Paddlechick666 · 20/05/2007 21:05

i'm here and i'm on my way to bed!

had a great afternoon/evening and most of today with my friends.

kids didn't go to bed till 9pm and we had a fab bbq. then 6 of us saw off 4 bottles of fizz (good stuff too!) and half a bottle of cassis.

went to bed at 2am and luckily both the littlies slept till 8:30am.

dd is streaming with cold poor little thing but thank god for medi-sed.

i am now going to curl up and read for probably 90 seconds before flaking out LOL!

n'night!

foxcub · 20/05/2007 21:40

Night night!

Kewcumber · 20/05/2007 22:26

I have morphed - am now officially a long green phallic fruit.

foxcub · 20/05/2007 22:37

Organic I hope - from Olivers?

Paddlechick666 · 21/05/2007 09:30

okay west london people...

what do you know about roehampton? nurseries, schools etc.

am weighing up my options wrt to moving and buying etc.

could go for HA property around hounslow/ealing and get seriously stuffed on the rent or buy outright (with a mortgage of course!) in one of the roehampton tall blocks.

i know nothing about roehampton tho......

educate me please

pudding77 · 21/05/2007 09:34

morning all, haven't been around much but have had a quick skim through the thread!

I see once again we appear to have scared off any newcomers!

Paddle - the only thing I know about Roehampton is that dh works there & you'd be very close to Richmond Park!

Kewcumber · 21/05/2007 09:48

No - Abel and Cle.

Roehampton is odd Paddle - ranges from pretty dire tower blocks to big expensive detahced houses so choose carefully! Dont know much about schools in the area - which borough is it in Richmond? If so you can do an ofsted search on the borough. Lemonaid might know more she's in Putney so she may know the Putney side of Roehampton.

Paddlechick666 · 21/05/2007 10:13

it's wandsworth KewC and i would be looking at the pretty dire highrise blocks...

single mother highrise hell here i come!

according to ofsted i'd be in catchment for Barnes Primary which has got a good ofsted report.

where be foxie, she know all about schools LOL!

hi pud, what newbies? i see no newbies? LOL

pudding77 · 21/05/2007 10:44

cos we scared them off, that's why you can't see them!

Agree with KewC about Roehampton, I sometimes go up there to meet dh for lunch and one minute you're amongst the tower blocks, the next the half a million quid homes!

foxcub · 21/05/2007 10:45

Morning Grrls

I like to think I know about Richmond schools, but I know nothing about Barnes primary. But its deffo worth looking at the tower block - often they're lovely inside, with fab views (over the park and river?)and huge rooms.

If I were you I'd go and take a nose at some (lett me know if you want a viewing companion anytime - I love nosing round people's homes!!)

Paddlechick666 · 21/05/2007 10:56

well, the two local roehampton primary schools have got poor ofsted reports. IMO anyway. the reports actually say the schools are doing well under the circumstances.

lots of special ed needs, high turnover of kids, high absent rates etc etc.

really not sure how catchment works tho as the ofsted search listed barnes and east sheen as closer than the roehampton schools....

thanks for that comment foxie, has made me feel a bit more optimistic about that option.

will let you know about doing some viewings - am going to start making some arrangements soon.

Amandella · 21/05/2007 11:06

Hi there
MrsRecycle kindly pointed me in the direction of this thread and I'd like to join in please!
I'm a bit lost as the thread seems very active and you guys seem to know one another pretty well, but I'm have two dd (aged 3 and 9) and live in between Twickenham and Teddington.
It would be lovely if some of you could send a quick intro (where you live etc) so I can try to get up to speed!
Look forward to being in touch with you.
Thanks
Amandella

PS: I think I added this message to a new link by mistake before!

foxcub · 21/05/2007 11:12

Hi Amandella

Welcome

I live in Kew (about 4 of us live here)
DS1 aged nearly 7, DD nearly 4 and DS2 2 months!
Am on maternity leave atm

We meet up once a month and often have lots of ad hoc spontaneous mini meets during the day.

Are you a SAHM or do you work?

MrsBigD · 21/05/2007 11:18

Hi girls! what have I missed?
Things here are o.k. but if ds yammers 'mamaaaa' one more time today aaarrrgh
Been busy with trying to get my advertising campaign going which forced me to concentrate on updating my website etc so haven't been on here in a while...

Anybody bored enough to give me a synopsis on what's been going on in West London?

Hope everybody is ok

Paddlechick666 · 21/05/2007 11:18

Welcome Amandella, theres a stats thread where you can check us all out.

it's a bit out of date tho really but you'll get the gist.

make sure you watch this thread and you'll soon be an old hand.

there's a hard core who're here every day for mutual support, advice, information and general mickey-taking or just downright bossy and rudeness (watch out for the KewCumber )

anyways, i'm in isleworth (at the moment at least), have dd 19 months and work 4 days per week.

pudding77 · 21/05/2007 11:24

Hi Amandella, I'm in Brentford, have one ds 15 months & am a SAHM.

stepfordwife · 21/05/2007 11:29

hi everyone
how y'all diddling?
working, but a quick butchers at the thread ain't going to hurt, is it?
KewC..cool (as a cucumber) name
Amandella - welcome
am a relative newbie myself - haven't managed to scare me off yet. god knows, they've tried..
live in mortlake and have ds1, 7, ds2, nearly 6, and dd, 2.

Kewcumber · 21/05/2007 11:56

Hi Amandella - we have a pretty good record at scaring off newbies before they even meet us! However those who come along to the occasional meet-up seem to stick (IYSWIM). We do know each other but only because we have regular meet-ups - I'm guessing that its probably one of the most active of the MN areas offline? Over the summer Kew Gardens and Chiswick Park House are popular day time meets. I'm always game for a visit at weekends as I'm single though my DS is 17 months so perhaps a little the wrong age for yours. (Oh and I'm really old, but not as old as Foxie or Steppie)

MrsRecycle · 21/05/2007 11:57

Hi again Amandella (great name - combines mine, dd1 and dd2). I am 42, have dd1 (9), dd2(6) and ds (8 months). I'm a SAHM but eleusis wants me to go back so I can chat on mumsnet more . Please join us when we meet up during the day, we really don't bite (I can vouch for that).

Paddlechick666 · 21/05/2007 12:02

some of the kids do bite tho

Amandella · 21/05/2007 12:24

Hi again
Thanks for the welcome! I am also 42 and gave up work when I had my second child (dd age 3) - although I'm studying at the moment so hope to qualify as an antenatal teacher within the next 6 or 8 months.
I do go to Kew Gardens a fair amount in the summer - also used to live right next to Chiswick House before we moved out here to Twickers.
Well, that's probably enough from me! I hope to meet some of you in person and in the meantime, I'm taking dd to Bushy Park in the !(£(£(!! rain....because she's driving me crazy!!....

Amandella · 21/05/2007 12:26

Whoops...... just proving what a complete twit I am very early on....I've just realised I'm actually 43 and not 42. I think it's called burying your head in the sand....

stepfordwife · 21/05/2007 12:30

hmmmm don't know what you're alluding to, KewC..i'm only 33 (snigger) and anyone who says otherwise is a LIAR LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!! (a very mature 44, sorry, 33, as you can tell..)
