New thread for May.

OP posts:

DS has an affinity for dirt too, but combines it with this freak genetic-throwback fastidious. So he will go and sit in a muddy puddle, demand to have his trousers changed, then go and sit in the same puddle again. We went through three sets of pyjamas the other day in the space of a single yogurt.

Eleusis · 17/05/2007 13:00

Oh good news paddle. I love when the wankers at work resign.

Although I can't complain today. I got DS a trike for his birthday (Saturday) and it's been sitting in the box under my desk at work. A bunch of engineer blokes simply couldn't resist temptation and ripped open the box and helped me assemble it. Cool. Job done. I love the trike.

  • not knowing bout DS's genetic throw backs that could still develop I suppose...
lemonaid · 17/05/2007 13:01

And "why walk if you can roll?". That takes care of a good few items...

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 13:01

Eleusis - could I put my bathroom unnder your desk and see if they can solve the source of the leak?

Eleusis · 17/05/2007 13:02

Goog grief, you are generous to your children. I would say "you sat in it, you wear it."

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 13:02

well he doesn;t roll much but very keen on a good commando crawl under things which have not seen a vacuum cleaner for many a long year.

Eleusis · 17/05/2007 13:04

Sue, give him a corless dustbuster to play with. He can soon clean them all up, and no dangerous cord for him to play with. Cordless vacuums are fab. I encourage my children to play with them.

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 13:05

excellent idea - will make a change fom the phone that he has taken to "posting" out of the catflap to sit undiscovered for some days in the rain

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 13:06

needed new phones anyway...

lemonaid · 17/05/2007 13:08

That approach worked fine until he learned to take his clothes off for himself. It's actually OK if you can distract him for a while and then he forgets he's dirty.

Eleusis · 17/05/2007 14:09

Sounds like it's time to teach him to do his own laundry.

ComeOVeneer · 17/05/2007 15:31

Sue just wait he he posts phone into bin and you scrapp the leftovers on top before you notice

lemonaid · 17/05/2007 15:56

Oh, he does put them in the washing machine when he takes them off... and he has a good try at putting detergent in, but he can't quite get the little packets open to get the tablets out . He doesn't get it from me...

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 16:30

Oh he does that already at my mums, Cov - doesn't put stuff in the bin at my house either because I don't have a fancy brababtia bin or because I don't find it as funny as my mum and therefore frown rather than laugh [stern mother emoticon]

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 16:31

Ds likes laoding/unloading the washing machine - wtf is THAT all about?! I'm assuming he has picked it up form CM not discouraging him though...

2Cute · 17/05/2007 16:35

Our phones have never managed to get out of the cat flap so 10 points to your DS for originality Sue! Everything of ours would end up in the washing machine or behind the bed.

I second Ele - These cordless sweeper/dustbuster things are fab, DS loves "playing" with it.

Nanou1 · 17/05/2007 16:41

dd when about 12 - 18 months was fascinated with the toilet... we finally put a type of lock on the seat to secure the whole thing after she'd managed to throw our guest's mobile phone in it . and of course we had not realised until one of us went to the loo..... not amused...

Nanou1 · 17/05/2007 16:42

does he like to watch the washing machine running? dd used to be fascinated... i shall try and remember that one for when she is a teenager!!!

stepfordwife · 17/05/2007 16:47

they're only changed if vomit or shit is involved...and that's grudgingly, or should that be grungingly

suejonezwillsoonbeKewcumber · 17/05/2007 16:55

thank you Steppie - feel reassured that other peoples children are as grubby as my own. Though he deletes fewere emails did you finally get my email with photos attached? I sent so many I lost count!

Nanou1 · 17/05/2007 17:01

india gets very grubby at the end of the day; face included. i find it reassuring and nice ; i always feel it means she's enjoyed herself

stepfordwife · 17/05/2007 17:21

indeed, nanou, builds up their immune system, too

sue, i did indeed. did email you back (if dd didn't swipe that, too.)

foxie - thanks for cuppa earlier. good to have some grown-up company after being in quarantine! loved dds bossing each other about. LOVE your bag...i'm deffo coming to the next sale, especially to nose around the posh house.

foxcub · 17/05/2007 17:55

My kids are filthy like Stepford Wive's too

I only changed the pooey/sicky clothes 'cos they make my car stink otherwise

Steppy R U coming to the Kingston Green fair then Mrs Grunge? May 29 and can't be arsed to do the link but there will be loads of kids stalls and soft drugs for sale

Well I love my Phil and Teds its faberoonie to use Monti loves it while asleep but when awake he hates it as he can't see out - he yelled all the way home from school, which stressed me out so I growled the kids ...and so it goes on

DH got a letter from his employers today saying he has won his appeal and his contract is extended indefinately (i.e. they realised they were breaking the law...)

According to Steppy there is a programme about the Aboriginal delegation on tonight 7.30pm, ITV2. Nothing else interesting on tonight though...

foxcub · 17/05/2007 17:57

Sue - how come CM never offrede to do my drying for me?

PC - hey glad your horrid boss is leaving!
