Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Sally, I'm here too waves. I had a night off on Friday (hotdog and copious alcohol), barely ate on sat as I was so hungover, and back to LC today with some dark choc this evening (which triggered the runs, lovely).

Weighed myself and I've stayed the same so could have been worse.
Back on track this week, I hope.
KP, weigh again in the morning and see if any change. If not, just focus on getting back to it. The odd break is ok if we can draw a line under it :)

stripeyzebra321 · 20/06/2016 08:04

KP weigh again this morning, it will come back off really fast!

I've been so ill overnight. As a treat every 2-3 weeks we have a kebab. Chicken shish they don't marinade it so it's basically chicken breast and salad but as I don't have to cook it it's amazing. I don't have the pita.
I'm pretty certain now I didn't get shish I think I had donner as my husband so say had the same and he had huge chunks and mine was tiny bits and it didn't taste like what I normally have.
There's a reason I never have donner as it doesn't agree with me. I've been in agony all night.

Was expecting a gain this morning but I've stayed the same!

We can do this people, back on track today. New week lets see what we can do!!

seasidesally · 20/06/2016 09:52

sorry SheriffCalliey yeahhhhhh another drinking buddy, ditto was eating dark choc the weekend to,didnt have the effect yours had though, lol

glad the team are all checking in

well done for those that have not gained,i weigh alot at home and they are digital but go up and down all the time, but i suppose it gives me an idea,i weigh myself propally at Boots the chemist and use their reading as what i actually am,

havent weighed their for about 10 so may do this week

seasidesally · 20/06/2016 09:57

stripeyoh no illness is the worst, bet its put you of kebab for awhile

take it easy today

stripeyzebra321 · 20/06/2016 10:31

Yep don't think I will be having that again anytime soon. It's so hard to have a takeaway treat on this but a shish kebab with salad was a good option and a treat plus DH loves them.

I'm out for tea tonight 1st time in 6weeks so will study the menu before I go, mixed grill might be ok.

YogaDrone · 20/06/2016 11:58

Hi All,

I hope you feel better soon Stripey Flowers

Sally, "Sheriff and KP* - alcohol fuelled weekends all round Grin Mine was too really. I fell off the wagon but not too badly. Party Saturday night with a hog roast so I just avoided the rolls and pasta salad although I did have a small helping of potato salad to soak up the vast amount of wine I drank!

Sunday we had a family barbeque for my birthday - felt a little bleary after the night before but again managed to avoid the most obvious carbs. I tried making meringue with sweetener and it was a bit of a disaster so bought meringue (oh the shame) Sunday morning for the eton mess I made. No alcohol all day though. We've got lots of barbeque leftovers in the house so supper is sorted with minimum effort at least!

I weighed myself Friday AM and I'd lost 1.3kg so I suppose that's something after a fortnight of very little. I may weigh myself this evening if I'm feeling brave although I suspect I've put it back on!

Have a good day. Hope you feel better soon stripey

p.s. my sugar free gummy bears turned up this morning

seasidesally · 20/06/2016 13:44

well done on the loss yoga thats a good amount

what went wrong with the meringues im interested as fancy Eaton mess using sweetner

do the gummy bears have many carbs, where did you get them ?

back on the vodka tonight as footy is on and im out,not gonna drink like i did last time but had such a good time, hope its as good tonight

KP86 · 20/06/2016 19:37

Didn't weigh this morning and another non diet day. I've lost interest :(

But I've decided from Thursday I'm going to be starting SW. There's a group quite close to me that meets on Wednesday nights, hence the Thursday start. It will be easier for DH to follow the main principles as well so hopefully he will also lose weight.

seasidesally · 20/06/2016 23:28

oh no kp we cant lose you to the dark side

why the change ???

stripeyzebra321 · 21/06/2016 07:49

I get where your coming from KP.

6 years ago I started slimming world and it changed my life as cliché as that sounds. I was a size 22 and 14 stone when I went to my first class I was 24 years old at the time and as I'm short I felt awful in myself cried on my way home as I had put on a lot more than I thought. 9 months later I was weighing in at 10 stone and was a size 8-10. I then went on LC to get the last half stone off.

It's a very sociable diet and there is no restrictions everything in moderation you just pull it back over the week if you have treats.

Two of my friends have just restated SW and lost 7lbs in two weeks.

I spoke to my friend honestly about this diet last night as she was wondering how I was doing and honestly, mentally I'm doing great but physically it's starting to take its toll now I'm lethargic all the time, I've been on for weeks despite being on the coil and not having one in 2 years. My brain is fried and the worst is if I eat a bigger meal then normal I get cheat pains.

I actually pulled my old SW book out last week and had a flick through and once I'm at my target I think I will be following it again but the red plan and see if I can actually maintain the loss.

Good luck with it, it's a lot easier to stick too.

KP86 · 21/06/2016 08:24

Sally, I've lost motivation to avoid all the carb foods at the moment. It's been four months and I need a change.

I know that little cheats creeping in (or just not tracking and so accidentally going over) are probably why my loss stalled and I want to kick start it again.

I did like LC, and once I was in the swing of it found it enjoyable and fairly easy, but I want to be more flexible. Able to eat out occasionally if we choose, or not ruin myself for two days because I've had a few strawberries or an apple. I always said I would do it for three months and then see where I was at, so really I've passed that goal already :)

I won't disappear, I've really enjoyed this thread and will keep checking in to see how everyone is doing.

And perhaps in a few months I'll go back to LC for a while and visa versa.

Stripeyzebra, thanks for your post. It helps me to feel like I'm doing the right thing. I have three months until my 30th birthday (with a two week holiday in August in between) and I'm hoping SW will help me get close to goal, which is now probably closer to 3st, as well as give me ways of surviving our trip without regaining 5+kg while away.

seasidesally · 21/06/2016 08:43

kp yeah thats fair enough ive found lc a very unforgiving diet if you go of track

let us know how things go

stripeyzebra321 · 21/06/2016 09:10

KP I think personally you've made the right desision. You've not come off and given up your starting a new chapter and that's a huge achievement in itself.

The beauty of SW is you can go out and enjoy yourself and you can go for meals and whatever you fancy for tea pop it into the website and they will suggest a home made healthier alternative. My DH takes food to work and he takes things like burger and chips and it's sin free even he lost a bit and he's as skinny as a rake.

Whilst I was on it I went away for 2 weeks all inc I avoided bread when away and didn't over pig on desert, had all my drinks with diet mixers. Had a fab holiday and didn't gain.
Actually in the whole 9 months (I then reset my target and went on to do a full year on plan) I never gained weight. I didn't always loose but I never put on. 1 bad day doesn't equal a bad week you just pull it back.

I love LC as for me it's a quick way of getting my weight down but as a long term diet constantly in ketosis I know I couldn't do it. 3months and 1 week is my aim but I'm petrified of the future and how I can maintain.

YogaDrone · 21/06/2016 18:05

Best of luck with SW KP. I can understand your desire for a change of diet. Thank you for your support and good ideas. I'm glad you'll continue to check in Smile

I think summer is a good time for me to LC as I can have salads and barbeques but I'm not sure I'll be able to sustain it through autumn/winter (if I last that long!)

The gummy bears are sugar free diabetic sweets, so no carbs which I got on amazon sweeties

I didn't notice much difference from "normal" gummy bears and they haven't given me the upset stomach and cramping that some of the reviews warn of.

Hmmm... the meringues. They tasted fine. I used 3 egg whites and 2 tablespoons of sweetener. The problem was that the sweetener is much lighter than caster sugar and so the meringues were very fine and crumbly and didn't have much texture. They also only made about half the volume they would have done with sugar. So they need something to make them more robust and give some solidity. If you have more success please let me know what recipe you used!

I haven't weighed myself, too scared, but I don't feel any lighter and my clothes don't feel much looser. Two weeks to first wedding to lose a bit more hopefully.

KP86 · 21/06/2016 18:40

Yoga, what about some vinegar or cream of tartar in your meringues? They seem to be in a lot of pavlova/meringue recipes I see.

Also, you can get baking sweetener which is 1:1 for sugar in recipes where the volume is important.

stripeyzebra321 · 21/06/2016 19:05

Yoga is that the sweets on Amazon that have reviews like "give these to your worst enemy" the lazurite wind sweets?

seasidesally · 21/06/2016 22:52

good day today food wise but i dont think ive had enough fat and calories

was pretty well behaved last nigh so didnt have a hangover, mind you the game was rubbish

stripeyzebra321 · 22/06/2016 09:08

Official 9th weigh in and I've lost 1.8pounds. So in total 1stone 8lbs.

It's starting to slow down now but I'm so close to being off the overweight category as my bmi is now 25.1 from 29. Getting impatient now!!!

KP86 · 22/06/2016 10:23

so close stripeyzebra. Next week :)

stripeyzebra321 · 22/06/2016 11:12

I hope so KP.

Let us know how you get on at your new class this week.

Btw, I don't know what you weigh so I hope you don't think I'm speaking out of turn, but I thought I should mention (depending on where you live it could save you a bit of money) if your bmi is over a certain amount you can sometimes get SW vouchers on the nhs. I don't know what the bmi limit is but I've got 3 lots of 12 week vouchers in the past.

Either a nurse at your docs or sometimes the pharmacy can prescribe them.

It may be worth a quick google check to see if it's possible for you as 12 weeks is a saving of about £65. Plus years ago when I was doing it if you lost a certain % within the 12 weeks they can also prescribe a 2nd lot even if your bmi goes under there limit.

KP86 · 22/06/2016 11:17

My BMI is about 33 at the moment. I have an appointment with the GP nurse next Monday so I'll ask then. Thanks for the tip!

stripeyzebra321 · 22/06/2016 12:22

Just spoke to my mum who's just started and she was referred by a pharmacy for the vouchers.

To qualify you have to be over 28 bmi and have not been to a slimming club in the last 6 months.

If I were you I'd call your surgery before you start attending the class and see if it's something they offer as if you go off your own back and start the class they won't give you the vouchers. My friend was already attending class, lied to the nurse and the SW consultant picked up the mistake and she couldn't use her vouchers.

KP86 · 22/06/2016 13:46

Ahhh, good call. I'll ring the GP this afternoon.

Thanks so much, you've most likely just saved me £65 Grin

More drinking money for our holiday Shock

stripeyzebra321 · 22/06/2016 14:27

Fingers crossed your practice do them. I know round here they have been handed out for years. It used to be WW or SW but now it's only SW.

I asked the nurse for help 6 years ago and she gave me a few options there were also fat pills available.

Deffo worth a phone call.

seasidesally · 22/06/2016 16:09

great to see loads of posting

well i weighed in Boots and im exactly the same 15 stone, not sure if im pleased still the same or hmmmmm cos i havent lost but ive had many bars of choc and ice cream

so in all im pretty ok

also i seem to have lost 2 inches of my waist (though my waist is huge) so really pleased with that,i measured twice yesterday and twice today and it says the same so it must be true

im waiting for my period its been 45 days and no chance of being pregnant

years ago when them fat pills came out my auntie was perscribed them, put it like this the smallest bit of fat went straight through her and i mean she couldnt go far as she had to be near a toilet

i suppose it would make you think twice about eating fatty food
