Okay, it appears pick the Friday before half term is a tupid idea (see this thread) so we are trying again. Squiffy and I have come up with some more dates. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome to do so.

Please vote on dates by adding your name to the list on the days that you can attend:

Oh, and if you are coming to the Christmas meet-up this is a good opportunity to make a few new friends before the big do.

Patara, 181 Fulham Road, near South Ken tube.

Oh I am so excited. Legalalien, do you still want to meet in Royal Exchange? I am wearing loud stripey shirt and brown trousers and have short hair in dire need of a haircut. I will keep an eye out for your groovy red glasses but with my eyesight I cannot guarantee I will spot you. I will probably be on my blackberry playing brickbats writing important mails.

Anyone else heading from the City of course welcome to stop by on the way and join us. I will be there from 5.15ish until we leave prompt at 6.30

Can I just check that Patara is quite close to the Michellin building (as my map suggests)?

GloriaInEleusis · 08/11/2007 12:25

No idea where the Michelin building is. But, it's the Patara in South Ken. There are 3 or 4 Patara's so make sure you are headed to South Ken.

legalalien · 08/11/2007 12:38

squiffy - absolutely. I will be the one who looks like she is heading for a funeral, as I have black skirt, tights and boots today, plus a black coat. with the coat off, I'm wearing a sort of petrel blue cardigan over a white shirt with a ruffle down the front. I will ponce around trying to look obvious. Should be there about 5.30 as am aiming to get out of the building at 5. Will post at about 4.45 to confirm I'm on track, if you want to double check before leaving your building......

Kewcumber · 08/11/2007 14:18

I'm now in work (DS safely ensconced with NAnny) so will join to at Royal exchange somewhere between 5.30 and 5.45ish.

MagicMonkey · 08/11/2007 15:32

I will be there but I will definitely not make it by 7. Order without me and I'll get there as soon as DH walks through the door!

I will order something when I get there...

legalalien · 08/11/2007 17:00

right - about to leave the building.....

rosmerta · 08/11/2007 17:56

Ele, will text you as well but on the off chance you see this, I've been up at my parents without internet so I didn't know you needed us to confirm! I am planning on coming still unless its too late with the reservation?

Coolmama · 08/11/2007 18:15

oh dear - have only just seen this thread! -
Am I too late to come along and say hi?

QuintessentialShadow · 09/11/2007 08:09

Guys let me be the first to say what a really nice evening out that was! Thank you all for good company.
You are all so nice!

I havent been on the london underground for at least 5 years. Thanks goodness I had Eleusis and Jura to get me to the right platform, onto the train, and off at my station!

I cant wait for the school run to be over, and get to bed work.

Coolmama I am sorry you missed us last night, keep your eyes open for other London Meetups! 1st December is big Christmas party in London, check the stickie at the top of active convos...

knackeredbutnice · 09/11/2007 10:59

I had a really good time last night!
Bit strange knowing all this background info on people you've just met and good food too, so well done eleusis!
i was 2 1/2 hours late getting into work today (couldn't be bothered!) so i took DD to school which was really nice.
Will try to make it to the Christmas 'do.

SquiffyonSnowballs · 09/11/2007 11:19

Had a great time. Feel like death.

QuintessentialShadow · 09/11/2007 11:26

Oh yes, were are my manners. Thanks Eleusis for organizing this!

Kewcumber · 09/11/2007 13:47

I had a lovelt time too though 12.30pm bedtime is FAR TOO LATE

Saldy DS was worse this morning and took him to Dr - he has bronchitis poor little mite.

Was good of him to hold getting worse until this morning though - wouldn't have left him yesterday otherwsie!

MagicMonkey · 09/11/2007 19:17

Great meeting you all last night. Bit freaky with all the connections but lots of fun anyway.

Thanks for organising Eleusis!

rosmerta · 09/11/2007 21:11

Thanks for organising ele!

Really nice to meet you all and had a really nice time. I will admit to suffering a little today though!

GloriaInEleusis · 10/11/2007 08:19

See... nobody listens to me when I say "oh Fridays are better for me..."

Shall we arrange the next one when we don't have to go to work the following morning?

Maybe one is say mid January, after the Christmas party and after the holidays?

South Ken / Chelsea seemed to be a good location for most of us travel wise, shall we stick to that area again?

QuintessentialShadow · 10/11/2007 08:54

Ah, Eleusis, but I find it a lot better to stare at my screen feeling lousy than to have to get up at the crack of dawn on a saturday morning feeling lousy and entertain the kids for a good 5 hours before my husband gets up, if he is home! WORK is a lot easier to cope with than my two, when hungover.....

But I agree, the area is good, and January is good. Again thanks for organizing.

legalalien · 10/11/2007 10:40

And belated thanks from me as well eleusis! I'm torn between the Thursday and Friday thing, as I know just what QS means about Saturday mornings. On the other hand, Friday turned out to be the day from hell - I arrived latish at work to find out that a bunch of folks had brought forward the signing date for a deal I was working on and had to spend all day running round like a mad chicken and pretending not to be hungover. Hangover exacerbated by the fact that I merrily caught the last train back to my station, ignoring the station announcements (presumably there were some) saying that due to track works the train wouldn't be stopping until West Norwood. So at midnight I was wandering around West Norwood, slightly the worse for wear, looking for a minicab outfit as I'd left my mobile phone at work. Thank goodness for the friendly guys in the fried chicken shop!

South Ken or Chelsea fine with me for a reprise - but next time I'm getting a cab home!

Or if anyone likes malaysian, one of my favourite places in London is www.champor-champor.com/ , near London Bridge station.

GloriaInEleusis · 10/11/2007 20:47

Must say their website leaves little to be desired. But, hey. it's the food that counts...

I could offer you a deal. I can come round to the East side of town if we can do a Friday/Saturday night.

So who is/isn't coming to the Christmas meet-up?

QuintessentialShadow · 10/11/2007 21:06

I shall be at the Christmas Party.
Not booked a hotel, so shall have to cab it home at some point....

SquiffyonSnowballs · 12/11/2007 10:06

Oh my manners deserted me in the midst of my friday hangover.... thankyou very much Eleusis for organising, had a fab time. Do I owe more money (In the sober light of day I reckon we must have gone over £50 a head?).

Knackeredbutnice I will be so disappointed in you if you don't change your name to Page62 as promised - you and DH must have a riot at parties with that one.

My vote is for schoolnights for the next meet for same reasons as quintessentiallymuchhardertotypethanyouroldname - a blank screen and starbucks on tap is so much more soothing than a 4YO whose current habit when DD is playing with his toys is to pick her up under her armpits, drag her to wherever I am in and dump her at my feet unceremoniously with a dismissive "You take her mummy, I don't like her any more". Mind you, am not overly fussed about which day of the week we do the next one so long as we do have a next one. Friday night works miles and miles better for me than a Saturday night if we do go the weekend route. Now I know how drunken they are though, I will book a room next time so I don't have to slope off earlyish to relieve babysitter.

I will hopefully see you all at the xmas party.

GloriaInEleusis · 12/11/2007 10:44

But I can outsource childcare. Can not outsource my work. Although it is really tempting to send someone else to my desk on occassion I just have this sneaking suspicion my boss would have a problem with it.

Speaking of the Christmas party, bugger bugger bugger... can't find a reasonably prices hotel I want to stay in now... left too late... bugger bugger bugger. I am NOT going home.

Anyone have any suggestions?

rosmerta · 12/11/2007 13:17

I'm with ele, much prefer Friday & Saturday nights as dh then gets up with ds!

GloriaInEleusis · 12/11/2007 15:47

Okay, when is the next one?

Can we do a Friday then in January? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....

SquiffyonSnowballs · 12/11/2007 16:08

Oh, go on then. You've twisted our arms.

How about a random 'pin in the calendar' approach... Friday 18th Jan anyone?
