Getting exciting now Grin Wink!

Well done Stitching and good luck for Thursday!

Sorry about ongoing house woes for LaG and Deb.

LaG, your friend's take on going to church to get DC into a particular school is exactly what I mean. When did the middle classes get so obsessed by the quest to get into the perfect school? Perhaps if more of them sent their kids to their local school and were actively involved in the local school it would be a better school. I know everyone wants the best for their kids and I can understand people taking desperate measures to avoid failing schools, but your friend and those like her sound like it's just about 'having the best'. Gah.

Gig, I hope your absence means you're getting lots of snuggles with DD2. If you're reading this - did I tweet you yesterday? If so, I only realised it was you yesterday! If not, a random stranger (not that unusual on twitter obv) has been tweeting me Grin

Gigondas · 28/01/2012 14:17

It was me scottish - am reading and lurking but as you say enjoying rest and time with dd2 and dd1 (who is back on me and off dad - divide and rule here).

Biopsy was quick but bit sore - hear more sometime next week.

Couldn't agree more re church schools (we have one at end of our road so a lot of on your knees to avoid fees types here).

Sorry about respective house woes.

I did do a monster post but it got lost

TheScottishPlayer · 28/01/2012 14:36

Ah, good to know! I'd been wondering for a while who that tweeter was but the penny only dropped yesterday.Blush

Sorry the biopsy was sore. How are you feeling generally now? Are you getting much sleep?

Gigondas · 28/01/2012 17:50

I even did a tweat for you Wink

LaGuerta · 29/01/2012 08:50

Hello.

Sorry that the biopsy was sore Gig. Thinking of you this week. Glad you are tucked up at home with your girls.

DS2 provided us with an entertaining night last night by being sick the moment we put him in his cot at 7pm. Poor chap was so shocked. He was only sick again another two times all night. I still found myself operating the washing machine at 1.10am though! He hasn't been sick yet this morning, but not really eating.

Stitching - thank you for the sympathies on the property thread! I assume I am "the friend" of which you speak? Wink

StitchingMoss · 29/01/2012 19:18

Grin at on your knees to avoid the fees - haven't heard that one before!

LG, yes it was you Grin - you have my every sympathy and I truly hope it's all over for you soon. Having sold five houses now I have zero time for the ridiculous system in England that allows people to chop and change their mind all the time and hold them to ransom as you have been Angry.

Just back from friends who have got an 8 yrd old and 10 yr old DD and DS - their children put ours to bed (including reading them stories) and then got them up this morning, took DS1 to the loo and entertained them both til about 8.30! Shock Result! Not only that, but they sent us home with a fab wooden garage and a marble run that's bigger than DS2 Grin! The dh has been best friends with my dh since they were 11 so they go way back - a good night all round Smile.

Right, off to upload pics and watch Call the Midwife Smile. Hi to everyone x

Gig, good to hear from you, sorry biopsy left you sore though.

stitching, good luck for Thursday, and I love call the midwife too, did you watch Birdsong after? Our boys get up with Ethan at the weekend if they hear him, which is lovely, I know we are very lucky!!

Lag - hope ds2 is better soon

SP -good weekend?

Packing here, and trying to sort out internet and tv for new house, I may be absent for a while!!

TheScottishPlayer · 30/01/2012 19:32

Good weekend here thanks Deb. Had a friend over to stay and stayed up VERY late drinking chatting on Saturday. Bathroom finally painted! Woo hoo!

LaG I loved the on your knees to avoid the fees. I'm definitely filing that one away!

Has anyone made any progress with houses today?

Gig, loved the pic of your DDs on fb - I hope you're more comfortable now.

Mudwiggle - you must be moving soon I think?

Absolutely shattered here. Had a nice afternoon out with DH and DS to make up for birthday disaster, however, it wasn't quite the same as the grown up lunch and stress free shopping trip that I had been looking forward to last week Hmm Grin

Not sure if I said it last week but my big fear re: DS's missing tooth is that it makes him look really cheeky and I worry that when he goes off to school he'll get labelled as cheeky just because he looks that way? I'm probably being very silly (DH thinks so) but I can't help worrying about it. It doesn't help that he's going through a very cheeky phase!

StitchingMoss · 30/01/2012 20:00

Aw, I love cheeky boys Smile. Don't worry about it SP, teachers will learn their personalities from more than a missing tooth Smile.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 30/01/2012 20:54

Agree with stitching that tooth won't label his character. Dd1 going through bossy phase and keeps talking over adults so nanny and I working on that. Glad you had a nice day scotch on your take 2 birthday and a nice weekend.

Glad you liked FB stories - the story begin that was dd2 up most of night feeding (but is putting on weight - 2 ounces more than birth weight) and then dd1 got up to play with dh . Both eventually fell asleep but dh not happy. Spare room for us next night like that as dd2 woke dd1 who then wakes dh.

Am not doing too bad - follow up appt on Weds pm to get biopsy results and see what happens next . I am really worried and hope its nothing serious and can be resolved by surgery (have resigned myself to that and earlier the better as breaking my heart not being able to get out with dd1).

Lag / deb any house news?

Stitching how is interview prep done?

Gigondas · 30/01/2012 20:55

Photos not stories Blush

disguisedeb · 30/01/2012 20:59

SP - it's usually the angelic looking boys you have to watch!!

Gig - LOVE your photo on FB Smile

No house progress here as I was called in to do supply at short notice this morning so that's me out of packing for 2 days. I could have done with staying home and packing but needs must!!

Gigondas · 30/01/2012 21:00

Deb that is good you seem to be getting work even if could use the time .

StitchingMoss · 30/01/2012 22:10

How are you managing childcare with supply work Deb [nosey emoticon], is dh at home? Have been offered supply but childcare too complicated Sad.

Gig, are you still not able to walk far then? Sad You poor thing. Keep us posted on Wednesday and fingers crossed all ok and surgery booked in quick.

Interview prep fine - feel fairly confident as I know the subject well. Going out to buy a copy of the TES tomorrow just to catch up on any last minute SEN news. Deb, do you know of anything from your school contacts?

OP posts:
TheScottishPlayer · 30/01/2012 22:12

Thanks everyone. I know I'm worrying about nothing.

Gig - I'm glad you don't have to wait too long for the results. I'll be sending you positive vibes! Sorry you had a tough night. I hope you all get a bit more sleep tonight.

Glad your getting some supply Deb - just typical that it's this week!

disguisedeb · 30/01/2012 23:04

Stitching, yes dh is at home , the problem is only having 1 car but we manage (sort of) When ethan starts school he will be on the bus so that will be even easier. No current SEN news, sorry, but if I get chance tomorrow I'll ask. Barely had time to eat today, as teaching off the cuff with no planning, being Monday morning. Didn't get as far as the staffroom!

LaGuerta · 30/01/2012 23:10

No exchange of contracts today. Sad. Maybe tomorrow Hmm. The hold up is our buyers. They asked for a new contract to be sent to them by our solicitor at the end of last week. The first version only had her name on it (at their request), now they both want to be on it. The new contract hasnt yet come back to their solicitor. However their solicitor has got their desposit, so it seems that they are intending to go through with the purchase. Meanwhile, our seller is getting very angsty. He has money issues we understand.

Good luck for the interview Stitching.

Deb - hope the children in the classroom are being good for you.

Gig - will be thinking of you on Wednesday. Loved the photo.

SP - glad you have had a happier few days. The tooth thing is temporary, and they will judge him on his behaviour not his looks I think.

LaGuerta · 31/01/2012 18:23

EXCHANGED GrinGrinGrin

Complete a week on Thursday Confused

Gigondas · 31/01/2012 18:27

GrinGrinGrin that's great lag.

Nothing to report as lazy day here and my dad visited and was reassuring re hospital . Oh and If you are sleep deprived number jacks doesn't seem so bad.

StitchingMoss · 31/01/2012 18:28

Yay and Sad at the same time LG Blush.

Will miss you being 40 mins away, but planning a trip to my folks in the Easter holidays so hopefully catch up then.

How exciting! Was just showing dh the details - you won't know yourself with all that space!

OP posts:
TheScottishPlayer · 31/01/2012 19:32

Sheesh, you must be seriously sleep deprived Gig!!! Grin How was last night?

Yay LaG! How exciting. V pleased for you Grin

We're going to get our house valued and speak to a financial advisor and think about whether we should put our house on the market. The bathroom painter has just quoted a pretty cheap price to paint our living room and kitchen so I'm feeling quite spurred on. We could do it ourselves but it's just a bit of a hassle with DS.

Straw poll - how important would nice new bedroom carpets be to viewers? If we stay till next year I'd replace them but don't really want the cost and faff for the short term. They're not awful but a couple of grubby spots that could be hidden by strategically placed rugs

disguisedeb · 31/01/2012 19:32

Grin that's great news LaG

Gigondas · 31/01/2012 19:35

I think vanish works well on dirty carpets
So I would give them a clean but wouldn't bother me overly as I think flooring not a deal breaker.

Last night not too bad with dd2 but dd1 keeps waking dh up. I am tempted to leave stair gate on (which do when goes to bed) to save dh sleep (she wakes him) but that does seem mean.

LaGuerta · 31/01/2012 22:15

Thanks all for your congratulations.

SP - LOL that you are thinking of going on the market now. We can't have Deb as the sole house hunter!

Re: carpets: I preface this by saying that we are the people buying the shithole that no-one else wanted for 2+ years so feel free to ignore...

...however I think that as long as the carpets are clean it doesn't matter about some marks. If they were stinking of dog wee or something seriously unpleasant then it would be worth changing them, but normal wear and tear shouldn't put people off.

Agree with Gig about vanish. If it needs more than that you can hire DIY carpet cleaning machines from dry cleaners, homebase etc for £20 or so. We did it when we moved in and the colour of the water afterwards was something else.

TheScottishPlayer · 31/01/2012 22:22

Good idea re the carpet cleaning - we did that a few years back. If I have to spend any money sprucing the place up to go on the market I'd much rather spend it on the main living areas etc or on things we can take with us.
