Right chaps, while BIWI is drinking prosecco in sunny Italy away being busy and important, I'm your supply teacher for the next couple of days. BIWI has given me temporary responsibility for the Big Stick, so no messing about at the back there!

Well done on getting to week five, it's not easy and despite the fab support on here you've done this yourself, so remember how far you've come.

Please record your weight on the spreadsheet and marvel at your progress!

Temptations will come along, especially over bank holidays and half term treats, but remember that you're doing this for yourself, so be kind to yourself by not giving in to the temptation from things that do you harm and risk derailing you, as every time you look after yourself in this way it get easier. If you have a wobble, post on here - we'll remind you of all the tasty things you can have instead and why.

Have a lovely week!

morning all, just had yoghurt with 6 blueberries for breakfast to liven things up - first time in weeks it hasn't been eggs and it was a nice change. also chugging down the fizzy water like there's no tomorrow.

hoping everyone has a good weekend, keep posting what you're eating to give me meal ideas!

rubybricks · 01/06/2013 09:31

Grin at almondgate...

CiderwithBuda · 01/06/2013 09:39

Morning all.

Not feeling too bad this morning. Thanks for all good wishes and sympathy. Willie will bear that advice in mind but was trying to drink lots of water last night and found the more I drank the more I needed to go to the loo and the more painful it was. So I took some bicarb and went to bed.

Just had a yummy breakfast of 6 strawberries chopped in half and mixed into a tub of Fage yoghurt with a teaspoon of flaxseeds. Yum.

Yesterdays food was:
B - Fage yoghurt with blueberries
L - big salad of rocket, spring onions, cherry toms, chicken, feta and mayonnaise all mixed together.
D - BBQ - two sausages, a lamb steak, a chicken and chorizo kebab and salad. Three glasses of white wine.

Found my weighing scales and weighed in this morning. Was 14 8 on Monday and was disappointed as was desperate to be 14 7. Well I'm not 14 7. I'm 14 6!!!!!!! Very pleased. And determined that will still be 14 6 (or less!) for Monday's weigh.

I am starting C25k on Monday. I started it a few months ago and did two runs but then had a week of crap weather and stopped and have had various reasons/excuses not to start again. So am starting on Monday. We go on holiday in less than five weeks so I won't have finished by then but will take my trainers and carry on then. Planning on running Monday's, Wednesday's and Fridays. Not sure whether to start running fasted or not? Might give it a go on Monday and see. Will be going around 8.30 when I get back from taking DS to school.

BIWI · 01/06/2013 09:50

Yay to 14.6 Thanks!

Good luck with the running. I'm starting again tomorrow. (Have had to go right back to the beginning due to injury and have been ordered to take it easy and slow!)

I always run fasted if I can - I far prefer it.

Hi everyone, thought I'd jump in with a intro before starting afresh with LC - I'm a "fallen off the wagon" low-carber having lost 3stone on this WOL... I got a bit lax; money's been v tight (still is) etc etc - all those excuses - I still watch what I eat and avoid quite a lot of carbs BUT.. the weight is going on, I'm spotty again and just hate what I'm doing to myself. I have Fibromyalgia so exercise is difficult (I try to walk the dog every day but distance depends on how I feel). My DM has coeliacs and although I don't, I do have some intolerance to gluten so eating LC is just a bonus; I'm also carb addicted so again LC is right for me. Have I made enough reasons to convince myself to LC again yet?!

I'm currently reminding myself of recipes and hunting through the threads but my biggest problem with LC is breakfasts - I can't cook early in the mornings, I struggle just to get up so early breakfasts need to be easy - any suggestions would be good.

I will be weighing myself when I have plucked up courage to do so!

BIWI · 01/06/2013 13:48

Welcome, daisychicken! Smile

Plenty of reasons there to join us I think!

lots of lovely recipes here to inspire you

Just treat breakfast like it's any other meal. No need to have special breakfast foods.

Lots of us have Total full fat yoghurt for breakfast - in Bootcamp Light you can add a few berries to that.

CiderwithBuda · 01/06/2013 14:17

Thanks BIWI. Very nice to see that number on scales.

I think I will try running fasted. I have been waking up really early so might even manage to do it before I need to take DS to school.

Hi daisy chicken. As BIWI said lots of us have yoghurt for breakfast. I like the Total full fat Greek one but lots of people on here rate the Lidl one. Lidl is also great for LCing on a budget apparently.

Other breakfast I have are egg mayonnaise (can make up day before),
Slices if ham spread with cream cheese and rolled up,
Slices of smoked salmon with cream cheese
Hard boiled eggs

CrabbyBigBottom · 01/06/2013 15:01

Daisy a breakfast I really like that's very quick is smoked salmon in creme fraiche. It sounds really extravagant but I buy whatever salmon that on offer and a little bit goes a long way - I chop it finely and use loads of creme fraiche. I add a teaspoon of 'caviar' - lumpfish roe that costs about £2 a jar for extra fishy excitement. Grin It's like eating a bowl of savoury yoghurt, almost, and really easy to eat (I can be a bit funny about eating first thing in the morning).

HeirToTheIronThrone · 01/06/2013 15:22

Ugh, I deffo think u have a uti too - guzzling water and a tiny bit of cranberry juice mixed in (not good I know but can't get to doctors til Monday). My oldest friend and her DP are here for the weekend so tonight we are having coq au vin with celeriac dauphinoise and I have IPD chocolate mousse chilling in the fridge. It's a beautiful day here, hope you all have sunshine too.

kiwigirl42 · 01/06/2013 15:35

had a migraine last night but just recovered enough to have a bowl of chicken/ spinach curry over broccoli and a bit of blueberry/ raspberry almond crumble with thick cream. got lovely full belly.
Weird but true fact - even if my head is pounding, it doesn't hurt while I am actually eating? whats that all about then?

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp about your son' s croup. I was talking to a friend the other night about this - her son is 7 and has a rare type of croup that older kids can have called croup (can't remember first word - starts with E but will find out)
Apparently it edges on to being a type of asthma too. So try to get your son to a pediatrician for further help.

peggotty · 01/06/2013 18:04

Hi Folks, sorry to gategrash, just need a bit of advice. I'm doing the bootcamp (in a lurky way Grin) to lose about a stone. already lost 2 stones Low carbing last year. This is the first week - i've come through carb flu, even lost 4 pounds!! But today I am having THE MOST AWFUL cravings for rubbish - I'm on my own as dh and kids away so that I can study for an exam on Tuesday. I am struggling really badly with temptations for biscuits etc. Help!

I've not given in, today I had cold sausage for breakfast, homemade lc coleslaw with cheese grated into it for lunch and have just had chilli (no kidney beans) on a bed of crunchy shredded iceberg lettuce. Drank loads of water, 2 coffees with double cream.... but I'm still craaaaavvving!! What should I do? I know it's just psychological - how do I get through it?

Thanks so much for any advice!

peggotty · 01/06/2013 18:05

Oh and I've already had bowl of lidl yoghurt for snack!

BIWI · 01/06/2013 18:13

Go out for a walk? It's a nice day now, so you can get some exercise as well as distracting yourself!

Yama · 01/06/2013 18:44

Horrible sore neck today - must've be the way I slept. Sausages and celeriac wedges done in duck fat for dinner were lovely.

Yama · 01/06/2013 18:46

Must've been.
sorry, on phone, hard to correct.

captainmummy · 01/06/2013 19:39

Peggotty - lots of us drink liquorice tea in those 'sweet' cravey moments - its sweet in itself, so may be of help?

Doshusallie · 01/06/2013 21:20

B - 2 hard boiled eggs and a small teaspoon of PB
L - big salad (celery, cucumber, lettuce) with a tin of mackerel fillets in oil, and 2 cheese slices with pâté
S - some chicken bits of the boys fajitas
Tea - 2 salmon fillets with lots of buttery courgettes and mushrooms.

CrabbyBigBottom · 01/06/2013 21:34

Big arse. Drank much too much. Sad

B/L - eggs in clouds - this is gorgeous!
D - BBQ - smoky chicken with asparagus, courgette, tomatoes, in hollandaise sauce. Bloody wonderful, but I drank ever such a lot of wine. Hmm

2 cups of tea and loads of water.

I feel like a nice bit of pudding now. Blush

peggotty · 01/06/2013 21:35

Thanks BIWI and captainmummy. I'm afraid I caved and had some dark chocolate Blush. BUT it was the 70% stuff - not ideal for bootcamp but not disastrous in terms of carbs? Will have a look for liquorice tea - thanks! The choc has got rid of the craving - I won't have again though til I'm out of bootcamp....

Ruprekt · 01/06/2013 22:05

Peggotty.....pm me and I will send you some liquorice teabags as I am not keen on them!

At least you can then try them and see if you like them. SmileSmileSmile

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 01/06/2013 22:47

kiwigirl that's interesting, thanks. The doc we saw said it was a mild ish dose and he seems to be getting better as fast as he went downhill. The doc said it was much more common in babies-up to 5 age group but still seen quite regularly in primary school age (we are Scottish so that would mean up to age 11/12) very unusual in teenage/adults. My DH his dad is mildly asthmatic and so is my DSD his half sister (more than DH) so I will keep a close eye on him, thanks.

B/L 2 eggs scrambled with butter and double cream
S peanut butter
D roast chicken thighs with cauliflower cheese

The cauli cheese was made to teaandthorazines recipe in the food section, which i love, except I didn't have Philly (well I thought I did but it had turned and started to go foosty so in the bin) so I used some leftover Le Roule garlic soft cheese instead. Next time I will taste and check before I bung it all in, whew, certainly no vampires will be near chez TooMuch tonight! Was still yummy tho.

Not enough veg/salad, must do better tomorrow. Reporting on this thread is very helpful as when you actually think about what you've had and see it written down, the gaps become clear. No wonder dieticians always advocate keeping a food diary!

QueenofDreams · 01/06/2013 22:50

B: Mushroom, spinach and chorizo frittata
L: yoghurt, double cream and a few nuts
D: Sea bass fillet, cauliflower, broccoli, wilted spinach and some cheese sauce.

Drank a large glass of wine last night, but completely back on the wagon today. Also DP brought home some proper choc chip cookies. I love proper, chewy, doughy cookies. I didn't eat any though /halo Grin

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 01/06/2013 22:53

peggoty in my first bootcamp I would distract myself from evening cravings by having a hot bath and reading a good book. The heat of the bath seemed to help calm all the mental thoughts and it also made me drink more water to rehydrate, which also helps. But this was in October, not June so an evening walk may be a better idea!

BIWI · 01/06/2013 22:55

So today:

No breakfast (another IF day for me - please only do this if you are ketogenically-adapted)
Lunch - 2 Black Farmer sausages, red cabbage and spicy leeks (veg was left over from dinner during the week)
Dinner - pan-fried fillet steak, salad with garlic vinaigrette and celeriac tartiflette.

Seriously, if you cook nothing else from the recipe thread YOU HAVE TO COOK CELERIAC TARTIFLETTE BEFORE YOU DIE!

BIWI · 01/06/2013 22:56
Grin

It is fabulously gorgeous.
