Hi all,

I'm going to start Keto again tomorrow. Tried for the first time a few weeks ago but felt dreadful after a week so I fell off the wagon - combo of Keto flu and period I think.

Anyone else venturing into Keto and fancy some support?

Sorry Welsh 😥

Are you eating a lot of protein?

AsleepAllDay · 20/05/2019 23:58

@WelshMoth me too! Just weighed myself after a week and I've gained even though my skin felt looser, belly seemed smaller

Maybe water intake or electrolytes might be off? I haven't been managing either unlike previous times on keto

WelshMoth · 21/05/2019 07:32

Not sure. I've eaten lots of prawns, sardines, mackerel. I've watched my carb and fat intake more than anything. My skin has never looked better - I put that down to the water intake and the coconut oil.

Wondering how to up the electrolytes - some American Youtube vids depend on powders for shakes - would like to try but I don't know where to start there.

i was thinking of buying some effervescent tablets that you can get in the vitamin aisles - not really looked into that though.

Feel very despondant. I'm battling with a lot of internal demons here as well (aren't we all) and past bad habits are starting to itch at me again (eating disorder). I really need to drop some weight.

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 21/05/2019 07:50

Try tracking protein as well and try to keep under 20% of calories coming from protein. 75%+ should be coming from fat.

Although maybe that isn't good advice if you're struggling with eating disorders. It's not good to get too obsessed Flowers

AsleepAllDay · 21/05/2019 08:05

Electrolytes - take magnesium pills, extra sodium by putting salt on everything and using stock cubes, can get sugar free hydration tablets

BonAccordSpur · 21/05/2019 08:20

I found in the beginning low carb protein shakes,multi-vits&minerals&10g worth of cod oil capsules daily stopped any kind of 'keto flu'..been living it for a year now(as a veggie-keto)&eat more/have more energy&general'lust for life'&sleep better than ive had in the last20yrs Grin..mainly eat homemade tofu bolognese, veg burgers, cauli pizza base&rice..lots of egg creations, sub coconut flour in baking, cheese on most things..i find 30g of carb is fine as do a fair bit of cardio/weights too..my DC eat mainly low carb veggie too(not exclusively)but just coz they like what i make..had 10 day 'break'over xmas&new year&honestly felt like shite/no energy/heavy&drained..never again!

babycakes1010 · 22/05/2019 07:04

How is everyone doing?
Having fallen off the wagon on occasions I've got back on it and am now 26lb down (was lucky that only put 2lb back on) Disappointed to think if I hadnt of lapsed how much more i could of lost!

WelshMoth · 22/05/2019 11:40

Stalling at such an early stage (3 weeks) is incredibly depressing.
How often do you all weigh?

babycakes1010 · 22/05/2019 12:37

I found week 3 challenging but it does get better.
I weigh my self once a week on a Monday though I might and go 2 weeks to see how I get on

WelshMoth · 22/05/2019 22:33

Just tested myself using a KETO stick and it's nice and dark so hopefully I'll keep burning the fat 🤞

WelshMoth · 23/05/2019 08:10

Justilou1 I've had a quick look at Eric Berg's stuff and I can see that meal plans are costing a subscription. Did you pay? Would you recommend that I get the subscription?

Toothlessismyspiritanimal · 23/05/2019 19:42

Hi all!

Fell of the wagon big style but now I'm back!

Currently making fathead pizza and have some lovely bacon and sour cream muffins cooking.

WelshMoth · 23/05/2019 21:14

toothless (love the name) do make sweet muffins? How many carbs per muffin are they if so?!

WelshMoth · 23/05/2019 21:15

Also - will you share the pizza base recipe? Looks amazing.

PotatoScallop · 23/05/2019 22:15

Still kicking along here. I've lost 6kg in 3.5 weeks but feel like the belly area is definitely down the most. It feels slow now that the water weight is off, but I don't find this way of eating as restrictive as a regular low cal diet. So it's feeling like I'll stick to it for long enough to get some results.

I'm weighing every day or so, just to check that the water weight hasn't sprung back. I've stopped obsessively tracking carbs, just working on eating combos of what I know is keto-friendly. I think it's called lazy keto 😂

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 23/05/2019 22:25

Does anyone do cyclical keto? I know I can't sustain it forever but I'm confident I can sustain a part-time keto. I've seen some people who have weekends off and some who do three weeks of keto and one week of normal. I think I'll try both and see what works.

In any case I'm off on holiday soon and will be allowing myself to eat my own body weight in stuffed vine leaves.

Toothlessismyspiritanimal · 23/05/2019 23:09

WelshMoth - I just googled savoury Keto Muffins and came up with loads. I strongly recommend these:

https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/cheddar-jalapeno-muffins-low-carb-and-gluten-free/

Not done sweet ones yet - hate the idea of sweetener because I can always taste the synthetic parts.

The pizza base recipe I used was this one:

https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/fat-head-pizza

and I just added homemade tomato sauce, spinach wilted in butter and garlic powder, ricotta, more mozzarella and Parma ham. It was lush. Grin

WelshMoth · 24/05/2019 14:39

Thanks Toothless
Will give it a go this weekend.

WelshMoth · 24/05/2019 20:12

I've just made a really poor flatbread with coconut flour, garlic salt, an egg yolk and Greek yoghurt.

They're poorly formed because I couldn't roll them too thick but they'll do for now. Having a saag curry. Worth a try.

WelshMoth · 25/05/2019 08:15

Well, it made a decent different than just having a curry - don't like cauli rice. Plus I'm still in ketosis this morning. Hopefully some weight loss by Monday 🤞

WelshMoth · 25/05/2019 08:18

I miss a good old fashioned cup of tea though.

FixItUpChappie · 16/06/2019 05:30

I would like to join you if your accepting newcomers.

I just finished week 3 and despite no cheating, being on or below my macros - have barely lost anything while my husband has lost 10lbs. It's very discouraging even though I feel slimmer. I have SO much weight to lose ☹️

BishopBrennansArse · 18/06/2019 10:10

Any room for a newbie?
I started on Exante in January then switched to Keto a couple of months ago. I'm sticking to it like glue and between both methods have lost almost 4 stone since I started.

However I now have a weight stall - I can't work it out, I'm within my macros but my weight is going up and down within a 3lb window. It's been doing this for nearly 2 weeks.

I have just over a stone to goal, this is driving me nuts.
Why is this happening?
