What time will we be going?

OP posts:
gingermonkey · 21/01/2007 17:28

Shall we say 10am? What time does it open? (I presume it's 10?) Then we can get a good few hours of gossiping and playing in before you (phoenix) need to get off for work and we can all go and get the lo's home for lunch? Is that ok with everyone else?

PhoenixGirl · 21/01/2007 17:32

Fine by me x

From the Black Bull Gingermonkey, dead easy!!

Up to the roundabout, right into Clayton West, Scissett then you'll end up in Denby Dale. Springfield Mill is on Norman Road I think( should know this as DS1 has his second birthday party there so did directions in invitations!) It's the road on your left after the main row of shops which has HSBC on the corner.

No sickies for me am afraid - actually store them all up for when the DSes are ill as I hate having to have time off when they are so a few porkies have to be told!

I have a right soft spot for Jellybeans - it's so good for the really little ones as there's loads of fab Little Tykes stuff. DS1 is four in May and DS2 17 months so just a bit of time when they can play there together. No doubt DS1 will be demanding Leapfrogs and Cheeky Monkeys all the time soon! Have you been to Cheeky Monkeys at Waterloo? Think that's the poshest of the play places with great food and coffee but not set up for teeny ones at all. Not to be confused with Cheeky Monkeys at Wakefield which I shall admit to refusing to go to as have heard so many nightmare stories about it

gingermonkey · 21/01/2007 17:45

thank you sarahhal, you are a star!!!! I've never been to cheeky monkeys, other than the dodgy one in wakey. TBH the play centres in wakey are that bad I've never bothered venturing elsewhere!IMO cheeky monkeys is probably one of the best in wakey (that should give you an idea of the standards!!!!) My friend keeps talking about an elusive luxury place in hudds, but we have never known where it is, or what it was called!

LKaye · 21/01/2007 18:25

My ds loves cheeky monkeys and insists his party is there this year. He's 3 and dd 8 months. Saying that he had party at Jellybeans last time and he loves it there too! Fab stuff for lo's I agree! Out of all it's my fave too as not too large, can keep eye on and nothing too scary! Cheeky monkeys fab but you can't always see what they are up to and can get v busy after school etc. but during school time its great! Looking forward to meeting you all.

gingermonkey · 21/01/2007 18:47

Great! See you all there on mon 29th jan at 10 am. Haven't done a meet up before, how do we know who we are?

sarahhal · 21/01/2007 18:56

Snap birthday parties LKaye- we had Jellybeans for his 2nd and Cheeky Monkeys for his 3rd! This year (May) I'm thinking of having a party at home .....mad perhaps but getting a bit fed up the play place ones! Thought about a church hall type thing but we've got a decent amount of space so may be brave!

trace2 · 21/01/2007 19:04

hi ladies would love to come on 29th of jan but no can do, i have my scan ans physio that day.

but ill try for one in feb? i think ds is off school that week

sarahhal · 21/01/2007 19:06

Trace - mail me about the stuff if you like - sarah at hallas dot me dot uk

How's DS settling into school? William rattles off a list every night of all the ones who have gone off to "big school" from nursery!

LKaye · 21/01/2007 19:08

very brave sarahhal. DH would have a heart attack if I did that! Know what you mean though - it gets all a bit same thing every time and when you go to lots over the year..once had DS party at Kirklees light railway at Clayton West. That was good but weather permitting. Get a party food in boxes and have a ride on train. Play areas at both ends too so nice for a change...mmm..might do that again now! I think all mums turning up on Mon might look a bit obvious as we will be all looking round!

trace2 · 21/01/2007 19:09

hi sarahhal thanks i will tomorrow!

ds loves it he got a special merit on friday for how quick hes learning i could have told them what he knows but thought its better them finding out and him settle in first

Hanlou007 · 21/01/2007 19:12

Can we all meet in the car park....Maybe with red carnations (joke)...

Then if we wait in the car park we dont need to walk up to strange people in the playcenter.

I have a blue 307 estate and will have my hands very full with a stressed look on my face....Cant miss me

gingermonkey · 21/01/2007 19:18

Good idea hanlou. If I go up to someone who isn't part of the 'gang' they will scare me off and I'll go home!!! As a lowly southerner I am still a little afraid of the northern folk, especially when I go up to them and speak 'posh' but admittedly Denby Dale is a better class of area than where the play areas are in Wakey! I have a black mini and a curly haired ginger monkey trying to climb out of my arms!

LKaye · 21/01/2007 19:34

No prob - I'm in a blue/silver landrover and will have 1 baby in arms and a little imp tugging on a hand!

PhoenixGirl · 21/01/2007 19:43

I have a beige citroen picasso and will have 1 little monkey in my arms.

I have something to put on my calendar now .
I have a sad life

StinkyPete · 22/01/2007 12:39

what have people heard about cheeky monkeys?? ds loves it - especially the 'race track'.
We went to a party yesterday at Funland in Mapplewell. It recently changed owner/ manager and was v v much improved.
Not sure we can make it to either meet up btw, but will keep checking.
stinky

gingermonkey · 22/01/2007 18:59

Hanlou, I am very pleased with myself for having something to put on the calendar too...dd has 2 party invites for the next 2 weekends, one of them is a makeover party where they get their hair and make up done (not sure I totally approve of that, she is only 7, but kids are soooo grown up these days!!!). She has a far better social life than me and dh put together (just you wait til your 2 get a bit older!)

I'm really, really looking forward to meeting everyone next week and for the little man to play with kids a bit nearer to his age, he gets pushed out by dd and her friends and my friends all have kids around the same age as her.
