Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

... for you to confess all. (Although I notice it seems to have gone a bit awry - some of the rows don't line up, so hopefully @FinallyHere will be along soon with her tool kit.

Good to hear from the end of the last thread that there are some good results. But also, there was a fair bit of slippage, even though it was only week 1. You need to keep an eye on that, as it won't be helping you in the long run.

@EquallyDetermined - please don't worry about seeming 'whiny' (which you weren't!). That's exactly what these threads are for. I was a bit puzzled, though, as to why you aren't enjoying the food, given how many lovely things we can eat. What have been typical meals for you? Can we help in any way? (And have you had a look at the recipe threads, for some inspiration?)

Thank you @BIWI for your advice, started adding a bit more salt, and upping the amount of leafy greens. I am feeling MUCH better!

Like you I was horrified at the recent reports about salmon farming, and really didn't fancy salmon any more. However, I've been doing a bit of research about non-farmed fish and there do seem to be some interesting companies out there. Probably more expensive, but I can put that against the ££££s I'm saving by not constantly buying snacks!

LadyBird1973 · 24/09/2023 11:45

Bit of a rubbish weekend here. Had some (not a lot) of chocolate yesterday and one glass of white wine on Friday night and appear to have put in a pound! Have really tried to stick with this but yesterday I had the massive carb munchies!
Back on it today though!

Ihavehadenoughalready · 24/09/2023 12:41

I had chuck eye steak on Friday for supper with a bit of onion, then on Saturday I had leftover steak for lunch and dinner, with just a bit of onion plus avocado. Expected to be angry with the scale this morning but I was down an entire pound since yesterday, and pretty sure I ate at least a pound and a half of steak in all. I also viewed several videos on you tube about people who'd gone "carnivore" and I'm intrigued. My chuck eyes were, btw, just as good as a ribeye, and much cheaper. I know I should have made some broccoli or something else green to go with but I was too lazy.

Today I will have Fage 5% fat (9g fat, 5g carb, 15g protein per serving) plain yogurt with some cinnamon and nutmeg mixed in for breakfast, then cheese bratwursts for supper (no bun), with the rest of the avocado and a few more onions. Or maybe make that fresh broccoli I got a few days ago, with shredded cheese melted atop.

My children still have not noticed I've lost 20 pounds now since August but one part-time coworker did! I think people who see me everyday don't notice. But at 5'4" and 182 (today) I'm still overweight, and according to BMI, still "obese". Hate that term.

Hi everyone, it is the end of week one for me so I will stick to the strict bootcamp next week as well. I have generally been feeling good and my skin is looking much better. I was up all night with awful stomach cramps on Friday though, which I have put down to eating too much cauliflower (I have ibs and have reacted to it before).

I have some challenges coming up this week with my husbands birthday and then Saturday at a friend's house and she always puts on amazing buffets with junk food. So I am going to try and plan ahead and not give in to temptation.

I also read through thread one which was really helpful especially about the cards in milk, as i can easily get through multiple cups of tea a day. This week I have allowed myself one a day and switched to herbal teas.

Ladybird1973 sorry to hear about your weekend and good luck for today.

Nowhere near enough veg in your day. Bootcamp isn't a carnivore-type diet - see rule 4!

This is important, as it's to ensure you're getting proper nutrition.

Thank you @Frumpyunicorn

@BIWI can I ask a question? For the last few days I've been feeling almost like I'm drunk, even when I've had no alcohol. It's like a feeling of being outside of myself mixed with feeling really tired and a bit disoriented. Is this something you've heard of on this woe?

BIWI · 24/09/2023 13:52

If we were in week 1 I'd say it sounds like a bit of carb flu - but as we're now at the end of week 2, not sure that's what it will be.

But there's one way of checking this; try increasing your carbs by having, say, a piece of toast or a piece of fruit, and see if this makes things better. If it does, then I'd suggest you're going too low with your carbs.

Just in case it is carb flu - are you getting enough salt?

I know.....I got lazy. But those chuck eyes were delicious..........

BIWI · 24/09/2023 13:55

I'm not saying you shouldn't be eating the meat! But you need to be adding (more) veg/salad to your meals

LadyBird1973 · 24/09/2023 14:07

I think salt is okay but will add done more in anyway. I've been doing this for a while so it's weird to have gone a bit funny now. Will see how today goes.

PowerTulle · 24/09/2023 14:08

Had some horrible 0% fat G yog substituted in my delivery. Bleurgh! I was going to try to smother it in cream but it still tastes foul. It’s a massive jumbo sized pot too! 🙁

It may not be low carbing then. If increasing your carbs doesn't make you feel better, then I think it must be something else - possibly viral?

@LadyBird1973 I had this partway through the last bootcamp - I described it to the doctor exactly as you have apart from adding hangover to the sentence! At the time the GP ordered more bloods and that's when I started taking a B12 supplement as although this was in the "normal" range it was the low end. It passed after a few days and I didn't even think that it might be BC related but was very very unsettling at the time.

ChimneyPot · 24/09/2023 14:33

@LadyBird1973 what is your blood pressure like? I have low blood pressure and if it drops too much I get like that? I think this WOE can lower blood pressure.

DD3 was home from drama school in London for the weekend and requested Roast Beef with all the trimmings. I had some beef, horse radish, cauliflower cheese, cabbage and one tiny piece of honeyed parsnip but not even taste the gratin potatoes, potato croquettes, roasties, stuffing or Yorkshires.
I even resisted the lemon cheesecake.

I even dumped most of the leftovers because she went back on an early flight today and I didn’t want to be tempted.

i hoping to do another week or two of strict bootcamp and then switch to boot camp lite at the weekends.

I have a few weekend trips coming up in October so being able to have a glass of wine might be nice.

LadyBird1973 · 24/09/2023 14:34

Thanks @TheOnlyMrsW and @BIWI . I do have a vit B complex but can be a bit sporadic at taking it. Maybe my iron is low again. I know I've had the proper carb cravings this week though, which had worn off. Will up the vitamins and iron and see if it settles. I don't actually feel ill though, just a bit 'out of it'.

LadyBird1973 · 24/09/2023 14:35

@ChimneyPot , that's a thought actually - I do tend to run on the low side re blood pressure.

Rogue1001MNer · 24/09/2023 16:08

Love reading how everyone is doing!

I had a good weigh on the scales this morning, which I'll record tomorrow on the spreadsheet.
Measurements not really changing, but hopefully it'll catch up/balance out in a week or two 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm nervous about BC lite. I'm fine on the strict one, and generally lose each week (just a couple of lbs or so, but I'm happy with that as it's consistent)
Worried that if I relax it'll stop working.
Is there any reading on BC lite?

Also, how do onions feature? I miss onions a lot!!!

Gnomegnomegnome · 24/09/2023 16:12

I’m back from holiday so will have a catch up with the thread later.
I didn’t do too well when away although in my defence there wasn’t many options!
I stuck to FFGY and black coffee for breakfast each day, lunch was crab salad/ roasted aubergine and feta but dinners weren’t so easy! I had a couple of new potatoes and some soup. I also accidentally ate a gluten free blueberry muffin.

I’m not expecting good results for tomorrow’s weigh in! Although I have noticed a slight difference in my stomach area when trying on a dress!

BIWI · 24/09/2023 16:12

@Rogue1001MNer you can still cook with onions - even on Bootcamp! You just need to be aware how carby they are. If you can, though, use shallots instead.

If you're concerned about Bootcamp Light, no need to move away from Bootcamp. Just remember, as I said, that it's really important that you eat plenty of veg and salad if you are staying on it, so that you get good nutrition.

Tubelight · 24/09/2023 16:55

@BIWI thank you for everything. I lost 8 lbs in the last two weeks so want to continuing with the low carb bootcamp but I am missing beans and pulses. Do you think I can add these for weekends only?

BIWI · 24/09/2023 17:07

No! Sorry. They are too carby for Bootcamp. Once we've got to the end, then it's obviously up to you. But during these 8 weeks we're keeping our carbs low enough to maximise weight loss.

As we head into week 2 ...

Next wee we have a choice. You can, if you wish, move onto Bootcamp Light, which means you can now include some nuts/seeds, some fruit (mainly berries), some chocolate (dark chocolate, which is at least 70% cocoa) and some alcohol (dry wine or spirits with a low calorie mixer).

Not all of the above, at every meal though!

However

Weeks 3 & 4 are notorious. In these weeks it is very, very common to see weight loss slow, stop - or sometimes even reverse. So you need to be careful.

Careful in your food choices, but also careful in how you react, should this happen to you.

Psychologically it can be quite tough to see the scales behaving like this when/if you know you have been following the rules. But if you've been losing happily in the first two weeks, then you know it works for you. So the mantra is KOKO - keep on keeping on.

Bearing this in mind, you may decide that you want to stay on strict Bootcamp - which is fine, as long as you're making sure that you're eating well/properly, and in particular making sure that the majority of your carbs are coming from vegetables and salad.

Alternatively, you can do a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Berries, nuts and seeds are what I’m looking forward to the most! Although I do fancy the hybrid version on strict boot camp during the week and light at the weekends.
I worry that I’m all or nothing so if I know that I can have berries and nuts at the weekend I’m less likely to eat a cake in the week!

Rogue1001MNer · 24/09/2023 18:45

Is there nothing to read? Dos n don'ts, etc?

I feel a little discomforted because I feel like I'm not sure what the rules are. I don't want to stuff up now, when it's all going so well
