I'm still up for 10 Nov as well

unhallowed · 21/10/2006 10:58

Count me in for 10 Nov.

spooxooky · 21/10/2006 11:49

thanks Foxy (again). I'm out for Novemeber , sorry. Only so much 'play' money.

MrsBeDreadingTrickOrTreat · 21/10/2006 12:06

Anybody has any suggestions re venue for 10 November? Anybody know somewhere with big round tables? The only one I know is Wonkee in Covent Garden and that's a tad far

spooxooky · 21/10/2006 16:32

just a thought, chinese restaurants usually have big round tables.
Otherwise, cheapo suggestions (given that christmas is just round teh corner) - Pizza EXpress Richmond (has one big round table, sits about 10 - you need to book it) or wagamama.
enjoy!

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 21/10/2006 19:44

i have a suggestion for seating if there are no round tables available.

everyone swap seats after the main course!

Boowila · 21/10/2006 21:13

Quokka, don't worry bout the nanny.

I'm still on for 10 Nov. Cheap is fine. Is there a Chinese in Richmond,Twickenham, Kingston that anyone can recommend?

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 21:58

Whizzi - thanks for your text earlier

If you do tape Torchwood DS would love to see it He's giving me a hard time at the moment as he doesn't want to miss it tomorrow. Morocco can't compete with a Dr Who spin off in his littleboy mind set - which is fair enough really!

I'll take advice from you as to whether its suitable for him first though!!

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 21:59

CHEAP IS GOOD!!!!

pumpkinpud · 21/10/2006 22:11

I can recommend a Thai restaurant in Richmond but it is a bit pricier than we were probably looking for!

Anyway, I'm off on holiday tomorrow - a whole week without MN, how will I cope? More importantly, how will dh cope without me having somewhere to go whinge !

Hope you all have good weeks - foxie, hope you have a good holiday too!

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 21/10/2006 22:11

just wanted to wish you a good trip, wasn't sure if i'd get on tonight or not! been a long day.

anyways, we will definately be recording. we have telewest hard-drive tv so you'll have to come over to watch. the skids aren't quite as devoted as your ds but they're keen. we'll watch and let you know what we think.

;-))

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 21/10/2006 22:15

ooohhh pud, have a lovely time. hope you got the check in thing sorted.

being new to the area i can't really offer any advice on cheap and cheerful places for dinner.

shame it's not summer, we could all get take out and sit on a park bench lol

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 22:54

Puds - do you mean Thai Elephant or Blue Elephant or whatever its called?

I went there wih my Catholic Mums gang and we were a bit dissapointed, thought they did have a big long table. Food was fine but very pricey.

There's a fab very cheap Chinese in west Ealing with big round tables, but uhat maybe the wrong area. However, I can give up to six people lifts back to Richmond afterwards

Ealing people, its near Blockbusters, but on the other side of the road - anyone know it.

My team at work used to go there for their £5 lunch and the food is lovely.

lemonAIIEEE · 21/10/2006 22:58

There's a really good Thai restaurant opposite my flat in Putney

I must be honest and admit that it has a distinct lack of round (or, indeed, big) tables, though.

lemonAIIEEE · 21/10/2006 22:58

Not that I can probably make the 10th anyway, as I think DH will be in India.

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 23:04

FiziWhizi - There's a new thread debating wether children should be allowed to watch Torchwood tomorrow night. Can't do the link thing but:

quote " Make no mistake about it, this is an adult show. With Sarah Jane taking care of the kids, and Doctor who the family audience, Torchwood's free to get a bit more down and dirty. This is a BBC3 show (with arepeat slot on BBC1 next year) and though it has that post-watershed freedom to ge further in terms of gore, sex and language, doesn't the series have more of a responsibility than a normal new series in that slot, due to the inevitable audience crossover from Doctor Who? How adult is too adult for Torchwood?
'That's an interesting question,' says Stokes (writer on the show? - serenity) 'I don't think we've censored anyone for being too adult. There are love stories that involve sex, there are horror stories that involve gruesome deaths, there is swearing. We're being careful but it is an adult show. It's not really for thewhole family. I think parents of nine-year-olds ought to be a bit careful' "

Will deffo take your advice B4 DS watches it!!

But why do they advertise it before the watershed then?????????

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 22/10/2006 08:09

Byeee everyone - have a great week!

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 22/10/2006 08:59

fox, thanks for that. interesting stuff huh.

tbh, ever since they started touting Captain Jack as Dr Who's bi-sexual side-kick I've decided Torchwood isn't for the kids.

In fact, I thought some episodes of Dr Who were a bit close to the bone but that could just be me being a bit nostalgic for the Dr Who I grew up with.

Times have changed and kids are more aware and knowing and less "innocent" than we were way back in the days of Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker but even so..........

I'll let you know what we think, and you're welcome to come over and watch it yourself before you decide on behalf of DS1.

Very true that they shouldn't advertise before the watershed, it's not fair to the kids and bloody difficult for us to be the big bad wolf (did you see what i did there!!!) to ban them from watching.

Anways, am sure you are on your way already. DS will forget about it once you're there and having fun.

Right, we're off to look at a couple of 2nd hand bikes!

;-)

spooxooky · 22/10/2006 09:02

suggestions for cheap in richmond/ twick etc: ozon in twickenham (almost opposite waitrose): do good set menus.
hidden dragon, richmond: I haven't been but my friend loves it. dearer than ozon.
wagamama in richmond (opposite waterstones): cheap but with long tables. there is one biug 'square' table, away from teh others which you could book. wd sit 8 or so. my nct crew and I used to go, all with buggies.

quokka · 22/10/2006 12:26

I like the sound of wagamama!

Boowila, just found out that the nanny had bad family news and is off back to Oz - poor thing. Did you find someone?

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 22/10/2006 13:10

mmm, wagamama works for me too.

oops, i forgot, i don't think i can make this one LOL!

Boo, wanna catch up about the car seat sometime?

how's the throat Quokka? mine is still a bit sore and it's been a week!

Boowila · 22/10/2006 13:38

Hi Fizzi, spoke to DH and he is willing to sell the car seat. So, if you want, I can come by your house one day this week on the way home from work and you can see it in person and decide if you still want it. What day is good for you? I can be at your place around 6:00ish.

FiziWhiziLetsGetScary · 22/10/2006 13:57

cool, excellent news.

that'd be great if you could drop by, how about Wednesay?

thanks heaps!

;-)
