I lost all my excess weight two years LCHFing. It's crept back on over the past year as ive reaching for the frackers, been, eating the kids chips etc. Carb creep and not tracking...means I'm 15lbs over where I like to be ☹️

So, I need to reboot.

I've started tracking today. My aim is to have less than thirty grams carbs a day...

I am armed with double cream, babybel and dark chocolate.

Anyone want to join me?

Hi all!

I’ve fallen by the wayside a bit over the weekend... and Monday and Tuesday Blush.

Anywho, posting menu plan here for a bit of accountability!

Well done op and others fur sticking to it. You all are putting me to shame! I’m inspired to be a bit more committed.

B: Greek yoghurt and some lowish carb fruit
L: chicken, avocado and egg salad
D: sausage and ‘mash’ (cauliflower purée)

Anyone know how many carbs in an after 8? I'm so tempted....

50 I’ve been having mint chocolate cravings recently too, I’ve held them at bay with a low carb chocolate mint milkshake (unsweetened soya milk, cream, ice, Splenda, unsweetened cocoa powder and peppermint essence). Could you improvise something like that instead?

BangingOn · 02/05/2018 20:22

Shiraz I am doing well thanks, although I need to start taking my fibre supplements again! A little bit of almond flour helps on that front too, so I might make some Keto cookie dough balls again as they were particularly nice.

Today:
Breakfast- bacon, mushroom and eggs
Lunch- wasn’t very hungry so just had some cheese
Dinner- sea bass with spinach and rocket salad

50andgoingstrong · 02/05/2018 21:35

Sweet lord there are 6g carbs in an After eight😱
Thanks for the alternative recipe.
Had a mint tea instead....

I still haven't dropped anymore weight.
So for the past two weeks (now closer to 3) I have not budged at all.
I'm in ketosis. And I'm no way going above protein levels etc.

I feel like crap. My mouth is full of ulcers, I have an awful case of thrush (and I haven't had this for donkeys years) and achy.
I don't think they are connected as I was never a carb eater anyway (diabetic).

I'm not stopping as my blood sugar control is v good. But I seriously am very overweight (BMI 33).

Ant tips? Or has anyone had this before? Thanks.

BangingOn · 03/05/2018 07:11

user I have had this several times, both recently and when I lost a lot of weight low carbing 8 years ago. My weight loss is never linear, I can be in ketosis and not lose for weeks, then suddenly my clothes will feel much looser even if the scales don’t move straight away.

DanceDisaster · 03/05/2018 11:19

Morning!

@user

When I low carbed in the past, I did go through periods of not losing weight for a few weeks, but if I persevered and drank LOTS of water, it suddenly started to shift again. I think it’s natural to go through plateaus.

Great news about your blood sugars though. There seem to be lots of health benefits other than just the weight loss.

I haven’t ever had the ulcers or thrush though... I would have thought low carb was good for thrush as I’m sure I was told to reduce carbs when I had it a lot during my pregnancy with dc1. I’m not an expert at all though!

B: Weird breakfast today, of a leftover cold sausage and some tuna mayo, which I was making my dd’s sandwiches with
L: I’m grazing a bit at the moment on cheese and salami... not terribly healthy, but low carb. Planning a later lunch of salad with avocado and maybe some halloumi or maybe a creamy veg soup with leftover cauliflower, broccoli and celery
D: pork patties with peppercorn sauce, mushrooms and broccoli

50andgoingstrong · 03/05/2018 17:31

Day 35 ✅ 29g

Make use you're eating enough green leafy veg. You could also take multivitamins.

Weight loss on this woe is fits and starts I find.. so a few pounds off, nothing for a couple of weeks, a lb then a big loss again...

34g. Just ate a piece of chocolate!

Thank you for replying.

I think I eat a pretty healthy diet. I always have. But I think a mix of insulin and lots of large portions Blush have been my downfall. If I compare myself to work colleagues and friends, I should be a size 6! All my family are tiny too. So not sure it's bad genetics as such. I even tried Metformin once (type 2 diabetes drug as it can help with weight loss as a side effect). Even that didn't work!

Will keep on trying Wine

clare8allthepies · 03/05/2018 23:44

Doing ok, still keeping the carbs low but finding things to eat difficult. I have to be careful with the amount of veg like broccoli or spinach that I have or it really sets off my IBS, plus I’ve totally sickened myself of eggs.

In desperation I made cauliflower mash last night thinking that if I put enough butter, salt and pepper in it would taste less of cauliflower. Unsurprisingly that wasn’t the case! 😂

Today was tricky as I’ve received so many emails from various supermarkets advertising their bank holiday offers (mainly wine) I was so tempted to buy some but my partner talked me out of it. Still can’t decide if I’m pleased or grumpy about it.

user1471530109 · 04/05/2018 07:42

Claire add cream cheese to the cauliflower mash! My eh couldn't tell the difference with enough cream cheese in it.

A lb off! Shock it's taken almost three weeks to lose that though. Fingers crossed the plateau is over.

BangingOn · 04/05/2018 10:54

Garlic butter is good for cauliflower mash, or I buy ready made cauliflower rice and stir fry it with sesame oil or ghee.

Well done user hope that’s your plateau over. I think mine might be too, another 2lb off and I definitely noticed the difference in the mirror this morning.

user1471530109 · 07/05/2018 13:13

Fallen off the wagon! Worst hangover in years. I needed bread (it was still warm from oven).

Got to make sure it was a one off. Anyone else had a blip?

clare8allthepies · 07/05/2018 18:09

Me! (Sheepishly sidles in) we had my family over for a barbecue party yesterday as it’s my eldest’s birthday tomorrow. I had intended to have a couple of cheeseburgers without buns but I ended up having them with buns, and some cheese and pineapples, and a little piece of birthday cake!

At least it soaked up the wine so I wasn’t dying this morning, from past experience I can’t drink much when low carbing without getting a shocking hangover. Back on the wagon today though, been managed to resist everything at the kids party we were at this afternoon.

50andgoingstrong · 07/05/2018 18:45

I was staying with friends over the weekend and pretty much had to eat what I was given. 3 full days, tried to limit carbs I ate but it was impossible so who knows? I wasn't tracking....there were cakes, crisps and croissants involved.,.,.,

So today I'm back on It!

Day 39 ✅ 22 g carbs.

OP posts:
BangingOn · 07/05/2018 19:19

I wondered why everyone was so quiet Grin. Bank Holidays are so hard, lots of temptation and being a guest at someone’s house makes it impossible to stay on track.

I’m another 2lbs off and very chuffed with my low carb peppermint Frappuccino invention today. I may have had 3.

user1471530109 · 07/05/2018 19:26

Oooo, share please!

I feel less guilty knowing it's not just me. The carbs today meant my blood sugar went nearly 3x higher than normal-so I'm hoping I have learnt my lesson.

I do need to be a bit more strict. The weight has still stuck (crept up half pound back to the plateau).

Would you mind all giving me an idea of what you are eating and rough portion sizes? I'm wondering if I'm just over eating! I don't think so though...

I'm impressed with 22g of carbs though! You can't be having much dairy?

BangingOn · 07/05/2018 19:57

I think my portion sizes are quite large, but as I’m replacing things like rice and pasta with cauliflower rice or spiralized courgette it’s not as calorific as it might be.

Today I had a cheese and mushrooms omelette for breakfast, lunch was limit choice at a farm cafe place so went with a tuna salad, then dinner will be griddled chilli and lime lamb steaks, cauliflower rice and asparagus.

The Frappuccino was so easy- unsweetened soya milk, a splash of cream, a few drops of peppermint extract, Splenda and a pinch of xanthun gum then blend with ice. You could add unsweetened cocoa powder too, or vanilla.

BangingOn · 07/05/2018 20:25

I’ve also been reading about how you should increase your fat intact and reduce your protein if you’re stalling. Apparently too much protein can hinder weight loss and you should be eating plenty of fat.

50andgoingstrong · 07/05/2018 20:48

User double cream, babybel. So not dairy free.
It's net carbs so I do deduct fibre.
