I am moving to Wroughton next month and am trying to find out what goes on when and where for little ones. I have two sons, one just over 2.5 years and the other is 2 months old.

I am interested in activities to do with either boys during term time. I am also interested in postnatal exercise and meeting other mums in the area.

i live on the newish estate next to new college on queens drive.
ds2 is due today but i dont think he will be making an appearance just yet.
ds1 is 13 months.

sn4ho · 06/09/2006 16:28

Wow 1bump1baby - you're going to have your hands full with 2 really little ones! Good luck with the birth - won't be long now!
My lo is getting on really well in reception, thankyou PP for asking. He is almost a bit too confident! - he was feeling a bit peckish before break time so decided to tuck into his apple in the cloakroom when he was meant to be spending a penny!! Wonder how long before he gets caught doing that!
How are you getting on being back at work and mssing your lo PP?

1Baby1Bump · 06/09/2006 17:22

are any of you ladies sahms?

Steppy1 · 06/09/2006 17:36

Hi All...I'm a sort of SAHM, but seem to have managed to get myself in all sorts of things..not quite sure how that happened..has anybody heard from Locks to see if she's ettled in yet ?

PanicPants · 08/09/2006 21:29

No, haven't heard from Locks Steppy, I guess she's been busy settling in.

Ibaby1bump - Wow! Any news? Thats like me having a new born right now (Ds will be 13 months in a couple of weeks) I couldn't imagine it at all.
No unfortunately I'm not a SAHM but I've a feeling I might be one by Christmas!

Steppy1 · 09/09/2006 08:02

so, how's your first week been PP ? Looking forward to the weekend ?

PanicPants · 09/09/2006 10:30

Actually steppy, the first week at schol was really good, the children are lovely and it was nice to be in a working environment with adults again. BUT the mornings and evenings have been hard, ds has sobbed every evening and really been out of sorts. It hasn't helped that he has a bad cold cold, so I don't know if it's the upset in routine, the cold, or his teeth which are causing the hours of sobbing in the evenings.

And he's been waking up several times in the night this week, which he hasn't done for months

Steppy1 · 09/09/2006 13:35

oh bless....god you must be knackered too if you're getting up in the night and then off to work next day .......

sn4ho · 09/09/2006 18:04

Hang in there PP! I'm sure ds will settle down soon. It must be just the change of routine and being poorly will make that worse. Little ones get used to changes in their own time - eventually!!
You're doing really well.

PanicPants · 09/09/2006 19:02

Lots of coffee in the mornings steppy!!

sn4ho lol at your ds sneakily eating his apple in the cloakroom - what a sweet image!! Thats what makes teaching so rewarding!

Going to have a bottle of wine tonight so I'll sleep through even if ds doesn't!!

Locks · 11/09/2006 18:53

I don't know what happened, I did post a couple of weeks ago but it doesn't look like it worked.

Anyway, I am here and getting more settled in now, this really feels like home now which is great.

Hi to all the new names on here. I am a sort of SAHM, although I do a few bits and pieces including cloth nappies.

OP posts:
Steppy1 · 11/09/2006 18:54

...we wondered where you'd got to !!

Locks · 11/09/2006 20:24

It has been quite hectic over the last couple of weeks and then we had a family wedding and DS1's birthday this weekend.

I am feeling completely shattered, but at least I have a holiday to look forward to

Are any more meet ups planned? I am going to start taking DS2 to sing and sign this week. I am starting to find my way around the area. At least I also know where Kidz Aloud is, even if I failed to see you lot in there!

PanicPants · 11/09/2006 20:25

Oooh where you going on holiday?

busybusymum · 14/09/2006 13:12

Hi SAHMof1

I know Highworth and I know a few people who use cloth nappies. How do you get on with them? How old is your LO?

Locks · 15/09/2006 19:54

We are off to Center Parcs in Norfolk - I am trying to find out about their laundry facilities, but can't find any info.

I can't wait to have a week where I don't have to do anything as I feel so shattered. All we have to do now is get packed up ready to go which is an ordeal in itself.

What has everyone else been up to?

Locks your posting sounds familiar. I am currently living in Reading but moving to just outside Devizes in November. I have a ds who will be 2 in November and am due to have second ds in 3 weeks.

tell me about selling houses with a toddler!!!

possumhead · 15/09/2006 21:09

Hi everyone,
Just thought i'd say hello as just discovered this thread!
Also live in Swindon. Already know Panicpants and i know Steppy1 as pp told me who she is.
Hi Steppy, i did you exercise with baby class and we also have a mutual friend who teaches exercise classes!
Anyway hello to all in swindon and hopefully we can all meet up soon.

Locks · 16/09/2006 09:47

Hi nicand2,

Where abouts in Reading are you? I am originally from Reading, but left 8 years ago.

Selling a house with a toddler is not easy, sorry I can't lie! I found the best thing to do was to get the house in selling condition and then spend as much time out as possible!! Thank goodness for my parents and friends is all I can say.

Once you have sold you can of course stay at home. Or you just have to confine the toddler to their bedroom and people expect children's rooms to be untidy.

Hi Locks, we live in Earley.

I think we do have a buyer for the house now so hopefully things should settle down a bit between now and the birth.

Still not looking forward to moving with 2 LO's so young though, like you said we may have to rely on friends and family to help out for a bit. We are also moving due to dh's work but hopefully it will work out a good move

PanicPants · 16/09/2006 16:35

Locks - we are going to centre parks at half term, so you can tell me all about it!

We are going to the Nottingham one just for a long weekend, can't wait.

Hi possumhead, hows you? Have I told you the ds is walking? Well stumbling really. Looks like a little drunk man

Locks · 16/09/2006 18:06

We did Longleat last year, but thought we would go to one nearer home this time - then we moved!! I just hope the weather improves though and I am not sure how I am going to get on pulling DS2 along in one of those carriages!

nicand2 we moved for DH's work and I can honestly say I don't regret it one bit, we really love it here and most people are really friendly. Life is so much more relaxed, when I get to Reading on the M4 I feel a weight on my shoulders now as it is so built up around there.

We decided to move when DS2 was 5 weeks old and it was one of the most stressful times of my life. I wished we had done it before he was born, but I am now making up for it by doing activities that are just me and him. The good thing about moving west is that we were able to get a much bigger house than we could have dreamed of living in if we had stayed in Berkshire.

OP posts:
possumhead · 17/09/2006 14:22

panicpants - thats fab news about ds walking. looking forward to seeing you both on Friday.

nicand2 · 17/09/2006 20:24

Locks - Your last message cheered me up a bit more, everyone says I will love the more rural location. We are actually moving to a smaller house but another of the reasons for moving is that our mortgage in Reading is crippling now I'm not working and the slightly smaller house means finacially, we will have a much better quality of life without having to make so many sacrifices.

I think I will do the same as you and find lots of activities for us to do to help us settle in and enjoy my 2 boys whilst they are young

mummyplonk · 17/09/2006 20:55

Wow, look at all these different names Welcome Nicand2 and glad you are happy Locks, We went to Lechlade this morning and went for a walk along the river (over tons of cow pats and swan droppings!) then sat down and had a picnic in the sunshine, it was so lovely. DP is from East London and he just kept saying what great places there are to go out to around here. Is there going to be another Softplay meet up? 1baby1bump are you now 2baby0bump? (I have 54 weeks between my two and am a SAHM at the mo) And NannyJo & mumofeight are you still there? (mumofeight am in Awe of you)
