oopps, nearly missed this update! i am from mapplewell and ds is nearly 3. we can probably make the meet up next week, but will be away in february. ds also likes jellybeans, and i like the fact that you can see what they're up to without straining yourself from your seat and hot chocolate!! will keep checking this thread!

alibo · 22/01/2007 19:03

btw, sarahhal, where is cheeky monkeys in waterloo? and stinkeypete and trace2, shame you cannot make the meetup; maybe we can meet at funworld sometime ??

PhoenixGirl · 22/01/2007 19:16

Hi alibo, was it you that came to the xmas meet with nbg? (i was cuffyj1 at the time)

Hi alibo. Cheeky Monkeys in Waterloo is above that strange shop called Deal House. It's opposite Blockbuster Video, a florist and takeaway. Just past the lights which join after Morrisons/Total Fitness ( mmmm, note to self must remember am paying stupid amounts a month to be a member and avoid the place at all costs!!!)

Is the Wakefield one really alright then Stinky? Just hear tales of awful kids and arsey parents!! Sorry you can't make either meet.

gingermonkey · 22/01/2007 19:55

I know where that is! I always drive past that shop thinking, who shops there?!
The cheeky monkeys in wakey is the best we have, the race track is very good, ds loves it and the area for the little ones is seperate from the big kids bit so it does make it easy to keep them away from the manic 6 yr olds tripping on those cheap bubblegum flavoured carton drinks (that are apparently sugar free, but full of plutonium instead, or something!!!!)

LKaye · 22/01/2007 21:33

Another good one is Little Pumpkins in Marsh, Hudds. Anyone else been there? DS v excited about going to Jellybeans!

PhoenixGirl · 22/01/2007 21:35

A friend's told me Little Monsters is good in Ossett, Wakefield. I've never been so i don't really know.

Hanlou007 · 22/01/2007 22:11

I have been to little pumpkins and its great for toddlers....I have problems with getting both mine up the stairs to little pumpkins and cheeky monkeys in waterloo so cant really go on my own....

sarahhal i pay a silly amount to that gym too and dont go due to hubby is working very hard and nobody to have the munchkins

gingermonkey · 23/01/2007 07:44

I used to take dd to little monsters but that was a few years ago. It's better for the bigger ones than toddlers, they can run off and hide and it's hard for you to see them. She used to love it, tbh i'd completely forgotten about it til you mentioned it phoenix! I quite liked it there too, but it seemed to be a bit mucky (then again, they all have that film of toddler grime, don't they???!!!)

What I'd like is a play centre that does real coffee, earl grey tea, hot choc with cream and marshmallows, some nice sandwiches with real ham or real cheese for the little ones and fancy ones for mummies with frilly lettuce in! OR a starbucks in a playcentre (but now I'm just getting greedy!)

Chloe55 · 23/01/2007 11:54

Is the 29th this monday coming? If so then for once I can make it - usually working mondays but am stopping in Burnley this weekend so I can just set off early on mon morning and meet you guys.

Is it Leapfrogs or Jellybeans - has a decision been made? Sorry, being thick!

Chloe55 · 23/01/2007 11:57

Sarah - out of interest you aren't related to James are you? They have a little boy who will be about 9mth old.

PhoenixGirl · 23/01/2007 12:27

Yay great u can come chloe and yes its monday coming and at Jellybeans.

OP posts:
Chloe55 · 23/01/2007 12:32

10am? Hopefully I will make it for then but if I'm not there then I should get there shortly after.

sarahhal · 23/01/2007 19:02

Intrigued Chloe! I am related to a James with the same second name as me - husband's half brother from his Dad's second marriage -but he is only 17 and unless he kept his child a secret for these last nine months doubt it's him!!

Isn't this thread fab? Whole new life out there suddenly!!

But i still can't play on Monday .....

alibo · 23/01/2007 19:16

hi everyone, still hoping to make it monday! yeah, phoenixgirl that was me; it was very kind of you to drive us there that night! gingermonkey, the cafe at jellybeans does do all your nice coffees, hot choc. with cream etc.... have not eaten there before, except for their home made biscuits once or twice!

alibo · 23/01/2007 19:22

sarahhal, er sorry to sound thick, where is waterloo??

sarahhal · 23/01/2007 19:29

Alibo - you'd be coming from Barnsley wouldn't you? Waterloo is basically on the main road into Huddersfield. From Barnsley you'd pass by Midgley (where Gingermonkey lives) Flockton (the place to be of course ), go left at the Grange Moor roundabout, then down the hill past where Hanlou lives . At the lights straight on then you are there.

Aaah, Mapplewell to Waterloo via the Mumsnet houses! Have only been to Mapplewell when I got lost after picking up the DSes from nursery in Royston!!

alibo · 23/01/2007 19:39

hey, thanks for directions sarahhal, might try it sometime; and don't worry, you really haven't missed anything in mapplewell!!

alibo · 23/01/2007 19:41

btw, we must organise a meet up at Charlottes as soon as the wether picks up in spring! i'm missing their ice cream sundaes!

alibo · 23/01/2007 19:41

sorry, weather

Chloe55 · 23/01/2007 20:06

No, James is probably in his 30's, he isn't 17 I'm pretty sure of that!

Keep me away from the cream cakes and lattes at Jellybeans, I have had my weigh in tonight and lost 5lbs!!!!! Sooooo chuffed.

gingermonkey · 24/01/2007 17:09

Alibo - hooray!!!!! Nice coffee and things!!!! I am now really, really, really looking forward to our meet up

Hanlou007 · 24/01/2007 20:53

I went to leapfrogs today for the first time....I liked it...But been told jelly beans is better

PhoenixGirl · 24/01/2007 21:15

How much is Jellybeans?

OP posts:
StinkyPete · 24/01/2007 21:58

mmm, nothing to add. just being nosey and wanting to keep thread in my 'threads i'm on'!!
fwiw, i think leapfrogs is brill; we go to music and movement every thurs afternoon there. jellybeans is fab too, but ds (4y) is growing out of it a bit.
