Don't hold your breath but looks like we are actually getting the keys for the house at 11.00 on Friday Smile

Gigondas · 01/02/2012 16:57

That is good news deb.

Not such good news here- growth is cancerous so operating on it next week. Had a ct scan to see if spread to lungs - so if you can pray/fingers crossed or whatever it hasn't that would be good . Will know more on Friday pm

LaGuerta · 01/02/2012 17:28

Gig, I am so sorry to hear that. Don't know what to say really. Thinking of you and the family. Xx

TheScottishPlayer · 01/02/2012 18:25

Gig I am so so sorry. You're in my thoughts and prayers xx

Gigondas · 01/02/2012 18:49

Thanks all- lots of distraction and hand holding welcome x

StitchingMoss · 01/02/2012 19:38

Distraction you say? Well, DS has just had me playing 'Santa' which involved not only pretending to visit him on my sleigh while loudly singing 'jingle bells', but also reading 2 Octonauts books in my Santa voice. Doing a gruff Santa doing tweak the bunny is quite a vocal challenge!

As for (virtual) hand holding - any time, just ask. Private messaging on fb is always a good place to shout if you need anyone - I'm never far from my iPhone so would always seem a pm pop up quickly.

Gigondas · 01/02/2012 21:22

Thanks all and will remember that Scottish .
It could be a long 11 months as dd keeps goin on about xmasGrin

StitchingMoss · 01/02/2012 21:26

Grin at Christmas SP - like mother like son eh? Wink

TheScottishPlayer · 01/02/2012 21:32

I know! Even I draw the line at thinking about Christmas in January!!!

disguisedeb · 02/02/2012 00:32

Oh Gig I am so sorry, but will be sending positive vibes your way for it not to have spread and a speedy removal next week. ((((((((hugs)))))))))

disguisedeb · 02/02/2012 00:34

CHRISTMAS Shock

Ethan is still singing nativity songs too, he didn't seem to know them at the time, I think they've just sunk in Wink

LaGuerta · 02/02/2012 11:36

How are you feeling today Gig?

We are also still singing jingle bells, we wish you a merry Christmas etc. eased that it's not just me.

Good luck with the move Deb.

TheScottishPlayer · 02/02/2012 16:41

VERY glad to hear that Christmas is alive and well elsewhere and that it's not just that DS has inherited my festive gene! I thought you'd really appreciate us talking about Christmas Deb Grin

Fingers crossed you get the keys ok tomorrow Deb! How are things with the search for somewhere to buy?

LaG - when will you move? Are the boys excited?

Gig, I hope you managed to get some sleep last night. How is DD2 doing? The photos you have on fb are gorgeous. How is DD1 enjoying being a big sister? Did you resort to the gate to keep DD1 from waking your DH? I was thinking about you re: late night tv watching during feeds - not sure if you can get it anywhere but have you watched Pan Am at all? It's actually been cancelled so there will only be about 12 episodes or so but it's my new favourite guilty pleasure. It requires zero concentration and would be perfect for 2am feeds etc!

Back on Christmas (just for Deb Wink) - I have posted on a Christmas thread!!! But only to tell the OP that I wouldn't buy presents before August. She wants to buy her DSs (one is 3 just now) 'main' presents now. I'd say approaching 4 is definitely the age to start holding off buying big presents till as late as possible. After the rocking chair incident I've learned that buying early is a risky strategy with young ones! How did all of your DC like their presents by the way? Any big hits or misses? I think with Christmas being so busy we probably didn't have that kind of chat. Gig, what was the present that was getting shipped to France - was it a piano? DD1 isn't playing lullabies on it at night to 'help' DD2 sleep is she?

Actually, on lullabies, DS is currently wreaking revenge for 3 years + of my tuneless dulcet tones - he now insists on singing lullabies to me. And yes, he's clearly inherited my, ahem, musical ear. Grin

I'm at work so I really should get back to it!

disguisedeb · 02/02/2012 19:53

Just a quickie amidst the packing boxes to see how you and your gorgeous girls are today Gig? Things I've enjoyed watching recently have been Stella on sky and Birdsong on bbc1, might be worth a look when you feel like you're the only one up and awake , with too much time to think.

SP - I agree, it is way too early to buy big presents !! Big hit of Christmas was police dressing up outfit.

Still getting keys tomorrow but panicking now as the snow is due to arrive on Saturday, it was -5 today, but no snow yet. Why do we always move when there's snow??

disguisedeb · 02/02/2012 19:55

Stitching, I am so happy to hear about your job, I was thinking about you last night and wondering what time your interview was today. That haircut obviously made all the differenceWink Is it f/t?

Gigondas · 02/02/2012 20:29

Stitching GrinGrin on job.

Thanks for all kind words. Still up and down but my mum came over today and was great as she has been though this with her own cancer. Also the thread on here fantastic . But do appreciate you all as have known you longest.

Girls ok although dd1 does ask about my hip and when I am going to hospital so I think it adds to her being unsettled . Dh nanny and me working to reassure her as this bothers me as hate to see her upset. Dd2 happy if fed and cuddled and although she is very little that makes her easier as is ok with mum/dad/nanny. Lucky I chose to mix feed tho bf going quite well (irony) as can express or bottle feed if out/done in.

Thanks for tv suggestions . And Smile at Xmas chat- agree its far too early to get Xmas presents.

LaGuerta · 02/02/2012 22:25

Deb - yes the weather could make moving fun. I have sent the agent an email asking him to check that the heating will be on in the house for the next few days as we had understood that it was now vacant. However it turns out vendor has moved back in and is now leaving us with his white goods for free! So hopefully no burst pipes, and a warm house. We will have to see about the snow. Tonight the BBC forecast is a cop out - they are refusing to make a stab at where it will snow. It looks as though we could be the owners of three fridges next week. We complete on Thursday.

Other good news here is that I have managed to get DS1 his full 15 hours of preschool in one setting. I had been struggling to find anywhere with more than 9 hours available, but my original top choice has had some swapping around. I am relieved. In answer to the question about whether the boys are excited about moving. DS1 has been a PITA ever since we told him the move is going ahead. He does have a cold though. Non the less I have been a bit Angry with him Blush. I think he is very excited. DS2 just busy being 15 months old

My top tv suggestion is "Being Erica" on c4 on Sundays. It is very frothy but all too watchable. Other guilty pleasures are "15
Kids and Counting" and "call the mw".

Night all xx

TheScottishPlayer · 03/02/2012 08:10

Quick post - Gig, I'll be thinking about you today. Let us know how you get on x

Gigondas · 03/02/2012 08:58

Thank you Scottish - I really hope it's better news. At least will have plan to focus on re treatment. Lovely thread here of people who are going thorough /been through similar which helps.

Don't envy you moving deb - it's bloody freezing here.

Gigondas · 03/02/2012 15:33

Inconclusive News as seen some odd spots (that need to check aren't cancer) on lungs or spine. They are small and don't look obviously worrying and may well be hormone/pregnancy related as I am a first in how close to birth I am.

So MRI scan /oncologist then more update following that - which will be when they remove it (before or after radio therapy). Please keep sending good vibes. Am more calm and determined now

LaGuerta · 03/02/2012 16:28

That sounds like very confusing and difficult news Gig. More waiting which is never great, but unavoidable I suppose. When is the next appointment?

I've been meaning to ask: how is your DH handling this? Glad your Mum is able to support you too.

Gigondas · 03/02/2012 16:39

Lag I think I am just braced and numb so confusing and difficult par for course. What I want to hear is that it will be ok
And they are not going to say that .

.Also part of me thinks it seems to have taken this long (or so it seems) to find out that I would rather they were thorough on analysis.
Also am clinging onto idea that as its not obvious that might mean its ok and they are small so even if are nasty they are early:

How is everyone else doing?

Gigondas · 03/02/2012 17:02

Dh is handling it ok- he can be very focused and compartmentalise his emotions so he is doing the talking to dr and arranging stuff as my head all over the place.
I am grateful to him and know its tough on him

TheScottishPlayer · 03/02/2012 21:06

Good vibes flowing from here to you Gig. I'm sorry you didn't get more conclusive news. I'm really glad you've got good support.

Not much to report on from here. Snow unlikely and a weekend of house chores ahead. Must try and fit something in that's fun for DS. Does anyone else find it difficult to balance chores and family time at the weekend. I'm really trying to get more done during the week, but it's 6.30 by the time we get home in the week and after tea, bedtime, clear up etc it's 9pm and we're knackered!
