Hi everyone, back from a lovely week in Galloway, lots of photos on FB. Great weather, lovely beaches, jellyfish, castles, Crannachan ice cream, time with my boys Grin

DTisMYdoctor · 11/08/2013 13:27

Glad you had a good trip Deb, just sorry you were a bit far do a trip to Edinburgh! Photos looked great.

Stitching, if Gig doesn't mind, do let us know how things go this week. Hope all goes well for you Gig xx

Gigondas · 11/08/2013 18:25

If i am up to posting I will dt but can get dh to message you. I should be fine ( would be fibbing if said I wasn't nervous) but likely to be kept sedated/on observation ward for while which is normal for back surgery.

Holiday pics look fab deb Grin.

DTisMYdoctor · 11/08/2013 21:59

Sorry Gig, I meant could Stitching/Berks keep us updated once she gets updates from your DH. Not expecting you to keep us all in the loop while you're recovering in hospital. Xx

LaGuerta · 12/08/2013 21:05

Hey!!

I am in a pub which has a very tenuous free wifi service and I have managed to load the thread and catch up.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck for tomorrow Gig. I am thinking about you < hug >

Enjoying Wales and having PILs babysit whilst we go out to the pub. Lovely place: beautiful coast, great beach and good pub. So far I am being nice to everyone. Shock Absolutely no mobile reception, so no mouthful by mouthful account on FB. Sorry to disappoint y'all. Wink

StitchingMoss · 12/08/2013 22:56

Hi LG, glad you're having some child free time and all going well on your holiday so far Smile.

Deb, your holiday pics are gorgeous - you're two eldest boys are getting so tall Shock

I am more than happy to keep everyone posted with news on Gig - she's had her MRI today and is not likely to be going into surgery until tomorrow pm as it will be quite a long op (4-6 hours) so I won't bug Mr G until tomorrow evening.

I need to go to bed - Legoland in the morning!

StitchingMoss · 13/08/2013 20:11

Hi guys, just to let you know Gig is conscious and in ITU. Mr Gig going to visit tomorrow but appears op went well x

DTisMYdoctor · 13/08/2013 22:52

Thanks for the update Stitching.

DTisMYdoctor · 15/08/2013 08:56

Any more updates on how Gig is doing Stitching?

StitchingMoss · 15/08/2013 19:14

Hi DT, sorry, should have let you know she texted me today which was lovely. She's sore and v v tired but doing ok. Waiting to hear if she'll need another op (she'll know tomorrow but op will be next week).

Please keep everything crossed for no more ops and home soon x

Thinking of you Gig x

DTisMYdoctor · 15/08/2013 20:28

Thanks Stitching. Got everything crossed for you Gig xx

Gigondas · 16/08/2013 20:19

Am here- sore but doing ok. No definite news on second op but think its likely and may be early next week.

How was ds first day dt? Loved the photos but bet it was emotional.

Wishing stitching a lovely holiday .

DTisMYdoctor · 17/08/2013 11:44

How you feeling today Gig?

DS was fine yesterday, have some more pics to post when I get round to uploading them. I was a bit emotional when I left him, but had to go sort out some forms in the school office so had to pull myself together before the floodgates opened Grin

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 18:53

Am bearing up - can manage little walks out to coffee shops etc so have been out with kids.i feel weak and tired but pain ok.
Just got to find out what next step is -pretty sure it's another op and hoping now its Tuesday so get it done.

Glad ds first day went ok dt . Lag you back?

LaGuerta · 19/08/2013 12:31

Hello,

Yes we are back. It was very weird not having any Internet access or mobile access for a whole week AT ALL. But I kind of liked it.

Gig - thanks for the updates, sorry that another op is looking probable. Am continuing to think of you. . Glad you saw the dds at least.

Stitching - hope you have a great holiday. I think I heard your bro on the radio at about midnight in Sat just as I was drifting off to sleep. I couldn't stay awake long enough to listen out for his name to be sure. Grin

DT - not seen the pics of your DS at school yet. Hope you are both bearing up.

The holiday was mostly good. I would recommend where we were if you like quiet stunning beaches and good food. The weather was good enough to have 4 sunny afternoons on the beach (in the sea) and 2 cloudy ones (in rock pools). Great speed boat trip too to a nearby island where we saw seals. On the PIL front it was ok. I found the first 3 days fine then I had kind of had enough but we muddled through. A couple of classics though that made me indignant and may amuse you:

To DS1: "You are my favouritist grandson."

And

"Of course you can see that DS2 is going to have trouble keeping the weight off himself as he gets older."

And

"Although I am an atheist, I always put 'CofE' on forms because I am a practising Christian." (She never goes to church, and has been known to row with the vicar).

Gigondas · 19/08/2013 20:38

Sounds like good holiday - Grin at mil clearing up issues on her faith.

Am home- bit of a surprise but nice one. Still no definite news on next op but leaning to a no op at the moment.

LaGuerta · 19/08/2013 21:10

Home: Yay Smile

Does this mean you and I can have a date tomorrow at 8pm with The GBBO? Wink

Seriously, I am sure that it's good to be at home, have a good rest.

StitchingMoss · 19/08/2013 22:03

Gig, that's brilliant news! Must be soooo good to be home and fingers crossed for no second op xxxx

Confused at a practising Christian atheist!! Grin.

DT, hope school going well x

We're having a fab holiday despite the weather being shit so far - went to a fab Dinosaur Park today and off to the mountains on Wednesday Smile.

Gigondas · 20/08/2013 11:23

Dinosaur park sounds cool - look forward to pics.

Am loving being home ESP in sun. and nice to be back to normal with Girls .they bought me a mummy pig tee shirt and mini gig loves it so follows me round to kiss the picture.

Lag- you know tonight is special as its bake off back on. Will have wine ready at 8 sharp.

How you doing deb?

LaGuerta · 20/08/2013 17:18

I might just break my post holiday wine ban specially Grin

Gigondas · 20/08/2013 17:35

Wine ban ConfusedShock

LaGuerta · 21/08/2013 16:22

Wine ban will continue to be broken tonight I suspect. We are on day 3 of potty training ds2 at the second time of asking. It's feeling much like the first attempt back in April.

Whilst ds1 was at a music camp this afternoon I took Ds2 swimming. Despite swimming every week with him, today would be the day that he decided to do his first poo in a swim nappy . Could have been worse as we were in the queue for the flume slide at the time, so no leakage issues. But still...

How is DS getting on at school DT?

Gigondas · 21/08/2013 20:41

That sounds like no time for a wine ban lag. I did enjoy putting gbbo to rights by text last night.

Still doing ok (knackered today tho as elie up in night and drugs/hospital messing with sleep pattern). Can move and doesn't seem to hurt (in fact going quite light on painkillers) so all good.

School novelty worn off yet dt? Also when is dsis wedding as saw hen photos on FB?

DTisMYdoctor · 21/08/2013 22:03

Hello all! Gig, belated congrats on getting home. Not been posting but been checking in on updates.

LaG - good luck on the potty training Wine

Glad you're having a good holiday Stitching.

School all going well, though I'm feeling distinctly wobbly about sending DS to breakfast club and after school club Sad. He seems to be enjoying school ok, though still quite apprehensive going in each morning. Very glad I've been off this week to be there for him. SAHM has never appealed to me but I am dreading going back to work next week Sad

I did have a question particularly for Deb and Stitching - DS has been doing some pencil control practice at home and I've noticed he has a tendency to curve his hand around so that the pencil points towards him rather than away if that makes sense - should I leave him to it or try and encourage him to change it? He can hold a pencil correctly, it's just how his hand is.

Wedding in a few weeks Gig - very much looking forward to it! Grin

LaGuerta · 22/08/2013 10:06

Skipped wine last night but hit the Ben and Jerry's.

Yes the GBBO textathon was a good use of a Tuesday night Grin. Good that you are able to ease off the pain killers.

Speaking as a lefty who was allowed to write curving her hand round I would take steps to stop it now!

Glad school good. Good luck for next week. I am sure the anticipation will be worse than the reality and you will both be fine. I take it you are staying at 4 days a week at work?
