Getting exciting now Grin Wink!

OP posts:
TheScottishPlayer · 17/02/2012 12:31

Sorry to hear that you had a bad day yesterday Gig. How are you doing today? I hope you get to have a nice relaxing w/e with your DH/DD's.

Which nappy cream are you using? We were quite lucky with nappy rash on DS and he only got it really badly once - metanium (sp?) worked a treat. I used it a lot if he started getting a bit red and it seemed to do the trick in preventing anything developing.

I'm looking forward to reading your story too Dizzy!

Not too much to report here. Unexpected late night out at a work do last night so a bit weary today.

DizzyDancing · 17/02/2012 18:19

Evening Smile.

Gig, so sorry you had such a rubbish day yesterday Sad. Lots of emotions/hormones etc running around inside at the moment, I'm not surprised you're all over the place. I hope today has been better and some cuddles and smiles from the girls have helped.

Had a lovely time at LG's house - and can totally see why she loves it Smile. The views are amazing and the space is wonderful - I know there's lots to do but it's going to be gorgeous when finished Smile. Grin at not arguing with your dad LG - I think I was quite restrained given how ranty he got on occasions Grin Wink! I had to laugh at your mum just telling him to shut up then - you can tell she's well used to it Grin.

As for the willy story: DS2 found one of LG's games for the Wii and asked LG's mum to put it on the tv (thinking it was a DVD). LG's mum was explaining what it was and then turned to DS1 and said: "does your daddy have a Wii?" "Yes," replied DS1, "and he also has a very big willy"!

Luckily LG's mum used to be a primary teacher and does not seem like someone who shocks easily Grin! Made us laugh anyway Grin!

Saw dad yesterday as well and he seemed remarkably well which was very reassuring. I think the inhaler is beginning to help and making breathing easier which is making him less tired and therefore less grumpy. Fingers crossed it's going to be a very slow decline.

Right, need to go and help the boys with tidy up time - help!

LaGuerta · 17/02/2012 23:37

LOL at Dizzy's description of my father. What can I say except sorry? He is awful at banging on about politics. Before you came I debated whether to tell him not to go there because you are "a bit of a lefty". I then realised that this would only encourage him, and he genuinely can't help himself anyway. You were so well behaved though. They think you are just lovely and wanted me to pass on their compliments about your boys. My DS1 was being grotty which only underlined this.

Gig so sorry that yesterday was miserable. How was today? I'm sad that there isn't more I can do to help.

Better go to sleep I suppose.

Gigondas · 18/02/2012 08:00

Grin at dizzys son and description of visit. Sounds like a nice day.

Did feel a lot better yesterday and taking it easy today. We had a lively night (more dh than me) As dd1 has a cold and dd2 was unsettled. Have just rung hospital to ask
About my wound as want to check healing ok- I will spare you the pus porn details Wink but naturally am hyper sensitive about getting infected.

Off to read more about Sam Taylor wood- am finding it helpful to find good examples of people who have got through this when I am down.
Lag tbh just coming on here and being able to chat like we always do is really good- have to remember that life goes on and I can live through/survive this and not let it takeover.

Sorry all a bit profound on a Saturday morning- blame it on early start. Any good plans for weekend ?

TheScottishPlayer · 18/02/2012 08:17

Grin at Dizzy being a 'bit of a lefty'. Sounds like you all had a good time despite your DS being a bit grotty! Great word! Has Dizzy posted pics yet (not that you're predictable on that front Dizzy Wink).

Glad you had a better day yesterday Gig. My weekend plans are crumbling. A friend was supposed to visit this weekend from London, but he's ill Sad. We were going to go ahead with our planned visit today but DS's temperature shot up yesterday (there's been something going round the nursery), so we've had to cancel the trip (and the painter who was coming to do the kitchen). To add insult to injury I've woken up with a stinking cold. Sad We still have friends coming for Sunday lunch tomorrow so hoping we don't have to cancel.

DizzyDancing · 18/02/2012 11:19

Aw bless them LG Smile, that's very sweet. I'm not surprised your DS1 was a bit excited - he's just moved to this amazing new house, has had both sets of GPs to stay in a week and then had friends arrive too - a lot for him to take on board! Grin

I'm very pleased you didn't tell your dad I was a "bit of a lefty" - I would have been very insulted as I'm "a lot of a lefty" Grin Wink. Seriously though I never argue politics with people who have very strong opposing views as the only thing we'll do is annoy each other - it's not like either of us were going to have a Road to Damascus conversion and suddenly agree Grin!

Sorry to disappoint SP but no photos this time - thought LG probably had enough on her plate without me trying to corral (sp?) the boys into photo opportunities! Grin I am hoping to visit again at Easter though where I promise to snap away and show you the full gorgeousness of the house Smile.

Gig, sorry you had a low day yesterday. I didn't realise Sam Taylor Wood had had cancer - I loved her film Nowhere Boy, brilliant Smile. Lance Armstrong is of course another inspiration - but you're a big TDF fan so you'll know all about him Smile.

SP, rubbish about your weekend plans Sad. We've got nothing planned at all this weekend cos I start work on Monday and the decorators are coming in on Thursday to do the bathrooms so we need to go to B&Q! DS1 is utterly unimpressed with a "trip to the shops" being all we can offer him by way of entertainment - I think my 3yr old is getting used to a slightly too exciting social life Grin!

TheScottishPlayer · 18/02/2012 17:45

Good luck on Monday Dizzy! I'm the same re arguing politics with people with strong opposing views. I think when you've worked in politics too people treat you like you're an official spokesperson for whichever Party you support.

My cold hasn't got much better Sad DS has unusually conked out on the sofa. Carpol/Nurofen keeping his temp at bay but as soon as they start to wear off he's like a furnace.

I fear we may have to cancel the last of our plans tomorrow Sad which is particularly unfortunate as it's friends (who are in fact politicians) so it's always hard to get a date in the diary with them. Tomorrow has been organised for months.

LaGuerta · 19/02/2012 00:11

Ikea this evening for DH and I. We were pretty much the last people off the premises having had to work some magic to fit it all in the car. That is this weekend's highlight. My dear father has expressed an interest in visiting Newhaven ferry terminal as a reccy prior to their next trip to France with the caravan Hmm. We know how to have fun in this family.

Gigondas · 19/02/2012 07:17

Smile you know how to live lag. Dh will be keen on new haven trip as he had a job on docks there as a student . I dont think there is much there aside from a big Sainsburys (it was about 5 minutes from where mil lived til she moved).

Quiet weekend here- dsis may visit later. Sorry ds poorly and you are scottish. Dd1 not that great either so is quite grumpy (and sniffing loudly in bed next to me as I type this).

How is ds1 coping with his quiet weekend dizzy?

disguisedeb · 19/02/2012 07:48

I posted a long message the other night from my phone and its gone.

Glad to hear you're in a more positive place now gig.hope dd1 stops sniffing soon! How does she like being a big sister?

dizzy and lag, love the stories about your meet up.

Lag, are you still living amongst boxes? We are!

Dizzy good luck for tomorrow.

Sp, hope you feel better soon, what a shame you've had to cancel plans for the weekend.

I'm feeling guilty as the boys are back at school tomorrow and we've done very little with then this holiday apart from unpack and move boxes.tomorrow its tristans birthday, he's had a birthday sleepover though and trip to the cinema club in the village.at the cinema club there's an interval with tea and biscuits.we know how to live here in mickleton! Doesn't quite matchup to a ferry terminal trip though! Meeting halfway with mil, bil and sil today for lunch and bringing mill back too stay.so then we'll be off to ikea too this week.

Nothing more to report here, still no TV .internet or phone, speak soon

DizzyDancing · 19/02/2012 09:23

I can beat you all to the award for most exciting weekend activity ever - I spent yesterday whitening the tile grout in my shower Grin! I know, I know, you're all very jealous Wink.

Grin at a trip to Newhaven port - hope you have an exciting time! Was IKEA for storage solutions? What did you get? Love IKEA - just wish they'd hurry up and open one near us!

Deb, lovely to hear from you - I expect the boys had a lovely half term just chilling and settling in to their new house so I wouldn't worry Smile.

SP, sorry you're still feeling crap - I hate cancelling plans cos of illness, it's so annoying.

I did have to laugh at Gig's post though: I read "Sorry ds poorly and you are scottish" as she was sorry that you were Scottish Grin Grin Grin! It's not your fault after all Wink!

Gig, both boys were a bit wild yesterday mainly, I think, due to lack of exercise. We're going for a walk soon up to the local park as our town's half marathon is on today - dh wants to run it next year so we thought we'd go and have a look. Then I need to have a big blitz of the house and do the ironing etc in preparation for tomorrow - so excited now Smile.

Hope you all have a lovely day Smile.

TheScottishPlayer · 19/02/2012 09:39

There's nowt wrong with being Scottish! Wink

DS's temperature seems back to normal so we're going to go ahead with today. I'll just try not to sneeze over anyone. DH has offered to take some toil tomorrow so I can take it easy.

I love trips to ikea too - ours is about 5 minutes away Grin

DizzyDancing · 19/02/2012 13:16

Grin @ SP - glad you get your lunch with your politicians Smile, I'm assuming they're of the correct colour? Wink

Just been to watch the half marathon and have been seriously inspired to dust my running shoes off again. My PT has really helped stabilise my pelvis so hopefully I can start pounding the streeets soon Smile.

TheScottishPlayer · 19/02/2012 18:18

I have lots of pals who are elected politicians and they're all the right colour in my book Grin

TheScottishPlayer · 19/02/2012 18:19

Lunch was lovely btw!

DizzyDancing · 19/02/2012 19:40
Grin
TheScottishPlayer · 19/02/2012 23:47

I'm thinking LaG's dad would love Sunday lunch round my house arguing about how best to put the world right Grin

LaGuerta · 20/02/2012 21:36

How was today Dizzy?

My parents have now gone so for the first time in 10 days we are without either variety of GPs. They have been very good but it is still a bit of a relief.

DS started at his new pre school today. He was v happy going in and at the end the owner was very nice about him Smile saying she would happily "have 10 of him". So all good.

Deb - we are very much still living in boxes. We can't unpack our clothes until we have completed constructing our new wardrobes. I have decided to do 1 box an evening if only to know that eventually I will get it done.

Gigondas · 20/02/2012 21:43

That's good ds liked pre school lag. Admire your efforts on boxes .

Bit tired to post more but marking spot

DizzyDancing · 20/02/2012 22:23

Quick post as I'm totally knackered! Blush

Today went really really well - loved being back at work, great colleagues, really interesting work and being thrown in at the deep end with a case load from day one Smile. Icing on the cake is the boys were thrilled to see their CM and her kids again and had a fab day too Smile.

LG, glad to here how well your lovely DS1 did Smile.

Gig, thinking of you and hope your recovery from the op is going ok xxx

Hi to everyone else x

disguisedeb · 20/02/2012 23:14

Just checking in on gigs recovery and f
Dizzys 1 st day.

Been recommended by head I've been working for, for some long term supply at a village school, going to visit tomorrow.it's 4 Weeks and could be longer.now trying to work out logistics of only having 1 car, can't afford to get another for 4 Weeks work, so need too speak nicely to some friends to see if they can take Ethan to nursery for us.

Looking forward to meeting the head and setting school tomorrow.

TheScottishPlayer · 21/02/2012 09:41

Glad day 1 went well Dizzy and good news on the supply work Deb. I hope you figure out the childcare logistics.

How are you doing today Gig? What's next for you (if you want to talk about it, that is). How's DD2 coming along?

LaG - did your DH's iPad etc turn up?

Has Mudwiggle been on since her return to Uk?

Not much happening here. Been all flu-like over last couple of days so have taken today off. Currently trying to stop myself buying a Kenwood Prospero...

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 10:20

Am so pleased that day one went well dizzy. And deb hope you get logistics sorted for the supply work.

Scottish - how you feeling today? And what is a ken wood prospero?

Dd2 doing well- is quite a determined little thing and already has her dad round her finger communicating in coos and grunts. Is more alert by day too and taking interest in toys /people esp dd1. She is generally very easy going and even managed to sleep 10-5 yesterday (shame I didn't ).

Wound going ok- its slow work as is big scar and awkward to keep it still/clean but surgeon is happy. I had to go in yesterday to get dressing changed etc and also needed antibiotics as minor infection in it.

Next up is oncologist appt next week where find out what next treatment is. An half dreading this but also want to find out what is going on so can get head round that. Dh wants results on tests post surgery ASAP but I would rather wait til next week and brace myself.

I am up/down with how I cope- tbh the newborn thing (lag did you find you had sore tummy muscles like too many sit ups post c section?), op mixed in with fear of the worst can make some days tough. Basically I don't think I have much spare emotional or physical energy.

TheScottishPlayer · 21/02/2012 13:55

I'm not surprised you don't have much spare energy Gig. You're going through a lot. Have you got much help this week? Is your mum still around?

A kenwood prospero is a food mixer that also has a food processor and blender attachments. We have a crap food processor that we don't use because it's too much faff to get out of the cupboard, but a prospero would live on the counter top and I think we'd use it loads more. There was a thread on here about it so I'm currently 'negotiating' with DH over it as it's a good price on Amazon just now.

In other frivolous news, I've found some alternative curtains I think. At dunelm mill of all places. I need to check the measurements and find the rings for our curtain pole (as these are pencil pleat and not eyelet) but they don't have that MIL floral look about them which is a good thing. Just cream and green stripes. Nothing special but I think they'll go.

Gigondas · 21/02/2012 15:30

Curtains sound good. Went and googled ken wood prospero and looks good. We have a Masterchef (posh Xmas gift) a few Years back which is ace but it's heavy and I must admit i don't get it out as much as I should cos of that.

Had nap so feel better than I did - l would even do some knitting if I didn't have a Hol asleep on me (forgets resolution that wouldn't do this with dd2 Grin)
