Anyone starting today who wants to keep me company?

I'm starting LCHF today. Is there anyone else who is starting now or have recently started this diet who wants to join me so we can support each other?

I need to lose at least 12 kg but would ideally want to lose 17 kg. if possible before summer is here so I don't have to feel self conscious about wearing summery clothes.

Seaside - 2 inches is amazing well done! How often do you weigh?

I think this diet does crazy things to your cycle I've not been on for 2 years (coil) and I have been on a lot recently. Sucks

Yep that's those fat pills. They do work but there pretty awful. And the pain can be horrendous

KP86 · 22/06/2016 16:17

Rang the doctor, I can get a SW referral but have to see a GP, the nurse can't do it apparently. But the woman on the phone didn't know about it and had to ask so I'll check with the nurse myself on Monday. I can wait until then.

I could sit at their walk in clinic for 60-90 mins tomorrow or Friday and be seen sooner but with a 2.2yo DS that might make me lose the will the live.

seasidesally · 22/06/2016 16:26

i weigh at home alot but i have crap digital scales, but it gives me a rough idea if my weight is going down or up

i then weekly but its been 2 weeks now weigh at boots the chemist 50p and use that as my actual weight,it always seems to be higher at boots

i dont really measure myself but did 3-4 wks ago as my waist still made me look 7months pregnant, but have bee noticing it looking smaller in tops and i can breath in and control my tummy and pelvic floor more,so im 90% sure ive lost that on my tummy, bloomin hope so,lol

seasidesally · 22/06/2016 16:28

wizzywig · 22/06/2016 16:29

Is this the place to post all your low carb questions?

KP86 · 22/06/2016 16:30

I'm not going tonight, Sally, have to wait to organise my referral from doctor so I can get it on NHS.

KP86 · 22/06/2016 16:34

By the way, fabulous job on the inches lost. That's almost a whole size, you must be easily in a 16 now. Well done! Star

seasidesally · 22/06/2016 16:43

thank you,yes easily a 16,im in that inbetween a 14/16

sorry got wrong nite, are you still LC are eating more "normal" now

wizzywig well this thread was set up to support anybody doing LC so we all dip in and out,ask ??? one of us normally can answer or BIWI a poster keeps an eye on this thread and will help, basically ask away or just add your thoughts and im sure somebody will be able to help

welcome Smile

KP86 · 22/06/2016 16:52

Eating normally for the time being. But I've definitely noticed my appetite is much less than it used to be so if I can stay away from the sugary treats hopefully I won't undo everything before starting SW.

seasidesally · 22/06/2016 17:16

im sure you will, you have done great losing what you have and im sure you will do great with SW

they even do a range in Iceland how good is that

stripeyzebra321 · 22/06/2016 17:19

Fab news KP, it's worth holding on a week to get the vouchers!

KP86 · 22/06/2016 17:39

I was going to pop into Iceland today to have a proper look at their foods, I've looked before because some of the ready meals are quite low carb, but ran out of time this morning.

Plus we only have a tiny freezer (oh how I miss my chest freezer from home!) so anything I bought would have to go into the fridge and be eaten within a couple of days.

YogaDrone · 24/06/2016 12:00

Thanks again KP and good luck with SW.

Yes Stripey the evil gummy bears of death Wink Although I've eaten them twice now and not noticed any laxative effect and none of the cramping mentioned in the reviews. I guess it just depends on your constitution. Mine has always been cast iron and not much upsets it but I'm lucky with this I know (I didn't even get any indigestion or heart burn when I was pregnant with a 4.6Kg monster baby!)

Well done Sally a 2 inch loss is amazing Flowers

I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and have only lost 1.5kg. I think I'm going to have to rethink. It's expensive and fiddly (for me) and I'm not sure I can be motivated enough to persevere. But then I'm just generally very low this morning following the referendum decision so I may feel differently tomorrow. We'll see.

Have a good weekend everyone!

KP86 · 24/06/2016 18:34

You wouldn't believe it, I'm not heavy enough for my referral. Dr gave it to me based on starting weight and BMI, but SW said because I'm below 35 now and don't have any other weight related health problems I don't qualify according to my council's guidelines. Lucky I was going to join either way so it doesn't really matter. I'm not annoyed, it was worth a shot.

KP86 · 24/06/2016 18:39

YogaDrone, there is usually a stall at 3 to 4 weeks. Keep at it for a while longer and see. And depending on how much you have to lose (sorry, I have a terrible memory!) it may well be a slower loss than others experience. Less to lose, the slower it is.

1.5kg is still 3 blocks of butter that you are no longer carrying around and (hopefully) never have to again!

The three week hurdle is a toughie. I actually posted my own thread (before I found this one) at that point asking what I was doing wrong!

Up your water, especially in this warmer weather.

I know I'm not one to preach given I'm about to start SW, but this did work for me for 8-12 weeks before the losses stopped.

stripeyzebra321 · 24/06/2016 20:40

KP that's crazy, wow it really varies from area to area what the criteria is.

I'm 9 weeks in now, weight loss is really slowing and I'm not myself anymore so counting down to the 12 week marker now. My possibly run ketosis into 13 weeks.

I've been doing a bit of googling on ketosis and have seen a few sites say max 12 weeks then a break is needed as it can be quite hard on the liver.

My sleep has gone up the wall,, I drink quite a lot but last night was the pits honestly I go to the loo get into bed and about 4 mins later need to go again at one point I let down and got straight back up immediately. 16 times in total I went it's not right.

I'm a daily weigher I managed to gain 1.5 weds back back off by this morn.

Have a good weekend everyone

seasidesally · 24/06/2016 22:05

hi everyone,

didnt get to bed till 5am as watching the referendum so caught up with some sleep

everything ok here not much to report but i know my sweet tooth is being used far to often

i started taking apple cyder vinegar as its suppose to have loads of benefits, appetite suppresant, good for digestion etc but didnt get the one with the "mother" in it and couldnt get in the shops so my organic vinegar arrived today, its ok and we shall see about the health benefits

well KP see it as your not that big to warrant a referal, good luck with SW

seasidesally · 24/06/2016 22:07

ha ha im a daily weigher and its a real roller coaster sometimes

stripeyzebra321 · 26/06/2016 11:20

After being suck on the same weight for ages yesterday I took drastic measures by cutting calories right back to under 800 according to MFP. And it's worked 1.2lbs off overnight.

I did LC last year and remembered I did really well when I did that.

I feel I've got into desperate measures now as I know as soon as I stop LC the treats will start again and the lbs will pile back on.

As I intend to in a couple of weeks reintroduce carbs to my eve meal and from previous experience it goes a bit wrong also it was my bday last week and I have lots of yummy chocs that I've not even looked at I've been wondering if it would be possible to combine the 5:2 diet with low carbing. As a previous SW girl I know if you have a bad day or so you can pull it back in line and still have a fab loss so I do think it may work for me. I'm gonna have a think about that. Even if it's just to maintain.

KP86 · 26/06/2016 17:07

5:2 sounds good in principle, but I don't know if by the time you got back into ketosis it's almost time for carbs again. Maybe 12:2 would be more workable?

I agree you need to reintroduce carbs super slowly otherwise the weight will pile back on suddenly. Maybe go for complex carbs (brown rice and wholemeal pasta, very seedy bread and sweet potato instead of white) and no refined sugars?

I've been TERRIBLE over the past few weeks. Dreading first weigh in at SW, but it's a fresh start. I'm going tomorrow night. Heaps of groups around here but that one is soonest and I want to get started.

I keep thinking that this is my last chance before going strict again and I'm really going for it, rubbish food and drink wise.

seasidesally · 26/06/2016 18:06

sorry not much input from me have been doing alot of socialising and drinking Grin

just had the most amazing moussaka with spinach and broccoli on the side

it was a tesco finest one and 16g of carb but i dont care it was amazing and the first thing ive eaten all day

i will be glad when footys over its playing havoc with my lc,and ive decided to lose another 1/2 stone then im gonna re introduce small amount of carbs and calorie count

the way its going though its gonna take ages to get rid of this 1/2 stone

i seem to be staying the same at moment but i dont think it a stall rather that im eating to much sweet stuff, not every day but to much, basically its down to me to stop doing it

but im keeping up with the apple cyder vinegar so thats something

stripeyzebra321 · 27/06/2016 09:18

Good luck with SW KP. It's a great diet! And you've done so well.

I've got my old book here with green red and extra easy and I've been looking at the red diet as that is not a million miles away from what we're doing. My mums recently joined and there is no green and red now just extra easy unless your a vegetarian then you get a green book.

I see what your saying with 5:2 and my "normal" 5 days eating would put on lbs that's for sure but I'm going to try it whilst reintroducing carbs I think. Just to hopefully loose a few more lbs. I am getting closer to target and the problem I've really noticed is my top half has really shrunk but now my tops of my legs look huge. I've lost inches down there but they seem even larger now, they stick out further than before and my proportions are all over the place.

Maybe it's also lowering my expectations that I'm never going to look the way I want in my head. But il give it a go.

KP86 · 27/06/2016 17:20

Oh, I was thinking 5 days of LC and two normal days, not the other way around! lol :)

Meeting is at 7 tonight. Will come report in later.

KP86 · 27/06/2016 21:41

First SW cult group meeting tonight. Weighed in at 98.2. Tried not to laugh a lot at the rubbish motivational crap.

A bit disappointed that the group leader didn't make an effort to get to know the newbies beyond her sales spiel (which she must know back to front and inside out) but we were running behind due to latecomers so maybe that will happen as time goes on. No talk about how exercise fits in, but from what I can gather it doesn't win you any extra daily syns (junk allowance).

The plan looks ok, and I will see how I go this week. Most of the meat we already have in the freezer is not great for SW so I suspect I will be having a lot of syns this week while we finish it off!

Hope everyone is ok here.

stripeyzebra321 · 27/06/2016 22:20

Yes exercise on SW doesn't gain you any points unlike WW as there in the camp of not to do a 5 mile run and have a mars bar to compensate. It works tho, my mum who has thyroid issues and on steroids who was not 100% (ate out 3 times on first week) lost a huge 5.5lbs her first week.

I've been feeling so meh the last two weeks due to toilet trips in night and I have given up a lot of my daily coffee for low cal squash I may have done something daft but I'm taking "weight loss supliments" basically high caffeine pills and wow I feel so much better. Especially as I've dropped some carbs during my eve meal by using those 8cal rubber noodles / rice. It's working as weight is slowing shifting again. It's a temporary measure until next week before I return to norm cals I've been having on LC before the reintroducing!

Let us know how it goes KP
