Getting exciting now Grin Wink!

OP posts:
Gigondas · 31/07/2012 17:40

That's great re swimming- dd has improved tons too since having lessons pirate

Grin at ds2- one of minor benefits of being here is not refereeing big gig and her Olympic antics.

I know what you mean about boaties (think we were same uni) lag . They also always seemed to be eating cereal out of packets in the common room on rare times were there and had zero chat (aside from the dubious celeb value of potentially being in with possible chance of boat race place) as were always training.

Have been text moaning to pirate but bit meh and down as stuck here, tired (hospital no place to rest) and bit Hmm with dh. Partly unreasonable as he goes on holiday and am Envy but also some of his chat a bit bloke ish and not comforting. Today Apparently am in catch 22 as am young cancer can go quicker as am healthy and can tolerate more treatment but that level of treatment can also harm me. This is I think straight from that well know school of science "man in the pub" but not the level of comfort I am looking for.

Am here til Sunday now as think have handle on infection but want to keep me I and then chemo me on Thursday .

Self indulgent rant over - feel like can't talk about kids as never see them (exaggeration). Back to olympics and chocolate.

Have you tried The bbc thing on what is your Olympic body type. I am a Japanese boxer ...

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 17:51

(((((((((((Gig))))))))))

And gentle verbal slap for Gig's dh Hmm. As I said to you yesterday, think he's trying to fill the silence and even our nearest and dearest can say some bloody stupid things when can't think of anything to say Sad.

Will come and visit Monday but be prepared for a very unimpressed DS1 when he realises his buddy (i.e. Big Gig) is not in town! Grin

Think I will avoid body type thing as will probably come out as sumo Blush.

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 18:14

(((hugs )) needed. I think hospital sends you doolally - noticed beforr 3 days is as long as you can take so god knows how the long term patients do it.

Big gig may not be there but her toys will be Grin

was not happy with Japanese boxer so don't blame you. Dh came out as someone who looks like a dead ringer for kenny noye.

And am sure you are right about dh- it's the same kind of foot in mouth you get whenever someone is distressed . We have all had the tactless comment when split up with someone etc

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 18:47

DS2 will be happy with the toys - DS1 is more of a people person and will be disappointed!! Grin I'm sure he'll get over it but we had big sulks when I told him!! Grin

I could write a book on tactless comments about all sorts of things, and I'm sure we all could. It's truly amazing what people say sometimes - it would help if some people remembered RK's words, "you say it best when you say nothing at all" Grin!

Btw, I was wondering if we should start a new thread - was thinking of new title in honour of Gig, "Living String" Grin Wink.

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 18:54

Lol - am not sure am always living string but I try.

Mini and big gig coming to visit tomorrow so am super happy Grin

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 18:58

Ah, that's great news Smile.

Btw, for those of you wondering what the hell we're talking about, Gig told me when diagnosed that she was reading Lance Armstrong's website - I am a big fan and told her how important it was to Live Strong, only I misspelt it!! Grin

It's become a bit of a daft joke now Grin.

LaGuerta · 31/07/2012 18:59

Aww Gig. That's rubbish that you are stuck there. AND the family going away too is crummy timing. Sad Have you got your Mum or other family member around to keep you company? Glad the Olympics is some distraction for you, although I am finding Team GB's results (generally below what they were expecting/hoping for) is getting a bit gloomy.

Sorry too that DH is saying the wrong things. Have you told him how he is making you feel?

I am free next week certainly till Wednesday, so if you think a second set of rowdy boys is what you need, text me. I have various other friends in your neck of the woods that I owe visits to, so could do a double visit and not stay too long. Xx

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 19:08

I have told him - and vented at hospital therapist too.

My sis and dad around - my mum on holiday at minute (pre planned ) but back end of next week . Wont rant again but her comments not that helpful at time (apparently I haven't eaten properly since I left home hence this issue Hmm).

Visit would be good- will text to sort out. Run of toys for your boys too (although I can see how well pink Lego may go down so may hide that Grin).

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 19:49

Shock at your mum Gig!!!!!

LG, I agree re: the medal haul. Very very disappointing Sad. Although currently feeling v sad for that poor Chinese girl, and also Tom and those horrible tweets Sad.

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 20:50

Medals will come- I think possibly after Beijing and the idea of home impact we might have got carried away.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 21:07

I agree Gig, it's just such a shame when so much was expected - feel sorry for the athletes who haven't made the grade tbh.

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 21:11

Still made grade from where I sit.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 21:39

Oh god I wasn't criticising them!! I think they're all amazing - I mean for them. Cavendish for example, felt absolutely gutted for him Sad, and Daly. They've waited so long for this moment and it would have meant so much to them.

Gigondas · 31/07/2012 22:01

I know what you mean. I felt so sorry for cav. I think Daley a great athlete but am a bit meh about the publicity around him.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 31/07/2012 22:23

I think it's cos of his youth and the tragic back story of his dad.

Anyway, you should be asleep young lady!!

Grin
LaGuerta · 31/07/2012 22:24

To clarify, I too feel gloomy about the medal results for the athletes and their families' sakes rather than because I think they are rubbish or have let us down. The gymnastics results were pretty cool though (both men and women) and I enjoyed the swimming this evening, and the footie girls beating Brazil.

Gig - next week we are going up to the in laws in N Yorks either Weds night or Thurs night, so Tues might be better than Weds, but both possible. Don't worry about it now, but, I checked the calendar after I posted, and got my head straighter about my movements next week.

Hmm, your Mum sounds less than helpful with that comment Angry

I hope your DH apologised after you told him how his comments affected you.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 01/08/2012 14:14

No more need for gloom - first gold Grin!

Gig, don't let the docs touch you today - 1st August is doctor hand over day apparently!!

LaGuerta · 01/08/2012 17:36

DH was at the rowing today Envy

Gigondas · 01/08/2012 18:07

Second gold-Allez wiggo Grin

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 01/08/2012 19:51

Yay Wiggo!!!

Boo LG's dh Wink!

Can I share a bit of a proud moment in the pool today while we're talking achievements? DS1 swam on his own for a few strokes!!!! He was on his back, and the instructor was holding his head, and then she let him go and he carried on swimming! He then went under the water and came up laughing Grin! And this was a boy who clung to the side for dear life two days ago Shock!

I cried, as much for his achievement as my total relief that my awful body image hasn't damaged his chances of enjoying swimming Blush.

Right, back to the Olympics Smile.

LaGuerta · 01/08/2012 20:14

Aww that's lovely Pirate.

Just called DH to see if would be home for tea. Nope, still at the hockey, he ended up with a spare ticket which his best mate turned up to use. He will be back late. I love hockey, and I dabbled in rowing. Harrumph.

I am no longer feeling remotely guilty about going away on a spa night with my girlfriends this Saturday (to Basingstoke cos it was cheap Hmm)

LaGuerta · 01/08/2012 20:14

Much more cheery today with the medal haul BTW.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 01/08/2012 20:26

Hmm, that's crap LG Sad.

I think Team GB must have been reading our thread last night tbh Grin!

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 03/08/2012 09:20
Gigondas · 03/08/2012 09:27

Am tired but here . I swear chemo won't do for me but hospital might as had another less than restful night. Do they not know how important it is to be awake for Olympics? Grin
