Back on low carb, anyone want to join me?

I lost all my excess weight two years LCHFing. It's crept back on over the past year as ive reaching for the frackers, been, eating the kids chips etc. Carb creep and not tracking...means I'm 15lbs over where I like to be ☹️

So, I need to reboot.

I've started tracking today. My aim is to have less than thirty grams carbs a day...

I am armed with double cream, babybel and dark chocolate.

Anyone want to join me?

I’m possibly (probably) being a little crazy here, but does anyone else sometimes feel that they are deluded that they are losing weight?

The scales say I am 16lb down and some of my clothes are much looser. However, some of my clothes don’t feel looser at all and nobody is commenting on my weight loss, in fact when someone asked me how much I’d lost I could tell they didn’t quite believe me.

It’s not coming off as quickly as I’d like and I have a holiday and wedding in a few weeks that I thought I’d have dropped a size for, but I’m still not there.

Lonesurvivor · 11/05/2018 11:30

Well done user good loss, nice to break out of the plateau.

banging how much have you to lose if you don't mind me asking?
I remember at a slimming club a leader saying that many of us who are over weight are probably wearing clothes that are too small and in essence will probably need to drop two dress sizes before needing to buy new clothes. I know this is true for me. I've lost 23 pounds now and many of my clothes are only starting to get loose now.
I've another four (at least really) to go and no-one has really noticed but I'm glad of that because I don't want that attention, I've been here so many times, had so many conversations, I really don't want to do that anymore. I doubt people would believe I've 23 pounds off, when you've a lot of weight on and it's coming off all over it's not noticeable.

How long did it take you to lose 16? That's a great loss, keep with it one day you'll reach a stage where every pound you lose will make a difference.

BangingOn · 11/05/2018 13:28

That’s a really good point Lone, I hadn’t thought of it that way. I need to lose at least another 3 stone and it’s taken me 10 weeks so far.

I really don’t want the attention either, I know it’s illogical but I’ve often worried that by losing weight I am just highlighting how big I was, which I realise doesn’t make sense.

You’ve made me feel much better, thank you Flowers

user1471530109 · 11/05/2018 16:09

They say 10% of your starting weight is what it takes to lose a dress size. But I agree my clothes were probably too tight to start with. Plus when I was a good 20lbs lighter I was still in same clothes mostly!

I also think sometimes we read about amazing losses on threads like this and we feel disappointed with our own. Which is daft as it's still a loss that wouldn't have happened if we hadn't out in the effort. I'm sure you'll be happy at the wedding having lost the 16lbs.

BangingOn · 11/05/2018 17:07

10% makes a lot more sense, I keep hearing 1 stone per size and feeling bad.

What I also need to remember is the weight I haven’t gained, which I would have done with the way I was eating.

50andgoingstrong · 11/05/2018 17:08

Day 43 - ✅ - 36g carbs (14g fibre)

50andgoingstrong · 11/05/2018 17:12

Well done user👍

I always tell myself I'm winning because I'm not gaining any weight! I also focus on all the food I'm not eating. The biscuit I said no thanks to etc...

I'm another 1lb down. That's 9lbs gone 🙂 Forever!

I haven't read the whole thread but after years of weight watchers and slimming world, I've just discovered lchf.
It seems so wrong! I can't get my head round it, so will be watching this and getting ideas from you guys with experience, 2 1/2 stone to lose! Using fitbit and my fitness pal, can I ask do you all count calories as well as lchf?

Lonesurvivor · 11/05/2018 18:26

revelsandrose I found/find the high fat thing so hard to get my head around but inspired by the boot camp posters I've added in more this time and it's made a huge difference. I'm satisfied, zero cravings and not food obsessed.

I use myfitnesspal to count carbs, fat and protein so calories are also recorded but I do my best to ignore them, another habit that's hard to break.

revelsandrose · 11/05/2018 18:31

I've just rejigged my fitness pal based on advice from one of the above posts, lonesurvivor it really goes against the grain of everything I've ever been told but I'm going to give it my best shot.
I ate cheese and olives and sausages today and I'm loving it!

Lonesurvivor · 11/05/2018 19:05

I know revels but after a couple of decades of losing and gaining weight I figure everything else definitely hasn't worked so it's worth a try.

I did have my weight under control for a number of years following low fat diets like weight watchers and Rosemary Connolly and lots of exercise. But woke up one day in agony and was later diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and severely low in iron. I now completely and utterly blame low fat high sugar food for the low iron which I think triggered the RA. I'm actually wondering if I actually have inflammation from high sugar food rather than RA.

50andgoingstrong · 12/05/2018 11:57

Lone I used weightwatchers points system post natally. I found it worked but was difficult to sustain.

I feel this woe offers a better way in that you get to eat real food. Everything feels better too, energy levels, hunger levels, skin, hair.

It does take some time to get your head around. I was really worried as I have family history of heart disease but my cholesterol levels are fine.

We have been sold a lie. I regret all the years I endured low fat, fake sweeter diet good. I eat real food now and it's so much better for me.

I am back from holiday and full of carbs Angryit was just so hard to not eat them as the food was so delicious!

I'm back on it tomorrow and have just joined bootcamp but will be on here too!

50* yes my periods are much lighter! I wondered what that was down to!
*
banging* you're doing so well! I think it coming off slowly is better than fast and I find it takes a good 20lbs to need to go down a size.

50andgoingstrong · 13/05/2018 17:47

Day 44 ✅ and 9lbs down. Total carbs 36g (13g fibre)

Had salmon fillet, scrambled egg, avocado this morning for breakfast.
Only needed celery and a cheese slice at lunch!

Welcome back Anna sounds like you enjoyed the holiday. Yes finally,
Boot camp starts tomorrow!

I've never done it. Just eased myself in last time.
I've signed up and will give it a go, but not sure how I will cope with no chocolate so all for two weeks!!

Lonesurvivor · 14/05/2018 08:56

Well done with the loss 50. Good luck with bootcamp, I'm starting too as a first timer.
Are you already in ketosis, Maybe you don't need to do the two week and can go straight to the lighter version might be worth asking?
I'm in ketosis but I'll follow the rules for the two weeks anyway because I'm a geek:)

50andgoingstrong · 14/05/2018 18:39

Day 45✅ 34g carbs (13g fibre)

I thought I'd joined boot camp but can't see my name on the list.

How's it done today Lone?

How is everyone else doing?

Actually with bootcamp...I fell at the first hurdle and had a bit of 85%choclate with my tea today ...

I'm definately following the thread as it has lots of ideas and encouragement on it. BIWI is a font of low carb knowledge.

I'm not sure if I'm ketosis or not but I've been losing weight and running fasted with no adverse effects.

OP posts:
AnnaT45 · 14/05/2018 20:28

50 I feel the same type bootcamp is very strict and I'm not sure I can do that! I've had 40g today as was really hungry so had some cheese. Hoping I'll be less hungry tomorrow and there after.

The thread also moves so fast I can't keep up so I think I'll hang here still and keep popping in there to see the ideas!

BangingOn · 14/05/2018 20:32

How does the Bootcamp thread work?

I am struggling with breakfasts at the moment, I’m hungry but don’t fancy anything. I have, however, invented a brilliant new dessert/sweet snack involving sugar free jelly made with soya milk and cream instead of water, then adding extra gelatine so it sets like little strawberry and cream jelly sweets.

Lonesurvivor · 14/05/2018 21:39

You can still add your name to the spreadsheet 50. I'd say a few names end up getting temporarily dropped with all the copying and pasting.
The thread is really busy, loads of great info. For anyone looking to join or wondering how it works BIWI has all the info added into the first post and there's further info on the spreadsheet link.

AnnaT45 · 15/05/2018 08:42

I think I may do the next bootcamp as this week is a bit bad timing for me as I'm jet lagged and have loads of meetings in London so all over the shop. Also hosting a party on sat for the royal wedding! Not excuses just being realistic. I may start it next week though as got less going on!

But I'm still following it and reading the thread just going to find it hard to be as strict this time!

Just had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Got a work lunch today but it should be easy to stay on track!

50andgoingstrong · 15/05/2018 10:14

You can have a late breakfast or something small if you're hungry banging. I love your dessert invention! Putting sugar free jelly on my list.

Yesterday I had spoonful of Greek yoghurt and a strawberry chopped up and mixed in with a bit of double cream. It was yum.

This morning was two fried eggs in butter, asparagus, spinach and chopped chicken with mayo for breakfast.
Delicious!

annaT sounds like a busy time for you. I would count carbs and just try to stay as low as possible.

Im reading bootcamp thread and following the rules as best I can, going to cut down the chocolate but I can't give it up completely! I would be bereft without it to look forward to!

Day 46✅ 35g carbs (16g fibre)

Tried aubergine pizzas today. V good 🍕

OP posts:
AnnaT45 · 15/05/2018 17:24

Oh sounds great 50. How did you make it?

I've been good... had chicken and creamed spinach and lunch. I've got Keto flu though, headache and feel sick and really bloated!

BangingOn · 15/05/2018 19:30

Oooh aubergine pizzas. Sounds yum!

I am away on an overseas conference next week with very little control over food options. The breakfast and lunch buffets should be ok but dinner will be set menus and possibly not much I can eat. I’m going to stuff my suitcase with Atkins and Carb Killa bars. They aren’t ideal and those types of bars usually make me stall, but I figure a stall is better than a gain (especially as I’m on holiday and at an overseas wedding the week after and need to fit into my dress!). Any tips of what else I could take in a suitcase?

50andgoingstrong · 15/05/2018 22:38

anna Just sliced them then a bit of salt olive oil and tomato purée and baked them. Flip over brush with egg and add cheese and ham.

Easy and one aubergine makes two meals 🙂

For keto flu I take sugar free hydration tabs from decathlon. Salt on everything and lots of water.

banging I would pack almonds, babybels and dark choc.
