Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2007 16:19

afternoon all

welcome O2Bme, my dh used to work in Teddington so about a 10 mins drive to me in Isleworth.

I'm a 4 day a week working mum to dd 14 months.

The West London crowd is an excellent place to hang out with kids. We regularly go round each others' houses and trash them!

anyway, just got home from our excting visit to the Maternity Czar. I'm exhausted. Bloody glad I didn't try to visit office too - district line is a crock of sh*t ay.

the meeting was really good, dd looked fab (courtesy of Nanou!) and behaved brilliantly. I paid for this (along with all other tube travellers) as she screamed her way to Earls Court!

not sure when the article will be in the mag but some very interesting stuff was said. me being cynnical heard a lot of platitudes but you've got to start somewhere i guess.

it was a good experience I have to say - getting a buggy into the building thru revolving doors was quite amusing!

Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2007 16:21

ps: Mellow - well done on the job front!

pps: i am home tues O2BMe and often head to kew or richmond but happy to have a stroll in teddington too.

sfxmum · 09/01/2007 16:22

never mind that PC will there be pictures?
sorry dd got frazzled on the tube but then again so does everyone

Nanou1 · 09/01/2007 16:22

what is your new job about mellow? sorry about giving wrong address on other thread.... doh!
you're welcome paddle. dd looked very very cute

Paddlechick666 · 09/01/2007 16:25

yeah they took some shots, i think one maybe really nice of me and DD so hope they use it.

tbh sfx, she was a total star all day really. it felt weird trying to get her to eat in EAT surrounded by very important suit people LOL.

all tut-tutting bashing past the buggy and giving me filthy looks like i shouldn't be there !

i smiled sweetly back........ as you can imagine!

Nanou1 · 09/01/2007 16:27

LOL

mellownomore · 09/01/2007 17:22

Nanou,
Same old same old. I'm working on a new government website.

mellownomore · 09/01/2007 17:27

I'm really ticked off. I just had the HSBC bank manager ring me. She certainly had an attitude problem

O2BMe · 09/01/2007 21:22

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Had to head out this afternoon not long been home.

Thank you to everyone for your warm welcomes. I think I've very quickly gotten confused over who I've responded to and who lives where and the number of and age of LOs

Will dig out a notepad and pen and go back through the messages I think to get my head around it.

Get back to you all soon!

sfxmum · 09/01/2007 21:41

O2BME - No I don't get any help from my family unfortunately; they're all potty

My Mum lives miles away and looks after my brother who has Downs. She's suffers from depression I wouldn't be able to rely on her anyway.

My Dad lives in Petersham but doesn't like kids - thinks they should be seen and not heard and has never offered to babysit. His partner is lovely though and was a childminder for years, so she's very supportive.

My sister has two kids but lives miles away too! LOL

Howevere, DH is a brilliant Dad and does 50% of all domestic chores/childcare so that bit works well and we have a good network of other Mum's/friends etc, which I rely on to maintain my sanity. I work F/T but will be on maternity leave from mid-Feb so hopefully can join in some springtime meets during the day. When I return to work, DH will become a sahd!!

Don't feel guilty about being a sahm! Eljoy it while it lasts I feel guilty for working - I think Mums these days feel guilty whatever they do don't they?

Paddle - what was the Czar like then? Do you think she's committed to improving maternity/paternity rights etc?

Travelling on public transport is a nightmare with kids - we used to commute across London with DS when he was two (he was at a work place creche in Islington). When we went on a crowded tube he would shout to everyone - go away, you're all squashing me!!! I bet your DD was very well behaved, she generally is. How is her nappy rash BTW?

Hi everyone else

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 09:24

morning all! foxie - i thought your dad was fine; my dd certainly felt very much at ease with him

foxabout2pop · 10/01/2007 09:30

Nanou - he was being very charming wasn't he? He enjoys chatting with attractive young women LOL!

When you and MrsD left, his mood changed from alert and charming to grumpy and sullen!!!

No seriously, he is a good man and I adore him, he's just not that great with kids. Funnily enough though; DD can wind him around her teeny finger. I think he was enjoying watching my and your DD playing as they looked so cute. If they'd been whinging it would have been another matter!!

My sister stood as a paper candidate for the Lib Dems too BTW, in Wiltshire. Did you do much canvassing?

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 09:38

lol foxie am assuming you were referring to my dd with your "young lady" right ?! . re libdem i did more canvassing for dh who stood in acton south. but we've been canvassing a lot over the years; in fact started with simon hughes who is a very nice chap btw although he always talked to me in an allo allo accent!!!! when we used to live in SE1. dh more involved than me although not as much as he used to and so he knows quite a few of the big boys.

sfxmum · 10/01/2007 09:45

hello all

LOL @ 'go away you are squashing me' good for him!

parent talk! oh dear are they ever normal? makes me wonder how we will be spoken of in year to come

mrsBigD did not quite mean that, but if you insist

Nanou1 · 10/01/2007 09:51

oh no.... dh just emailed me to say dd had a poo poo in the car on the way to creche... potty training maybe not going so well after all... the worst thing is she told him with a smile; obviously enjoying the sensation... do i need to send her to see someone???!!!! is this normal behaviour to enjoy pooing oneself like that ???!!!!!

sfxmum · 10/01/2007 10:04

lol nanou! i guess the feeling of doing something she somehow knows she is not really supposed to do is sort of thrilling as well as the relief, i expect
