Ooh Uwila if you get me a proper Amercan sippy cup (so I can compare to our inferior version) I will teach yo to play bridge

quokka · 25/09/2006 17:43

Don't get too excited guys I only know the basics, and would love to know more! The blanket I did was 50 something little knitted squares then crocheted together (which mil did ). You sound like a good knitter SJ

Hey pud I would like to know more about this knitting class. I would love to make beautiful scarfs and stuff then sell them for lots of money!

quokka · 25/09/2006 17:49

By the way knitting is cool Uwila you must keep up with the times

suejoneziscalmernow · 25/09/2006 17:56

as is bridge.

Quokka, cable kni was very easy from what I remember, looks far more compliated than it really is and got many admiring glances.

Uwila · 25/09/2006 18:02

It will pass, Quokka. The sooner the better.

Do you want some sippy cups, Sue? I'm sure I could find room for a couple for you. I will be getting some for me too. So, what's a couple more.

Oh, and that reminds me, you must get onto e-mail from Kaz when you know what you got se we can start planning his welcome home party.

suejoneziscalmernow · 25/09/2006 18:05

yes please Uwila - I will stop taunting you with every generalisation about americans I can think of, if you pick me up a sippy cup or two!

Also hope to be on email but if that comes to nought, my sister will know and she can tell Lemonaid who is doing some photography for her and she can report back...

fatfox · 25/09/2006 18:08

You wimmin still discussing knitting and bridge ?

Seriously, I wish I could knit - I have some tiny new born cardis and toys my gran knitted before she died 10 years ago and we teasure them. That's why I keep having babies actually, so they can wear he cardis granny so lovingly knitted

SFX - what do you mean by "downgrade" your account? Reduce your OD limit? I'm always interested in other people's financial unhappiness, as it makes me feel beter about my own (we're currently wallowing in deep Tax Credit overpayment poo). And I hate people with more disposable income than me

Escale is wonderful - the fish is to die for - crisp on the outside, melts in the mouth. It's just superb food at a very reasonable price.

I have a funny Diwali story to tell about the Indian restaurant next door actually, but I'll wait until we're sitting in Escale, so I can point out exactly where the burning waste disposal bins were

sfxmum · 25/09/2006 18:21

i love knitting dont do enough knitting crochet and embroidery all part of a good catholic education, something for my dotage i think

bridge is very much MIL domain so not going there

fatfox -bloody account has to have a certain balance or something so since i just got my last pay cheque i imagine they want to downgrade it. will talk to them tomorrow was too busy today, annoying pests, sorry about tax credits seems to be a huge mess

fatfox · 25/09/2006 18:24

I just find money so depressing - throughout my whole adult life I have never "had quite enough"

sfxmum · 25/09/2006 18:30

well that's relativeguess no one has enough ever
i actually don't worry much about it. i just think what is the worst that can happen? and can i live with it?
(she said while mourning loss of personal income)

xoxoxo · 26/09/2006 07:59

ohmygod - I duck out for a few days and when I come back you're all discussing knitting patterns and bridge. Has there been a time warp? Have you all aged overnight.
Does ANY ONE of you still have your own teeth? Are you all knitting co-ordinated covers for your colostomy bags?

I'm off on holiday tmrw for 10 days or so. God knows how old you will all be by the time I get back!!
I want a solemn promise that you will all be sprightly, bouncy and under 50 by the time we go out for dinner!

Uwila · 26/09/2006 08:14

I am NOT discussing knitting.

suejoneziscalmernow · 26/09/2006 08:16

well maybe a little bit...

xoxoxo · 26/09/2006 08:18

Maybe we should set up a rival message board. Topics like: good wine, dirty weekends, snotty children, fab restaurants, fab hairdressers etc.
NOT bloody knitting!!

Although me thinks you doth protest too much. Maybe you'd really like to be in the knitting circle?

Nanou1 · 26/09/2006 09:37

lol oxoxo; we are the same groovy chicks you know!!! and knitting and crochetting are now cool pasttimes quokka; want to make extra money from crochet and knitting so we must discuss this! it's been on my mind for a little while. there is a posh shop near where i work where ponchos go for £50 (for kids) and scarf and hat (still for kids) go for £50!!!! my diea is to go and see her when i have made a few samples and see what she says. so ladies we could all meet up and maybe make lots of money with our bits and bobs to sale. we live in the right area where quite a few people have the dosh to spend on stuff like that for their kids; to discuss maybe on Friday am . apart from that all ok apart from dd turning into a asbotot at creche.... hoping last week's event was a one-off. how is everybody today? oh fatfox... potty training not going well; she just cant be bothered so thinking am going to leave it til xmas when we have 3 days at home.

pudding77 · 26/09/2006 13:38

I'd love to make some money selling bits & pieces but I'm not sure how much I could make with one scarf a year

suejoneziscalmernow · 26/09/2006 17:20

You can be our sales rep Nanou, I've almost finished the jumper and I may have to sell it as it looks big enough to fit a five yr old.

fatfox · 26/09/2006 19:17

Sue LOL at the vision of your huge baby jumper Perhaps it might fit my DS, so you can flog it to me or another MNer!!

Nanou - potties... reading your post makes me glad I took the lazy route and waited until DS and DD were three before even attempting potting training. They both did it in a few days, as they were really ready by then

fatfox · 26/09/2006 19:21

PD just to let you all know I am sitting in Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, on a work jolly. Our posh dinner is to be served at 7.45pm. I can hear an owl hooting outside the window.

Its at times like this I'm glad I'm a wage slave

xoxoxo · 26/09/2006 19:35

Oh, green with envy.
I'm having whatever is left in the fridge which needs to be cleared before holiday tomorrow.
Am sitting here reading (about knitting, fgs) when really I should be packing.

But - if I listen really carefully I too can hear an owl hoot.

Errr, no, that's ds shouting 'mum I've wet the bed'...
Must go and attend.

Uwila · 26/09/2006 21:14

Did someone say "owl"?

suejoneziscalmernow · 26/09/2006 23:08

did someone say "holiday"?

2Cute · 26/09/2006 23:21

Oxo - just in case you check MN again b4 you go...Have a fab holiday!

fatfox · 27/09/2006 07:06

Oxo - have a fab holiday

Morning everyone, just popping in before I jet off to the Great Park again. Found out just now that two people from my ante-natal thread are located in Windsor and there's a vague chance I might get to meet them - one of them drove hrough yesterday apparently when I was taking a walk there

Sue - am around Friday after 12 if you fancy a gossip

Am off now to get pack lunches ready for the litle monsters.

suejoneziscalmernow · 27/09/2006 18:15

FF - I'm going to see Brenda at 10am then off to the IOW for the weekend so unless you want to do breakfast before 10am, then coffee is out this weekend I'm afraid.
