Hello, hello! It feels as if I have been studying for an exam trying to read all the many messages and get an idea of the people in the group! Truly it was not possible to read every message, but I think I have learnt a bit about you all.
I am in Teddington, with a 13 month old boy. Some days I don't get my act together and achieve as much as I'd like - an element of understatement here! - but want my son, and probably myself, to spread our wings more. The day meet-ups - if they are local to me sound good, and the monthly - baby-free - meet-ups seem to be good fun. It would be nice to join you. Kate77

MrsBigD · 21/09/2006 07:01

Welcome Kate77
I'm one of those working mum's so probably won't see you during one of the day meetups but I usually make it to the kids'free zone ones

Want me to add your details to the stats thread?

hi guys! sj - thinking of you. it would drive me nuts.... hugs your way

bunyanvillas · 21/09/2006 10:32

Hi, count me in for the October meet-up.

2Cute · 21/09/2006 11:23

Count me in for 19th as well

FF - I'm also veggie so I reckon we should join forces and do all the food ordering (on second thoughts, better not seeing as nobody would turn up then would they?)

Hey there Kate77 - a few of us are meeting at the Lollipop Club tomorrow at 10am if you'd like to join us?

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 12:32

Bad news about the visas . There's a new woman at the local ministry who thinks that all the documents must be current in order to issue a visa letter. Normally you hand carry those which have expired with you and submit them to court when you get there. So have had to rush out this morning and courier medical, CRB checks and employers letter to kazakhstan.

They won't get there until mid next week, need translating and submitting to Ms Jobsworth before she will consider issuing letters, then 7 working days to actually issue them then a few days to get visa.

So it looks like it could be another 3 weeks before I travel. I may yet be joining you on 19th!

sfxmum · 22/09/2006 12:42

oh Sue so sorry boo for officialdom and petty bureaucracy

Uwila · 22/09/2006 12:55

Oh no Sue. So sorry. I can't even imagine what it's like. It must be worse than sitting around with an aching back and swollen feet waiting for that blooomin due date to come round.

Well, if you do come on the 19th, please try not to scare the newcomers.

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 13:14

The only reason I would come is to scare the newcomers, Uwila are you trying to deprive me of my last (low calorie) pleasure in life?

Uwila · 22/09/2006 13:15

yes

sfxmum · 22/09/2006 13:16
Uwila · 22/09/2006 13:47

There there, SFX. Don't let her bother you. She's just a bully.

Nanou1 · 22/09/2006 14:00

SJ come and join us and we'll all have a stiff drink together. i get so upset when i read all the problems you encounter. this is madness... can't stay very busy at work these days. would be nice to see you soon somehow somewhere ! focus on Xmas and away!!!!

fatfox · 22/09/2006 14:18

Oh Sue, that's real crap isn't it?

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 16:24

Yes tis crap but am resigned to it, only one thing in a long lin of many years of crapness. Don't think the British side were any better because they weren't!

I'm thinking of taking a couple of days unpaid leave next week just so I can go do something rather than sit and look at empty cot, high chair, car seat etc. Thanks god I didn't deck the whole house out in disney characters - too scrooge-like!

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 16:24

managed to hook up with Brenda today, am going to see her next Friday morning.

Nanou1 · 22/09/2006 16:32

euh.... who is brenda? my moto is "never assume"

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 16:36

Secret code nanou, for those in the clique

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 16:38

She's foxie's CM who I am going to see next week to see if she has a space for me (well Junior if the little bugger ever arrives). I have to make appearance to see if I come up to Fatfox's high standards.

Nanou1 · 22/09/2006 16:50

doh! yes yes i remember now!!!! thank god it's friday - am knackered! have you also visited creches?! maybe you can do both in case Brenda can't do your 4 days? my dd loves going to creche and spends the day with lots of kids, always having lots of fun. it also means that it does not matter if one of the carers is ill; ie i dont need to take the day off

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 16:52

have thought of nureries but I wanted something more like a home at least to start with and someone who would be flexible if I get stuck on the tube coming home. I gather she is very flexible which is really what I need.

Nanou1 · 22/09/2006 16:55

flexibility is definitely something you dont get in creches. some parents would take the "mick" so very strict rules on that one i am afraid.

fatfox · 22/09/2006 19:53

Nanou/Sue - our CM hasn't gone sick in the two years plus I've used her. In fact she's a lot more reliable than I am

Sue - she mentioned she spoke with you and looking forward to meeting you next week.

I had to ask her about a mystery illness DS had (swollen excrutiatingly painful willy) - of course she knew exactly what it was instanly and told me what questions to ask my GP, which worked a treat actually. Give me an experienced Mum anyday of the week. She also diagnosed DS's impetigo last year, after three successive GPs had failed to spot what it was

I do think nurseries are brilliant for pre-schoolers, as they each them loads of social skills. But perhaps for Sue's LO (IMHO that is...) a nursery might be a bit too much like an institution. Just my humble opinion, like.

Sue - CM is really interested in your LO, she keeps asking me all about him and Kazachstan etc. Think she might have embarrased herself a bit with you today by thinking Kazachstan is a place in Russia or something?

suejoneziscalmernow · 22/09/2006 20:44

She did ask me if I was adopting from Russia and I said "no, Kazakhstan - it's on the southern border of Russia" but I really didn't think any more of it! I can't believe she was worried about it! Very, very few people could place Kaz on a map and I certainly don't think any less of anyone who doesn't know much about it. It was part of the good old USSR, and most people think USSR = Russia I guess thats where the confusion comes in.

xoxoxo · 22/09/2006 20:44

HI Sue - sorry to hear of delay, how disappointing, and frustrating. Poor consoluation but if around you should come out and get hammered with us on the 19th. But watch Uwila - she leads EVERYONE astray!!
