Let's start a new thread the old one is getting too long

I'm off travelling 22-29th but before then I hope I'd be able to 'find' some time but probably not in the week leading up to 22nd as dh would probably divorce me

MrsBigD where do you work, do you do a 5 day week? I'm ideally looking for 3 days locally (work as a PA) but there is nothing to be found that appears to be worth getting out of bed for!

suejoneziscalmernow · 04/09/2006 20:09

Bloody hell - a girl has to do some work of an afternoon, and after a late night drafting reports, comes back to find the west london thread world has moved on without her!

xoxoxo · 04/09/2006 20:11

bunyanvillas · 04/09/2006 20:18

Hmmm .. that is the problem - I need £20k pa - full stop - not pro rata!!! Am working 3 days a week at the moment but commuting (only to Holland Park but it takes a grand total of 2 hours a day!!) and really fancy a local job that would enable me to get to dd's nursery in time to collect her rather than at least 15 mins late each night! Oh well, sod it, I might as well just get on with it and stop moaning and also stop looking for that dream 3 day a week local job that doesn't exist [heads into kitchen to pour another glass of wine]

Paddlechick666 · 04/09/2006 22:16

okay can we stop talking about work now please?

tomorrow is my very last day of maternity leave

Bunyanvillas, I'm going back 4 days per week (eventually) but I've got Tuesdays off so if you want to meet up for lunch or coffee sometime that'd be great.

after my yomp to Richmond and back I'm exhausted - bed is calling!

how sad

Need some advice! My good friends mum had just passed away and I'm sending some flowers to oz. What do I write in the card? I never met her mum, but just want my firend to know that we are thinking of her. I'm terrible at things like this, I usually go for a card that has writing in it already ! help

Uwila · 05/09/2006 09:26

Oh no. Maybe just something short and sweet, like "Thinking of you".

quokka · 05/09/2006 09:33

do you reckon "thinking of you all. We're so sorry for your loss" Love from the xxxxx

Uwila · 05/09/2006 09:39

Yes, I think that's nice. But don't sign it "xxxx". Sign it "The Quokka flock".

quokka · 05/09/2006 09:47

The x's were meant for our surname not kisses! Even I know kisses would be inappropriate on a sympathy card!

On a lighter note has anyone stayed at a nice remote (not too remote) cottage in the country? Ideally would like something near to the coast with an arga as its for november

quokka · 05/09/2006 09:51

I like the quokka flock thanks Uwila

Uwila · 05/09/2006 10:49

I almost called you the Quokka Flokka. But, thought it might sound like I was swearing.

fatfox · 05/09/2006 10:59

Quokka Flock ?

Lordy!

Sue - are you ignoring us?

Oxo- how did nursery go this morning for you and DS?

I dropped DD off for her first day and she was really cross that I wanted to stay

I stayed for about 30 mins, but it was definately "go away mummy" - I think I was embarassing her

I felt all lost and useless and really wanted to pop round to DS's class to see if he was OK too but thankfully managed to contain myself and regain some dignity by walking off

Am at work now. I did a 15 hour day yesterday 7am-10pm !!

MrsBigD · 05/09/2006 11:02

fatfox I think you meant me LOL
ds had his first stint at nursery today. I hung around for 15 mins then hid upstairs for another 15 or so. He went wandering to find me, sat down had a little cry for about 10 seconds (!), got distracted and happily played on till they got me. Tomorrow he'll be 'deserted' for about 1h, Thursday 3h and then on Friday it's ditch and run .

The nursery manager said he did very well! Oh my little boy is a big boy now!

OP posts:
fatfox · 05/09/2006 11:06

MrsBigD - oooooops!

Please put my error down to the fact that I'm pregnant

Has DS been away from you before? You work don't you, so has he been with a minder/nanny?

DD has been farmed out to a childminder since she was 1year, so she is incredibly confident. She's a real party girl in fact

MrsBigD · 05/09/2006 11:17

DS is used to me going to work, but with nanny at our place. As long as he has toys though to destroy/build/reassemble he's quite happy to play by himself, which is very useful at nursery. He should be alright after a few days getting to know the carers. Both my little monsters seem to reserve their big tears and screaming sessions for my priviledge and are angles when with others...

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/09/2006 11:19

I'm bloody working not ignoring you!

have major review on in work at the moment - overtime etc. NOT GOOD TIMING. Stress levels are shooting through the roof as I'd banked on getting some admin done in lunch hour this week but not getting a lunch hour.

However have my medical tomorrow at 3.20 so will be home early. Hopefully I can catch up with stuff then.

Some of us have busy jobs you know....

fatfox · 05/09/2006 11:24

Sue - you need to get drunk I think

Must go - have meeting with Inspectors (see I have an important job too - neh neh)

MrsBigD · 05/09/2006 11:26

SJ look at it this way... stressed at work = no time to worry about forthcoming travel date also you'll have a long break from work soon that you can look forward to...

fatfox... inspectors? eh? Honest gov' it wasn't me!

OP posts:
Uwila · 05/09/2006 11:44

Sue, is it difficult to type and wave your finger at the same time?

Nanou1 · 05/09/2006 11:52

morning you lot! how are we today? just a quick note to say that at long last dh got a job - a 7 month contract with big firm west london. very very pleased!!!!!! but still in shock . good chance he stays longer cos most managerial positions start as contract work. this is so exciting!!! best go.

Uwila · 05/09/2006 11:59

OOOO... CONGRATULATIONS!!!

However, calling this "morning" is a stretch.

MrsBigD · 05/09/2006 12:07

congrats to Mr. Nanou1!

And Uwila technically it was still morning when she typed it

OP posts:
Uwila · 05/09/2006 12:10

Yeah, 8 minute of it left is a stretch in my book.

Uwila · 05/09/2006 12:10

So Nanou, does this mean you are buying our drinks at the xmas meet-up?
