I live in a town house and love it. We have the kitchen/dining/living room all on the same floor. Rooms are all a good size. So I wouldn't write it off until you have seen it. Is it a modern town house or a period property?

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 15:19

Lottery? Naah, never buy them, waste of money.

It's a lot cheaper than our house (if we can sell it) so we can even reduce our mortgage and it'd be close to the nursery/school, you see.

DH's reply: 'no ta'

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:20

I'm thinking of the townhouses that have integral garages on gfround floor which I think is mostly likely in kew. Still wouldn;t necessarily have a problme with it.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:21

so over my way then? Ooh yes move move, we can share the school pick up! (thinking ahead a few years).

make him see it - say Mumsnet says YES.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:21

blimey - do prices really drop that much over this side then

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 15:24

It looks modern, CoV. I feel a little embarrassed to link it but this is it.

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 15:34

I think I know where it is now. It's just off South Circular. Not really cats/kids friendly... Well, never mind.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:36

don;t feel embarassed - I lurve nosing aound property (real and virtual) I know it thought it was sold (though that may have been another one in the same road.

Good location though quite close to main road, small rooms but don't know how they compare to your current place and small garden but at least it would be manageable.

What does DH have against it? Can;t you sell him on the school catchment thing?

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:37

but Sushi - my house is "just off south circ" promise it is fairly kid and cat friendly.

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 15:38

Rahter keen on this one myself

MrsRecycle · 23/07/2007 15:43

my dh is the same - detests townhouses but its probably something to do with him being a removal man and having to move furniture up and down them all day long.

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 15:43

No, QC, your house is in a very secluded crescent and this one is more like a few steps away from SC. I found a house in your crescent, well above our budget, of course.

We even drove around the area yesterday, very nice round there, isn't it?

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:44

anyone else think this garden here is a little... umm.... busy?

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:45

would you consider a flat? there are some fab three bed flats in that budget near the river. I know they have service charges but very little upkeep...

stepfordwife · 23/07/2007 15:45

sheer class, kew...

stepfordwife · 23/07/2007 15:46

the busy garden, that is

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:46

prices in this road have got mad in the last year. really mad. if you add what I paid plus the renovation costs, this house has appreciated about £200,000 in five years thats a huge %age

stepfordwife · 23/07/2007 15:46

sushi..am very near sc - haven't managed to lose any kids or cats yet

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:48

I see it is a japanese style garden. The emphasis on the style I think - have a book on Japanese gardens - don't remember seeing that one in it...

stepfordwife · 23/07/2007 15:48

yep, i actually find the price of property in this area obscene..but my socoial conscience doesn't overp[ower my desire to live here

SushiMummy · 23/07/2007 15:51

I don't mind a flat but have a feeling DH would like his shed.

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:52

Steppie - I find falling back on a smug "well of course I bought when it only cost £2.50" salves my conscience. Well that and the thought that moving outside London would result in DS looking like a kazakh out of water puts me off the practicality of a move.

ComeOVeneer · 23/07/2007 15:53

move down here you get more for your money .

Kewcumber · 23/07/2007 15:53

ah no shed in my example so no good for DH - though there is a strange pillar kinda-thing but JApanese stylee.

mellow2 · 23/07/2007 15:54

I wouldn't recommend flats with service charges because management companies are crooks. In the 3 years I've lived in Brentford Lock, my service charges have gone up by 50% and are twice what I pay in council taxes.

We're desperately trying to move out of our flat but we'll have to wait till we have a cash influx.

QC,
You've probably said this a few times already but are you being featured in Prima or Prima Parenting?
