So that Uwilalalalala doesn't get offended by us bookworms - or would like to be bookworms if we had the time...

OP posts:

sorry, i've been guiltily avoiding this thread due to not having read the books i borrowed. and not having read a great deal of the book i have started!

i'd still like to come please however i may just have to sit in a corner and not try to have any sort of intellectual conversation with anyone - except the kids at least.....

erm, i've got some mandarins too, dd is turning her nose up at them so they are likely to wither and die in the fruit bowl before long!

suejonez · 15/02/2007 12:20

paddle, I am going to absorb books through my skin by turning up at the book swop so no need to read them.

Paddlechick666 · 15/02/2007 13:55

good idea Sue - bookish by osmosis - i like it!

suejonez · 15/02/2007 16:04

It's my new plan so haven't actually tried it yet - though I think my degree was obtained by similar methods as I don;t actually recall reading anything for three years then either

MrsBigD · 15/02/2007 23:26

woohay dh is letting me out secretly I think it's so he has a bit of peace and quiet as I'll be bringing the kids and a box of Heinlein Books.

Foxie can you email me your address again as I can't find it. Everything's still topsyturvy here

foxabout2pop · 16/02/2007 06:04

MrsD - will do

foxabout2pop · 16/02/2007 06:05

Mellow - yes
sfx - yes -
fox - yes
Mrs D - Yes
Paddle - yes?
Sue - yes until D collapses with exhaustion...
Nanou?

foxabout2pop · 17/02/2007 08:14

Hi - just to pre-warn you that my children may have head lice again. Seems to be endemic in their school atm

MrsBigD · 17/02/2007 08:51

we'll still be coming over dd has been exposed to lice a few time at school and so far no infestation and ds is easy as we just would shave his head

See you around 11ish and I've found your addi Foxie

foxabout2pop · 17/02/2007 10:04

MrsD - sorry I forgot to e-mail it. Am so tired atm I am like a zombie

trying2bgood · 17/02/2007 10:50

fox - there is a herbal remedy called delacet(I think) which is great for headlice, it really works. We all had to use it a last year.

foxabout2pop · 17/02/2007 19:02

T2BG - Do you know where I can buy the herbal remedy> I've been recommended something called Lice Attack which, despite its aggressive name, is all natural and we've bought a faberoonie NittyGritty comb but I'm sick to the back teeth of finding these monsters in DS's hair

There are one or two families who have kids in his class who are not traeting their DC's hair, so the lice just keep circulating

MrsBigD · 18/02/2007 11:24

gotta hate people who don't treat their kids. No idea re the treatment as I never had to look into it. However my friend in Israel, who's girls are plagued by re-occurring lice probably due to some parents not treating plus the ever present heat there, has sent me an electric comb. Just imagine runnign it through your kids hair electrecuting those little suckers - lice that is not kids LOL

foxabout2pop · 18/02/2007 13:43

MrsD - ooh what a lovely thought!!!! [evil snigger]

bunyanvillas · 18/02/2007 15:20

I got the nittygritty comb too - and along with it I bought the nittygritty headlice repellent spray which is supposed to be good.

suejonez · 18/02/2007 15:24

Is this a book thread or a nit thread????

MrsBigD · 18/02/2007 15:53

I@m sure there's some literature on nits and delousing LOL

suejonez · 18/02/2007 16:02

I insist you start a west london nit thread if you're going to talk about them - it's making my head itch.

foxabout2pop · 18/02/2007 18:42

eerr actually Sue, I was recently reading a novel about Victorians who were, of course, full of nits

Bunny - oooh let me know if the repellent works, as I only bought the fab comb.

Have just applied some nice carcinogenic LyClear, so looking forward to combing out all the dead bodies leter

suejonez · 18/02/2007 19:05

Doesn;t it take a long time though Foxie to wait for all teh little critters to die of cancer. Don;t some of them go into remission and hang around and others survive. I would have thought (statistically speaking) that a carcinogenic not killer would not be the most effective one...

MrsBigD · 18/02/2007 19:55

Have checked ds and dd and haven't seen anything but just in case did slap lots of tea tree conditioner on dd and combed her thoroughly. Hey any opportunity for her actually letting me wash and comb her hair!!! Told her her hair will be ever so pretty after and actually it is. And of course then I had to let her do mine. Fingers crossed we don't get critters

And why is my head itching again? Probably psychosomatic eh?

foxabout2pop · 18/02/2007 20:09

Sue -

MrsD - I think takes about 5-7 days before they start to eat your scalps!!

MrsBigD · 19/02/2007 08:16

I thougth so but I thought it's a good way to finally get to comb dd's hair . Because after the conditioning combing this morning her hair is nice and soft and it didn't hurt to brush it

trying2bgood · 19/02/2007 18:25

fox - we got it from a chemist in Ealing. Otherwise am pretty sure you can get it off the internet. Have never seen it in Boots or superdrug.

foxabout2pop · 19/02/2007 18:40

T2BG - will google it. Did you get it from the pharmacy opposite the Town Hall/Perceval House?
