I'm moving to St. Leonards in Exeter, and have a 13 month old baby.
Would love to hear from anyone in the area to find out about baby groups or meeting up for a coffee...

all the best,

x

Hi, just moved to Exeter 3 weeks ago with dp and 2 dds, 3 and 1.
Thanks loads to Baysmum and Lesleyworm who have pointed me in the direction of MN and it looks great! Makes me feel much better to know lots of other people in the same position and would love to come to the meet up on 17th Feb.

We have moved down from Leicester and renting near uni at the mo. Any ideas on good places to go in the day to amuse a 3 and 1 year old gratefully received ( I think they are getting very bored of my company ! )

mount st marys???? ooh I went to a different girls school very close to there

Coco4 · 30/01/2007 21:17

well i have looked at all the state school websites and looked at results and ofsted reports and the one i thought would be suitable for dd is a church school, that needed evidence that i worship weekly! so will stick with keviccs,

Tanzer · 30/01/2007 21:45

Hi Coco, Loads of people do seem to live in St Leonards and it does have more heart than where we are now. Ghost town here, you never see anyone walking around.....not sure where they all are

Coco4 · 30/01/2007 21:54

Have you met some nice people since moving?St L seems nice, i mved to Devon on the 8 Dec, so am still missing little bits from London and my family, but i know it takes time! as everyone keeps telling me.I have dd1 who is 13 and dd2 who is 13mths.Had you been thinking of relocating for long?

OP posts:
franca70 · 30/01/2007 21:57

they are in st leonards, tnazer!
I'm joking... are you in pennsylvania?

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 30/01/2007 22:24

coco- it was private when i went there, but youre rright- its very odd there now i visited it too for ds1 and didnt thinkm much of it. that one building used to be for 1st 2nd and 3rd yr classes, not the whole flippin school!

jimjams- what school did you go to? i had friends who were at st margarets. we are all 30/31 ish now.

Jimjams2 · 30/01/2007 22:25

Ah I'm too old (36!)

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 30/01/2007 22:26

too old for what?!!!!!

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 30/01/2007 22:27

is that where you were then? st margarets?

Jimjams2 · 30/01/2007 22:30

indeed, many, many, years ago. (not in Exeter now, although back in Devon).

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 30/01/2007 22:38

mmm, we all come back dont we at some stage- though in my case never actually escaped very far, only to bristol area for a few years then back again. tis obviously the ONLY place in england to want to live
anyway off to bed now, got this bday party thing going on tomorrow for ds2 and its going to be v v stressful. agreed to do it at home for cost issues (but its still cost a fortune) and numbers are v rapidly increasing. havent got enough chairs, not enough room. think i might have to have the odd glass of wine and hopefully i then wont care....
nighty night

Yes we are in Pennsylvania. It's nice and lovely views of exmouth, which reminds us why we moved here, but just no people !!
Moved for dp's job but we did seek out the job here. Never thought it would happen really but just snowballed and now we are here and a bit shellshocked. Everyone does seem really friendly though and although has been a bit hard, especially going from working to full time mum, not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

franca70 · 31/01/2007 10:51

stunning views from pennsylvania, but it can feel a bit isolated, well I have this impression, but only because I like busy, overcrowded places
I'm sure you'll settle in no time here , and there are plenty of things you can do with little ones (in this thread there are some good tips)....

Coco4 · 31/01/2007 11:21

Franco,where do you live?

OP posts:
fennel · 31/01/2007 11:37

I like the stunning views around here too, hills and views is one of the things we like about Exeter. Where we lived before was very flat and viewless.

Tanzer, 3 weeks is really early days in terms of finding places to go and people to meet, I think it could be just being new which is isolating, rather than which area you're living in. I remember that shellshocked feeling, we had it after a few weeks here.

franca70 · 31/01/2007 13:26

st davids

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 31/01/2007 13:55

we used to live in st davids, now we live in st thomas but ds1 goes to school on st davids hill

franca70 · 31/01/2007 16:15

st davids primary or st wilfrids?
exeter is that small then...

franca70 · 31/01/2007 16:26

sorry, you don't have to answer that, i got a bit carried away...

Baysmum · 31/01/2007 17:55

hello Tanzer, like the name, nearly as subtle as mine! Ha ha. Glad your around on the 17thx
