Hope this works, a shiny new thread girls - come on in Smile.

Can't think what trick it would be that you would fall for given collective history of agent and buyer .

LaGuerta · 22/12/2011 08:30

You're right. I reached advanced paranoia sometime ago.

Gigondas · 22/12/2011 16:24

I need to vent AngryAngryAngry or Maybe hormones. Present wrapping - dh (can't say much as he is dd dad Wink) and my mum have gone overboard.
I don't mind new toys etc but on proviso they aren't too big and we recycle as we get new stuff.

Dh has bought e a dolls house (big and bulky... But can put some of fisher price aside). My mother has got her load of barbie stuff (she wants it and might not be my thing but it's better than most things girly). But on top of that bought her an extra "little " present of a toy piano. Have just opened box... It's not little , it's about a foot square and obviously will be noisy.

Have just done nice nesting type tidy up of sitting room pre Xmas/ pre dd2 to get toys into 2 bags. Now will have this thing either stuck there or in bedroom (and I don't need to be mystic meg to see how getting out of bed to play the piano will be desirable ....)

I really want to send it back..
I am being mean arent I?

Gigondas · 22/12/2011 16:25

Piano playing desirable for e - not me or dh (well assume not dh but he did buy me a chas and Dave album recently as a "joke" so maybe he would be tempted)

StitchingMoss · 22/12/2011 17:06

Grin at images of you and dh sneaking out of bed at midnight for a sneaky duet!

Tough one Blush. How upset will your mum be if you had a quiet word and said thanks but no thanks?

StitchingMoss · 22/12/2011 17:07

Could you tuck it into a corner of your kitchen?

Gigondas · 22/12/2011 17:27

Thanks but no thanks chat didn't go so well... She was being particularly bonkers

Kitchen is an Idea or maybe it could go and live in France Wink

WhatWouldLeoDo · 22/12/2011 20:29

Gah, just lost a massive post. Ne'er mind, in summary, I have the Christmas lurgy and I dispensed with witty and insightful but worse than useless advice for Gig.

disguisedeb · 22/12/2011 23:40

Gig, France is the answer

LaG - any news on the house?

my Birthday tomorrow, went to see Arthur Christmas yesterday at cinema (ethan's 1st time) and it was a great film, some a bit over his head but we all loved it.Dh is grumpy as I persuaded him thatwe should go away to sils for Christmas , I'm looking forward to not catering, boys are excited, and sil and bil(no children) are beyond excitement, honestly, she can't sleep and has been planning lots of santa surprises. Dh meanwhile is grumpy as he hates to be away from home at Christmas, and now bil's parents and gran will also be there that's just tipped him over the edge.should I feel guilty?
rant over

WhatWouldLeoDo · 23/12/2011 12:21

Hope you have a lovely birthday Deb! We saw Arthur Christmas last weekend - I loved it! It went a wee bit over DS's head too, but a great family film that I'd watch again. I liked that it's aimed at all the family with a few jokes just for the grown ups.

Your Christmas plans sound lovely - DH is just a grump! Xmas Grin It'd be different if you were dragging the kids out when they wanted to stay home but it sounds like everyone is looking forward to it.

Quite literally choked with the cold here which is very annoying, but only a couple of hours left and the out of office is on until 4 January. Yay!

StitchingMoss · 23/12/2011 14:51

Aw, Deb, sounds like you're having a lovely time - don't let grumpy dh spoil it!

Had some amazing news here, one of my lovely lovely NCT friends who has been struggling to have her 2nd child is 12 wks pg Grin Grin Grin! She will be the last of the 6 of us to have a 2nd and we're just over the moon for her Grin. Slightly spoilt cos her daft dh announced it to all the boys last night before she'd had a chance to tell us and she was gutted that we all knew today, but it's just made my Christmas Smile.

Right, housework beckons!

Gigondas · 23/12/2011 14:56

Happy birthday for tomorrow deb. your xmAs plans sound lovely- am sure dh will come round when gets there.

That is lovely news stitching ESP if it's friend you have spoken about Grin

Managed to stumble through my jobs and resting now while e at panto (pregnant or not it's a big no to panto from me ).

Names being discussed again here (fortunately the name we call bump which I never liked been discarded ). What do people think about grace? Dh loves it - I am a bit Hmm

WhatWouldLeoDo · 23/12/2011 15:28

That's lovely news Stitching!

Grace - it's a nice name but it probably wouldn't be on my list (though I have one in my family). It's been top of the name lists for a long time, so likely to be very common as she goes through life? Not that that's a reason not to use a name.

My out of office is on! Hurrah! Though time for another lemsip for me

Gigondas · 23/12/2011 15:36

It's not top of mine- mainly as reminds me of playground bully at primary school. But we are getting nowhere fast on others.

Day nurse more effective than lemsip of some medicinal alcohol?

disguisedeb · 23/12/2011 16:36

Had a lovely day so far, boys made my cake this year, it was sitting very prettily in a pool of glittery pink icing.

Leo, hope cold goes soon

Stitching - great news about your friend

Gig - I like the name Grace and I think it goes nicely withE

LaG -Hope you get sold soon and move

Have a Happy Christmas everyoneXmas Smile

WhatWouldLeoDo · 23/12/2011 18:23

Can I have a little rant? DH is driving me bonkers this week. I've completely organised everything to do with Christmas and every single one of the (small number) of Christmas jobs he's been asked to do this week he's completely buggered up. Go to shop to get selection of specialist beers to accompany book about beer for gifts. Comes back with one type of beer for everyone (the point of the present was beer tasting info with selection of beers to try). Get cocktail sausages from the butchers when collecting meat order. Forgot. Make christmas pie with ingredients I ordered. Instead of fresh cranberries (fridge bursting at the seams with them) he uses the dried cranberries which means another trip to the shop and I can't make what I was planning to make tonight. And god knows what it will have done to the pie which should be full of lovely fresh cranberries. 3 hours making the bathrooms gleam Xmas Hmm. I have no idea what he was doing, but I'll need to do them again (bath etc still covered in tile grout). Went to shops tonight to get venison sausages. Forgot. Bought lots of other things that we don't actually need though.

I mean, it's really not fecking hard. He almost put a box of clothes that need to be returned (£100 worth) in the recycling but thankfully spotted what he'd done first.

Gah. I just want to take to my bed for a while to shake off my cold which is getting worse but no chance of that.

WhatWouldLeoDo · 24/12/2011 11:06

Ah, I scared you all away with my rantiness. Gig, I hope I didn't offend you with my views on Grace, FWIW, (especially if you use it Xmas Wink), I do think it's a nice name.

I suspect you're all very busy with Christmas stuff so will wish you all a very merry Christmas for now. Hope you all have a lovely day! x

Gigondas · 24/12/2011 11:08

No you didn't offend me Wink - its on list but tbh that changes daily.

Sorry about your cold/grumpiness. The cranberry thing would have annoyed me too as also have all Xmas food and recipes planned with military precision.

Excitement building here - and that's just me Grin

WhatWouldLeoDo · 24/12/2011 11:58

Phew!

It got worse last night - DH cracked open one of the beers he'd bought for the Christmas presents because he'd been to Sainsbury's to replace some of them so the recipients would get some variety after me complaining about it. Totally missing the point that the original selection of beers he was supposed to buy had been specifically selected by the author (who is a friend) for me to go with the book. When I was a bit upset that he'd buggered up a bunch of Christmas presents (with no real opportunity to fix it today as too much to do already and we have guests coming later) I got the effort that I'd put into Christmas well and truly thrown back in my face. It all sounds bit silly written down I suppose.

This morning he was supposed to take DS out for a couple of hours so I could do some present related chores - he's just gone now (at 11.55am). He's spent the morning fixing various fuck-ups and now I've got loads to do (and get showered/dressed) in 2 hours. Sigh. So instead of having a fairly relaxed Christmas Eve as planned for (with military precision) I'm now upset, stressed and feel ill. Xmas Sad.

Oh and he can back with dried cranberries and macadamia nuts to replace the dried cranberries with a half hearted offer to pick out the nuts. FFS.

Sorry, I will cheer up and get some festive spirit back!

Gigondas · 24/12/2011 13:57

Opened the beer? Helpful ... Sure your cold not helping any Leo. I am lieing here with hip pains gain. And I am still annoyed about the piano Xmas Wink so we can be grinches together .

Oh and happy Christmas everyone else if dont get on again today Xmas Grin

WhatWouldLeoDo · 24/12/2011 14:08

Yes, I think my cold is the biggest culprit, but in the grand scheme of things it's nothing compared to your hip.

And breathe...

I'll be opening some festive fizz in two hours come what may! DH will be spending this evening building DS's garage and rocking chair while I put my feet up, that's for sure!! Have a lovely Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

Gigondas · 24/12/2011 14:11

Ohh Xmas eve building things - that sounds punishing Xmas Smile

LaGuerta · 24/12/2011 23:40

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Sorry I haven't been around to sympathise over the last few days. I too have had my issues with the volume/choice of presents and general lameness of other family members. There is nothing like being with all four GPs under one roof to make me start thinking how great DH is.

Anyway, have a great day tomorrow xx

WhatWouldLeoDo · 24/12/2011 23:44

Hope you have a lovely day too LaG!

DH and I had a big chat earlier and we're all happy again. Santa's been, glass of fizz in hand and had a lovely evening with the IL's.

StitchingMoss · 26/12/2011 10:52

Hi all, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas in the end!

Oh and big thumbs up for Grace here!
