Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

hejsvejs · 16/03/2016 14:28

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Fab thanks I will have a look at that.

Since doing this most nights I don't have veg. If I do it's mushrooms or salad. That could perhaps be where I was relying on the fibre supliments.

BIWI · 03/07/2016 21:01
Shock

No wonder you're constipated!

You must eat veg/salad - not just for the constipation, but because of the nutrients in those.

Low carbing isn't about cutting out all carbs. It's about getting good carbs from vegetables and salad.

stripeyzebra321 · 04/07/2016 09:40

BIWI point taken, I've got rather complacent with this the last couple of weeks. I saw your post just before I ordered my online shop for today so have ordered more veg than normal.

My original goal is approaching fast (next Wednesday) I do find by having goals written in my calendar it does motivate me more. I am 6.4lbs away so that's not now going to happen. If I didn't get it by then I was hoping by the end of the month but even that seems unlikely.

I don't have a full length mirror so I have been taking progress photos the best I could, I've just noticed my phone has a count down timer so I could of done full body shots all along. Damn it.

I plan on taking some pics today and am going to look very closely at them and am trying to make piece with the fact the image I have in my head will probably never happen. I fear I will have to loose atleast another stone maybe more. Even if it was possible I don't think I could maintain that weight.

How has everyone's weekends been?

KP did you make the mash potato buns? Curious to how that turned out. I hope your class has a taster evening soon as that's always fab for trying new things.
I bought some cottage cheese and I'm going to make a SW no crust quiche for tea this eve.
Cottage cheese with 2-3 eggs mixed in. Chives, mushrooms, bacon and a sprinkling of cheese. With a salad Yum.

KP86 · 04/07/2016 21:50

The SW scales were nice to me... 3.2kg down this week! Woo hoo!

I was 95.0kg. My scales at home said around 96, but I'll take it, haha!

Should've won slimmer of the week (I was really looking forward to the box of goodies, too) but of course the T&C say you have to have lost or maintained the week before so I wasn't eligible. Bah, Humbug!

This shall be a good week as well. For us all!

Onwards and downwards (I like that, stealing for myself).

stripeyzebra321 · 05/07/2016 07:57

Bloody hell KP that's over 7lbs. I have to convert it as I don't use kg.

Well done that's AMAZING!

You will be willing all the awards very soon.

KP86 · 05/07/2016 08:38

I got my half a stone award on my first week. Hopefully I can keep it all off this week.

stripeyzebra321 · 05/07/2016 09:11

I do personally find that a issue. When I loose any amount it's like it's got to stabilise before it goes off again.

Your on a roll now, have you set yourself some mini targets for little treats?

I'm waiting for tomorrow's weigh in to see if I can get my make up on my list.

KP86 · 05/07/2016 09:18

Hoping to be 90kg by the end of the month.

My 10% target is about 88kg. That would be awesome before a 2 week road trip we have planned in August.

If I was 85kg by my birthday in mid-Sept I would be beyond thrilled. That's about 1kg/week between now and then.

stripeyzebra321 · 05/07/2016 09:50

Over a month ms average your pretty close to that after 1 week. That's amazing.

How are you finding it compared to LC?

2 people I know on it ATM are fed up despite over the month having a really great loss. But I think after being so restricted on LC I would give my left arm to be on SW.

KP86 · 05/07/2016 11:23

That's the thing, I probably will get sick of it, like all diets, but after LC it is easy and dream-like right now!

Watching my fat intake (ironic, I know) is the hardest bit. I can't whip up some cream for berries or ganache for dessert, or have lots of cheese on top of bolognaise etc. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

The weight I lost this week really is the weight I gained after I stopped LC so I am waiting to see if I'll go down further which would mean lightest in a while. Fingers crossed!

stripeyzebra321 · 06/07/2016 08:20

My week 11 weigh in.

I've not lost anything since 22nd June as I've been stuck on my sticky weight but to my surprise 3.4lbs down this week. Apart from week 1 that's my best loss yet.

So in total it's just over 2 stone. Happy with that, 5.4lbs away from target and that is not going to happen by next week but il give it a go.

Reintroducing carbs next week and I'm terrified it's all going to go back on but as I'm still going to have some lbs left I'm just going to have to be good. Easier said then done but let's give it a whirl.

KP86 · 06/07/2016 08:54

Another great loss, well done :)

5.4lb is less than 3kg. You're sooo close! Congratulations!

SheriffCallie · 07/07/2016 23:29

I'm still here, plodding on. Had some non dark choc on Monday evening and def felt hungrier all day Tuesday. I've noticed this on the few occasions that I've cheated and it makes me realise the effect hat sugar and subsequent insulin has been having on my appetite.
Haven't weighed myself this week but had lost 3lb last Friday after a long stall and my old jeans are all fitting so happy enough. Am off on holiday next week and then relatives are staying so I imagine lots of wine will be consumed.

KP86 · 08/07/2016 08:21

Three pounds, woot! Well done!

I wonder how much we have lost as a group?

I agree that when I was eating LC if I had an off day the next morning I was always starving and it took a couple of days for my appetite to resettle. Makes you think a bit...

Even on SW I wake up hungry most days, but I think I must still be consuming fewer calories overall because I'm definitely losing. About 1kg so far this week I think. The slimmer of the week basket will be mine! ;)

stripeyzebra321 · 08/07/2016 09:26

Callie 3lbs is loads well done!

KP a kg this week is amazing.

I have a really swollen tummy today had it yesterday eve too, done nothing different I'm wondering if it's TOM even tho I have a coil so I don't have TOM but wondering if it could be water retention? Whatever it is I've put on 2lbs overnight.

stripedjumper · 10/07/2016 16:45

It's gone quiet!

How's everyone's weekend going?

I've not weighed myself last couple of days as I'm saving it until weds. My tummy went down by this morning it must of been a bit of water retention.

H had a 10k event today so me and 8year old DD entered the mile run due to her age that was the furthest she could do. My minute miles are normally 14-15 mins. Well we ran out hearts out and did it in 8:15.

Now I'm coming to the end of the LC journey I'm going to try and focus on running again. I did a 4K earlier in the year and have not been able to do very much on this as haven't had the energy or stamina but two stone lighter should make a huge difference hopefully.

Hope everyone's had a great weekend!

KP86 · 10/07/2016 17:55

Hi there :) Didn't see your previous post or I would have replied.

That's a nice fast run for you, good work! I did a 10km fun run 2 days before I found out I was pregnant in 71 minutes. And I didn't think I was that fit at the time. I don't think I could run half a km at the moment, let alone 10.

My SW weigh in is tomorrow night. I don't think I've been eating enough this week, but I certainly haven't been going hungry either. I'm disappointed that the consultant doesn't have, or make, time to spend with the people who are in their first month to ask them how the week was, go through the food diaries. We had to leave them when weighing in, but no idea where they went after that or if they are looked at by anyone. The meetings are a bit long and boring, too!

Looking forward to your Wednesday results. Bring on another loss!

stripeyzebra321 · 10/07/2016 18:43

That is the main downfall with SW I found. Some like me, happy to plod along, some just couldn't get certain aspects.
I do think newbies need more than the initial 10min chat.

One lady in our class had very minor if any losses at all. Was there a couple a months. Gave in food dairys ect, wasn't until one class she listed out her food for the day, special K and donner kebabs 3 times a week. She miscalculated the syns and thought the pita was only 5. Wrong, as there huge. She thought donner meat was free. Never got picked up in the diarys. It should of been corrected in week 1.

In our class we used to play silly games to do with syns in crisps or whatever.

I felt it was like here's the book, off you go into the big bad world.

Hope you get a great result tomorrow.

We've been on the go all day so I've only had a protein shake and a Atkins bar couldn't be bothered to cook so just had a shish kebab and salad. No pita.
It's very hard to low carb when going out and about.

KP86 · 11/07/2016 20:58

Weigh in day, 700g (about 1.5lb) off. Not great but better than nothing!

My goal of 90kg by the end of the month is still achievable, it means about 1.5kg (3lb) per week.

I think I haven't been eating enough this week. Most days I haven't had both my HexA and B, or even a whole one of those (eg. 120ml 2% milk when I can have 250ml) and definitely hardly any syns.

Lesson learned. Will up my vegies and try to eat more regularly this week.

Hope everyone is well.

stripeyzebra321 · 11/07/2016 22:02

That's a great loss KP, you had a fab loss last week!

You must have your As&Bs.

Well even tho I'm still in ketosis until weds I started 5:2 diet today. I think I've kind of been doing that sometimes anyway by dropping cals occasionally.

I was at a picnic at the school Friday and a mum I never met before commented on my weight loss she must recognise me from my friend who is her friend anyway. We spoke about diets and she said she had done 5:2 in the past and done well by using lioptrim food packets but they were too expensive so she found another brand that were cheaper and lower cals and carbs. 4 packets a day and -50 cals and that should take your cal intake down to 500. I naturally burn 80 from going to school and back.

She did a swap for some meal sachets for some 8cal noodles so I've been on the food replacement sachets. Quite filling and tasty actually. I had a chicken curry noodle sachet for tea and added half a pack of 8cal noodles and it was lovely.

So Monday's and Thursday's will be fast days for me. I am aiming to up the carbs a bit on weds but I would like to have the odd treat so if this is a way of clawing it back / loosing a bit then I will be happy.

I weighed this morning as I wanted too see how much I can get off tomorrow. Well, I knew at the end of last week I put on as this LC has given me my first period in nearly 3 years. That weight is off and since last weds my total loss is 0.2lbs. So slowing down dramatically now.

I will see what tomorrow brings as I'm hoping for a good loss with this 5:2 500 cal fasting.

KP86 · 11/07/2016 22:28

I've never heard of those sachets before, hopefully they can help you get the scales moving in the right direction.

Mixing it up every so often seems to be the trick.

stripeyzebra321 · 12/07/2016 07:41

Well that was quite interesting. I weighed yesterday to see how good that works. And - 1 lb.

That's pretty good. So mixing it up seems to work. I did go over 500 cals according to MFP with milk and that chunk of cheese I forgot about.

How's everyone else doing?

stripeyzebra32 · 13/07/2016 10:11

well my 12 weeks on This diet is finally up.

Here is my before and after results:

Start weight: 11stone 12.8
BMI: 29.5

Weight now: 9 stone 9.8
BMI: 24.1
My target weight is 9stone 7.

Total loss 2 stone 3lbs.
6 inches off tummy & hips.

KP86 · 13/07/2016 17:33

That's fantastic. You've gone from just short of obese to a healthy BMI. Well done.

Six inches is around three dress sizes!

KP86 · 18/07/2016 19:52

This thread has gone very quiet. Hope you're all doing well nonetheless.

Weigh in day for me, officially 1.8kg (4lb) off, new weight 92.5 which is the best I've been this year since I was in the early weeks of being pregnant. Woot! But I was sick this week and so had 24 hours where I hardly ate anything and therefore expected a decent loss. I will be happy to maintain that loss for this week (of course, not really happy, but anything is better than a gain!!)

1.5lb to go until I reach my first stone award. It's a little scary how addictive these awards can be!

Still don't really like the meetings very much, I find my consultant to be a little dismissive at times and she really can gloss over you if you've done well. I think it would be helpful to the group to hear about one positive thing from each person's week, especially if they've lost. eg. favourite free/low-syn meal, exercise completed etc.

I was also (indirectly, it was 'to whomever put these in...') told off for putting Alpen Light bars in the slimmer of the week box, but since they are a HexB option, I thought it would be OK! Seeing as though it was never explained to us, I'm a little miffed.

But, overall the plan is working really well. My first mini target 90kg by the end of this month so that's definitely doable, 2.5kg in two more weeks. That would be 8.2kg (maybe 17lb?) in a month and should get me that damn slimmer of the month award once and for all!
