I lurve Gunnersbury Park. I was involved in a mega grant bid at work to refurbish that old house in the middle and turn it into a training centre and the stables, plus have football training element provided by Brentford FC. Would have been great but unfortunately the bid failed Its neglected by both Ealing and Hounslow councils, but is still lovely to go in.

pudding77 · 29/09/2006 20:00

ff - I was thinking that the other day, there's that lovely big house being used as a kind of museum (have been in but not very good imo) and it's all a bit run down. It seems such a shame, including the fact the butterfly house won't be there after all

Paddlechick666 · 29/09/2006 22:17

evening all, was great to see you all today for those that made it.

I state here and now that Quokaa is a HIPPY!

A cloth nappy, sling wearing, veggie growing, TREE HUGGIN HIPPY!

Can I borrow that book mate?

Update on my childcare saga:

Put an ad on Gumtree last night for a p/t nanny and have been inundated with responses!!

One girl who's been nannying for 8 years for a family in Kew came over today. She's lovely, and lives around the corner from me. Her family's youngest has started school now so they only need her part time.

Any advice from any of you guys with a nanny on questions or T&C etc?

TIA

Mornin' All

Got woken this morning by sqirrals misbehaving outside my window. I've a good mind to climb up there and steal all their nuts. DH is spending tomorrow up a ladder seeking out the squirral hidey hole and blocking it . He doens't know this yet, but....

So Quokka is a Hippy too eh?

I had plans this morning to do a mega washing machine run and hang all the stuff outside but its too wet
hmm, just noticed the rain this morning has seeped through the wall into our dodgy conservatory, making a very ugly wet patch along one end, where the wall meets the wood

Does anyone know any Polish builders?

Last moan of the morning...both DD and DS have contracted sore throats and rasping coughs

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2006 09:42

hi FF

i got woken up this morning by a misbehaving baby - at around 12:30am and then frequently till 7am when dh finally took her downstairs.

managed 45 mins doze before a REALLY HORRID dream woke me.

so been in the kitchen since 7:45am doing dippy eggs for skids and making tonight's supper.

off to natural history museum shortly.

FF, get your washing in now, it looks lovely out there.

I know a polish cleaner and hairdresser but no builders yet.......... sorry

anyone up for C&C at Kew tomorrow about 10:30ish?

Morning early birds! I was only woken up by my dh's hand in my face at about 4am and then by ds chatting at 6.50am, which is a lie-in for me! Then got a call from the passport office to say they've lost the photos for his application so have to go and get some more done & get them signed again.....yawwwwnn

oops, don't know how I managed to post that twice!

sfxmum · 30/09/2006 12:45

pudding watch out for the unreliable delivery service they use, trullly useless (will spare you the huge rant)

pudding77 · 30/09/2006 14:04

Thanks sfx, unfortunately we had paid for the (supposedly) one week fast track service. Going to put a complaint in and see if I can at least get some money back. Won't hold my breath though!

fatfox · 30/09/2006 14:58

Hi again everyone

My damp patch has spread

PC666 yeah we might be up for C&C at Kew tomorrow, we exit Sunday mass at 10.30am, which is just around the corner, so could toddle over to C&C afterwards. It would be nice to see you and whoever else appears

Sorry to hear about the lack of sleep

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2006 17:23

cool FF, would be great to see you. we're using our passes for the first time whoo hoo!

skids are as excited about it as they ever get about anything LOL. the natural history museum went down quite well tho.

i gain hippy points for putting dd in sling to come home instead of buggy!!

hopefully see you tomorrow..........

fatfox · 30/09/2006 21:12

PC - The Natural History Museum is great isn't it. Did you spend much time with the Dinosaurs?

I'll text you tomorrow when we leave mass, to see what you're up to.

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2006 22:10

lol FF, we spent LOADS of time with the Dinos and then we said hello to the Mammals and went straight to the Earth Gallery.

the skids haven't been before and were mightily impressed.

we bought Jurassic Park on DVD on the way home and they just watched it. Am somewhat anticipating a full bed later tonight, we'd forgotten how darn scary that movie is LOL.

Will have my phone handy so catchya tomorrow.

fatfox · 30/09/2006 22:16

PC - have you done the Science Museum too? Its brilliant. We found out a few months ago that the Science Museum does sleep-overs (parents kip there with LOs). I would just LOVE to do that!

Paddlechick666 · 30/09/2006 22:52

yeah we took them year before last but it'll be visiting again soon i think.

sleepovers there would be brilliant! they do them on the Golden Hind as well I think and of course at Kew.

I doubt we'd get the skids to have a go but I will most definately be encouragind dd to do that sort of thing.

we've got the Imperial War Museum on the list next. They're doing a WW2 thru a childs eyes exhibit and the elder skid is doing WW2 at school at the mo.

GOD I LOVE LIVING BACK IN LONDON!!!!!

fatfox · 30/09/2006 23:08

PC - maybe in a couple of years we can have west London sleepover meet in the Science Museum

What is the Golden Hind? Rings a bell bt I can't place it?...

pudding77 · 01/10/2006 08:13

I'd not heard of the sleepovers before! Can't wait until ds is old enough to do that one!

fatfox · 01/10/2006 15:05

Me too - am already planning what I'll pack!

fatfox · 01/10/2006 15:08

PC - it was nice to see you and your gorgeous DD and the boys. We just got back. DD is fast asleep and DS is happily watching "Bart Wars" downstairs.

Paddlechick666 · 01/10/2006 16:34

Hi FF, was great to sit and have a natter with you and your 2 and dh again.

i'm lovin your dd's fur trim skirt!

deff on for a sleep over at the Science Museum.

Here's the Golden Hind thing altho it's not actually a sleepover.
and the Kew midnight ramble
looks like the Science Museum can be done anytime as long as you've got the numbers check it out

mostly it's 8yrs+ tho. maybe i could persuade the skids!

catchya soon

ps skid1 called me a witch this arvo before going home - little *&^%!!

fatfox · 01/10/2006 19:34

PC - a witch?

Surely if you were a real witch, you would have cast some wicked spells by now

Those links are great and deffo want to do the Science Museum. But would have to wait about 21 months (I am counting down from now...) until DS is eight. Unless I could borrow a friend's schild or kidnap an eight year old ....hmmm

Paddlechick666 · 01/10/2006 19:44

I know! I asked him yesterday if I was an Evil Stepmother and he said No. How fickle they are LOL.

Anyways, he's 9 so you can have him if you like?!!

DH just returned from drop off with a letter, no less, instructing us how access will be defined from now on.

ROTFLMAO - methinks the solicitors will be getting involved before long.

Anyways, I have a large glass of Wolfblass and am about to order something yummy for dinner.

Have a good 'un
;-)

fatfox · 01/10/2006 19:50

PC - and how precisely has her ladyship "defined" access from now on then?

Is it "if I feel like it?"

Paddlechick666 · 01/10/2006 21:15

it's "pay me another £100 pcm and see them fortnightly or another £200pcm and see them monthly" on top of existing payment of course.

all of a sudden she's offering parents' eves and plays etc - something which dh wasn't allowed to know about previously.

oh, and apparently our moving back to London is detrimental and if he was a responsible parent he would've moved closer to them.

so let's not mention the fact that their w/ends with her are spent playing Nintendo DS and being taken out by her brother (when they do go out)!

As opposed to the museums and activities and crafts and baking etc they do with us. Went home today with yet another home made "gift" for mummy. Can't remember the last time dh had a painting................

did i say that she doesn't work, she buys and sells computer games on ebay for a living?

and breathe......................................

grrrr
