South East Londoner's Christmas Curry Meet-up

All welcome - the usual suspects plus any newbies lurking in the wings! I thought a nice ruby out with the girls to mull over the Christmas shopping we'll all be doing by then would be a great idea.

So, how does Wednesday 14 or Monday 19 December sound? Can't do weekends in December what the social life of my 6 year old DD plus other Christmas festivities already planned.

Is there a nice curry house in Blackheath or Greenwich which would be pretty central?

So post if you want to come and give us a recommendation for a venue.

There's a good Thai in Greenwich (not the same I know, but they both use chillis).

KBear · 30/09/2005 20:05

bran - would you come then and brave that foot tunnel of a night? Would we have to walk you back arm in arm mob handed?

OP posts:
bran · 30/09/2005 20:58

That's kind, but the lift will have stopped, I doubt even the kindest MNetter would rush to escort me when faced with those stairs. I'll take the DLR (we do have public transport on the Isle of Dogs you know).

Dropinthe · 30/09/2005 21:07

I'm there and eating my virtual Pasanda now!

KBear · 30/09/2005 21:32

bran, forgot about the DLR - I'm sooo provincial! Am I the only person in the SE that's never been on the DLR? Must take the kids sometime. In fact I want to do the DLR, the riverboat and loads more now DS is 4 and no buggies are involved in our trips!

Anyway, I digress. Drop, good to hear you're up for it. Got a date you prefer?

OP posts:
Dropinthe · 30/09/2005 21:33

The Monday for me as I work on Wednesdays.

BROWNY · 30/09/2005 21:43

Hi Dropinthe, did you ever find that sleeping bag? Just thought I'd ask

bran · 30/09/2005 21:45

Either of those dates are fine with me, but I may have to back out once we've booked our flights as dh is insisting we go to his family in Kuala Lumpur for Christmas.

Hoges · 03/10/2005 07:53

I'd love to join you girls for this one. As far as I know at the moment both of those dates are good for me. I haven't been in the area long enough to suggest any venues.

Fio2 · 03/10/2005 09:19

whats the DLR?

sorry i am being nosey

ladymuck · 03/10/2005 09:54

DLR = Docklands Light Railway

jenweber630 · 03/10/2005 11:22

Kbear - I think you ARE the only person in the whole of the southeast that hasn't taken it. We took it yesterday actually - it's nice as there are lifts at pretty much all the stops... We did the river boat while my parents were here and it was wonderful - I highly recommend it.

Anyway, I've actually not been to any Indian restaurants in this area - only in Central London. However, there is a new-ish Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Blackheath village which looks very nice called Everest - it's next to Costa. I may check it out for lunch this week before I take ds to Monkey Music... If I do, I'll let you know.

Micku5 · 03/10/2005 19:18

Don't know of any restaurants in the area but would love to join the Xmas do. Either day is fine for me.

KBear · 04/10/2005 14:24

So far then we have

Kbear
Jenweber630
Dropinthe
Bran
MickU5
Hoges

Is Monday 19th the best date for all you? If it is I think that we should settle on that date now. Agreed?

OP posts:
Hoges · 04/10/2005 17:51

Fine by me. Monday 19th is in my diary! I'll let you in on a little secret - it'll be my first time out on my own since Jazmine was born. Woohoo, can't wait!

Dropinthecauldron · 04/10/2005 17:53

Fine by me.

jenweber630 · 04/10/2005 18:57

Fine for me too - woohoo!

Micku5 · 04/10/2005 20:44

Monday 19th it is! Have just told dh he is babysitting.

piximon · 10/10/2005 20:47

Hiya all,
I haven't met any of you yet but would you mind if I was brave and came along too?
It would do me good to get out for the night and Blackheath/Greenwich are easy enough for me to get to.
Can't make any recommendations though I'm afraid, the only place I know is on Shooters Hill side of Blackheath so way out.

blossom2 · 10/10/2005 21:04

Can i come along too?? will be back in SE london at end of october and would love to meet up...

KBear · 10/10/2005 21:18

As always, the more the merrier. Can you make it for coffee in Greenwich on Tuesday 24th October (see South East London Mums thread) and then you can meet some of us before the event.

Feel free to CAT me if you're not feeling brave Piximon! Whereabouts do you both live roughly?

OP posts:
piximon · 12/10/2005 20:16

Thanks Kbear, I'll check out the other thread.
I live in the hole that is Woolwich for my sins.

Dropinthecauldron · 13/10/2005 10:07

piximon-I'm in the hole known as Plumstead so v near!

Think coldtea wants to come too-her computer has been playing up so I'm sensing her the date-have we thought of a venue yet?

KBear · 13/10/2005 10:17

Morning all.

No venue yet. Is Blackheath ok for everyone - it's kind of central isn't? Feel free to suggest somewhere. Jen - check out an Indian restaurant in Blackheath next time you and your DH are hungry please.

Well, we've not gone to Everest yet but I did see an ad that says they have an upstairs area that can be booked for parties - though that may be a bit pricey. I was going to go today to check it out but Mitchell has been tired today... Will do it soon.
