Checking in with today's food.
B - 2 scrambled eggs on low carb toast. Made with a splash of cream and quite a lot of butter!
D - a steak mince bolognese with celeriac and leek mash. Again with quite a bit of butter and olive oil.

Am enjoying an alcohol and sugar free g&t. Yes, there's a bit of diet tonic in it but it's better than the real thing.

Also had some diet ginger beer and a lot of coffee.

Is it normal to feel so much better just 3 days in? I have an hour and a half commute each way on a Weds, and normally by the time I get home I am absolutely knackered, and a sweaty mess with swollen feet.

This evening I feel so full of energy and alert with no aches and pains. The main difference is usually I reward myself for going into the office with food from the farmers market like a Greek chicken flatbread with all the extras and graze on things like peanut m&ms and crisps. Today I ate: coffe and cream for breakfast; fried eggs, sausage and mushrooms from the staff canteen for brunch, and a couple of raw carrots at lunch time and didn’t even feel hungry until I got home. Amazing 🤩

Hope everyone else is doing well, I love reading what you all have eaten in a day :)

bella1426 · 13/09/2023 19:27

Hello hello checking in with my food diary

B - coffee with cream
L - massive salad with spinach, cucumber, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, avocado, smoked salmon, capers and mayo (working from home lunch, yum)
D - came back from nail appt to DP offering up a portion of some chicken fajita thing he had made. I had the mix (unknown sauce/salsa/prob some sugar) of chicken, peppers, onions but instead of the wraps I had it in some lettuce wraps with sour cream followed by some 5% GY I've to use up mixed with double cream
S - couple of babybel
Aaaaaaalllll the water

bella1426 · 13/09/2023 19:28

Out tomorrow night on a work thing. I'll drive (it's the only way to even possibly stay on track by not drinking) but any advice on the menu? I've had the beans with chilli and pork before and love them so defo those but wondering if there is anything else there bootcamp compliant?

Went to yoga and didn’t fart so that’s a win. Also discovered I really like yoga, after a lifetime
of telling myself I hate it.

Today I had:

B - 2 hard boiled eggs with mustard mayo.

L - kind of missed as I fell asleep for a few hours (thanks CFS!)

D - cauliflower base pizza 🍕 (first page on the vegetarian LC recipes thread, if you haven’t tried this one DO IT, it’s amazing)

BIWI · 13/09/2023 20:49

@bella1426 looks like quite a lot you could choose - with the proviso that you never know how much sugar has been used in any of the sauces!

But all these sound good to me:

Spicy Iberico pork (I'd forgive the peanuts for now!)
Nameko mushrooms
Seabass fillet (although I have no idea what Jing Yu is)
Wagyu steak
Iberico pork char siu
Dry fried green beans
Wok fried pak choi

Brunch was a 3 egg omelette and a few slices of bacon and some coffee

This kept me full for ages whilst I had my head stuck into work but did have another espresso to keep me going and water

Then because DS was feeling poorly and hungry after school I made a Chinese chicken stir fry so I had some of that so ate earlier than planned

I carried on with work and now I'm listening to an audiobook to cleanse my brain and then I'll be going over my work.

dimples76 · 13/09/2023 21:29

Today I have had:

B: 2 boiled eggs sliced and spread with butter
L: Broccoli and cheese crustless quiche with salad
D: Sea bass with runner beans and shoogled babycorn

Feeling pretty good as I am having a rather challenging week (money worries, work stresses and fighting for support for DS with SEN). I have not used food yet...I went to a cafe with a friend who was having coffee and cake but I ordered tea and water instead. A new pair of jeans was delivered, size 18 and they fit generously. I appreciate that this is a strange boast but I started the year wearing size 22 trousers so I am definitely heading in the right direction. I followed the Jan bootcamp but then decided to give myself Easter off - not the best call as I struggled to get back on track.

BIWI · 13/09/2023 22:05

That's not a strange boast at all - dropping from a 22 to an 18 is a significant achievement! Flowers

fruitstick · 13/09/2023 22:25

B - FFGY
Lunch - chicken and egg mayonnaise
Dinner - chicken curry with roasted cauliflower.

Lots of water.

My new dilemma is that my jeans have worn a hole in the crotch. Too much chafing.

Therefore. Do I buy a new pair or try and hold off for a while until I can get in a smaller size.

FWIW I'm an 18 now. I have another pair of 18 trousers that I can't even do up so I think it all depends on the cut anyway.

PowerTulle · 13/09/2023 22:28

Catching up from yesterday, when I ate nothing against the rules, but had no veg or salad. I’d planned a lovely dinner of chicken and veg and then it all went pear shaped and I just scoffed a chicken leg and went to bed!!

So today I had:

Ffgy and cream
coffees x 2
Rollitos
Roast chicken with huge pile of veg and cheese sauce
Lamb chops with massive Greek salad

2.5L water.

ginislife · 13/09/2023 22:28

Can you only get full fat yoghurt that's low carb in natural flavour ? Makes sense you can but I'm not a fan of yoghurt really - especially plain. I was looking in Waitrose today but it seemed all the flavours were a minimum of 11g per 100g

Better food today. B was boiled ham, 1 boiled egg, 6 baby toms, cucumber.
L was a pot of natural cottage cheese that wasn't low fat, an egg, a bit of ham left from breakfast. D was 2 chicken thighs, leek & courgette cooked in butter.

nappiesandcontracts · 13/09/2023 22:30

Congratulations @dimples76! That's amazing!!

Noted re calories @BIWI - to be honest I'm just tracking out of interest more than anything else as this WOE is sooo different from diets I've tried before.

Baystard · 13/09/2023 22:30

Hello all, thanks to @BIWI for this new shiny bootcamp.

I'm starting a little late as I was on holiday but I've been reasonably good whilst away - no pastries, no cheap carbs, plenty of cheese and evoo, and the carbs I did eat were very small amounts of very high quality things. I don't have much to lose though as I've lost 4 stone in total but I've put 5-6lb back on this year and I'd like to lose this plus a few more pounds. I find it easier to stick to LC when I have alot to lose, I need a way to find the same motivation when my clothes do actually fit.

I feel conflicted about mechanically separated meat as I think that eating all of the animal is a good thing (organ meat, connective tissue etc all being denser in nutrients than muscle), but it's what they add to it in processing to make it resemble more recognisable that is the problem.

Baystard · 13/09/2023 22:54

@dimples76 well done on the jeans 2 sizes smaller!

@fruitstick in my experience jeans always do wear out in the crotch, and I say that as someone shaped like Peppa Pig (round but with stick legs). If they were very expensive and you don't need to wear them too soon then I'd be tempted to buy smaller ones but ideally I'd get the 18 again because there's joy in realising they're properly too big Grin

A pinch of cinnamon in full fat greek yogurt livens it up @ginislife

adviceatthislatestage · 13/09/2023 23:06

Checking in.

B-cup of tea
L-peppered mackerel salad
D-chicken drumsticks and salad

S1- beef jerky
S2- 2x slices of cheddar cheese

Water intake only 1500ml.

Resisted offer of cake from local farm shop - they're yummy, so am pleased that I actually resisted.

EquallyDetermined · 13/09/2023 23:18

Evening, it has been a busy week and I'm having trouble keeping up with the thread, but things are going OK and a bit of a water whoosh has started. I can see a reduction in puffiness around my eyes. Terrible wind today though, it is just as well I didn't go to yoga!

Ihavehadenoughalready · 13/09/2023 23:33

Supper today was oven-baked salmon with a side of cauliflower mixed with cheese.

I am having trouble drinking so much water.

Having started low carb about a month ago, I am noticing my shirts and pants are looser, my scrub tops at work fall over my hips and rear better. Nobody has noticed I've lost weight yet, though...I feel like it's my little secret, but surely another ten pounds will be noticeable? I started at 202 a month ago and I weighed 185 this morning. 😌

Rogue1001MNer · 14/09/2023 00:03

@Ihavehadenoughalready for me when I started losing most people didn't notice, and then I hit a particular point and loads of people (from different areas of my life, so people who didn't know one another) all seemed to notice all at once.

I feel like I've had a breakthrough today.
I found yesterday quite tough.... I REALLY wanted off-limits snacks. I didn't have any, but it was hard.
Today cravings lasted much less long, there were fewer if them and way less intense.

I kept thinking about those posts about emotional eating and feeling sated and they really helped.
Although, like posters above, I am eating a LOT. But it's all on-programme.

I feel like my head's in the game now. And that's fab (just hope the scales agree on weigh day!)

@fruitstick fwiw, I think buying anything that's currently too small to be comfortable is just depressing and unhelpful, and won't make you feel good.
I'd buy the cheapest you can get in whatever your size is today, and hope it gets too big before it wears out.
Then enjoy buying the next size down and experience the joy of fastening it easily and it sitting well on your body.

Sheraprincessofflower · 14/09/2023 06:34

@fruitstickin that scenario I’d scour Vinted for the same brand and type of jeans that had developed the hole and buy a really cheap second hand pair from there to tide me over for a few weeks then buy the next size down from the shop.

TheOnlyMrsW · 14/09/2023 07:09

Quickly checking in before getting ready for one of my rare office days!!!! Have just seen below 12stone on the scales for the second time (first was on the last BC) in at least 20 years, now determined to keep that sight 😊

Today will be very quick breakfast of FFGY while getting ready and DC to school then probably lots of water and herbal tea.......v passive aggressive boss has arranged lunch for our meeting but all sandwiches/pasta salad/cake despite me saying that I can't have them. Didn't find out til late last night so little time to plan, and despite being slap bang in the middle of Manchester I'll struggle to get anything else due to no time between meetings 😡😡😡

@fruitstick second the idea of a comfortable size, I'm about to embark on the hell that is jeans shopping for winter and dreading it!!!

Trying to come up with next week's plan as well - I shop first thing Friday as it's my non-working day so like to be organised, full complement of carbies Sun,Mon,Tues and I might be away Weds and Thurs but haven't decided yet. Have a good day everyone

RooRooCooChoo · 14/09/2023 07:12

Yesterday I totally failed to stick to my food plan, but still managed to keep to the rules, including avoiding alcohol at last night's event!

Today's plan is
B: smoked salmon w cream cheese, cucumber and lettuce
L: Probably on the go but I have scoped a nearby M&S and am looking forward to prawns and Serrano ham crisps
D: fish curry w cabbage

RooRooCooChoo · 14/09/2023 07:14

@dimples76 well done! Two jeans sizes is so impressive.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 14/09/2023 07:14

Yesterday went completely tits up, still low carb but not a sensible or sustainable WOE by any means. Too many work and home dramas - today will be better.

B: Greek yogurt, cream
L: half a pack of ham and a chuck of cheddar
D: chunk of blue cheese and two glasses of red wine (am into BC lite before the stick comes for me)

Todays plan:
B: Greek yog but no cream cos we've run out
L: am in the office so will pop to M&S on the way in and get some LC goodies
D: going to try a recipe I saw on insta - chicken breast stuffed with red pesto, mozzarella and pepperoni with buttery veg

MyShinyThing · 14/09/2023 07:33

Morning everyone, well done to everyone that's sticking with it even when things haven't been ideal.

I'm feeling a bit delicate this morning, LCHF seems to have the opposite effect on my bowels than it does to most people and it was particularly bad last night. My stomach is still so unsettled that I couldn't face breakfast this morning.

Started the day with a glass of electrolytes in water to hopefully sort the lingering headache and hoping my stomach will have settle by lunch. Packed a salad with soft boiled eggs and evoo.
