Jan '23 Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 2 - how did you get on?!

BIWI · 15/01/2023 23:00

Evening all! I'm posting the week 2 chat thread this evening, as I know how keen everyone will be to post tomorrow. As I'm retired now, I no longer have to set an alarm to wake up, so I don't want to keep everyone waiting tomorrow morning to post.

I love this week. It's when we see how much people have lost, and it can be a significant amount. It can be a real leap of faith for anyone who hasn't low carbed before, and all those who really don't believe you can eat that much fat and still lose weight!

I'm really hoping that you've all had a good first week, and that your commitment 'to the cause' has been rewarded with a good result - be that on the scales, with your tape measure, or the currently-too-tight clothes that you've been trying on.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope very much that you've had a good first week, and that you're feeling supermotivated for the rest of Bootcamp.

However - if you haven't lost, or you have even gained, please don't be downhearted. We're all different, and there may be lots of reasons why this is the case for you. It's also really important to note that it's not a competition. We all lose at different rates - plus, anyone who is bigger will lose more/faster than someone who is smaller.

Hopefully there are other benefits to this WOE that will keep you on track - at the very least, I hope that you have been enjoying the food, and that you don't feel deprived, like you would be on a low calorie/fat diet.

And I had a small piece of the most gooey Camembert just now as I was cooking….divine, think it’s allowed

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 18:43

Thanks Tangled, I’ll get there

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/01/2023 18:47

@DryWhiteagainW It’s allowed!

I’m very excited to stock up on cheeses tomorrow.

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 19:00

The one thing I’ve always found hard to give up is cheese. I love booze too, but cheeselessness makes me sad

QforCucumber · 19/01/2023 19:00

Another moping dh @venusandmars ‘but there’s nothing in the fridge’ it’s fit to bursting!

however, I have just set the microwave on fire (yes actual fire ffs) microwaving a celeriac - thanks but no thanks bbc good food recipe, is charcoal low carb?🤦🏽‍♀️😂

@DryWhiteagainW - to do strike through, you type a double dash ( - ) before and after what you want to strike through. But you need to make sure that a) you don't have any dashes in the middle of what you want to strike through and b) that the settings on whatever devise you're using don't automatically change a double dash to a long dash Confused

EVOO Extra Virgin Olive Oil added to the list of acronyms, hat tip @DryWhiteagainW

BonnieBairn · 19/01/2023 19:57

Can anyone recommend something nice to drink? I'm going to a party tomorrow night and want to stay off the booze but don't want to just drink water all night.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/01/2023 19:59

@BonnieBairn I’d go for tonic with ice and a slice. But you might get the Big Stick since we’re still in week 2...

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/01/2023 19:59

SLIMLINE tonic, that is!

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 20:08

Thanks prettybird

Bonny I drank sparkling water with a good dash of lime juice, ice and a slice last night. Quite nice —but not as nice as Hendricks with cucumber, Chablis or a chunky Merlot—

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 20:08

Bloody iPad not letting me strike through

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 20:08

Celeriac mash with salmon was lush

AllTheBlackCoffee · 19/01/2023 20:17

I've just shoogled my very first sprout, well several of them! I have to say they were...drum roll...really quite nice. On the list for next week too, tho I'm not sure I'll ever get to the point where I can have them for breakfast.

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/01/2023 20:24

Meals today:

L: sautéed veg with two fried eggs, lots of olive oil and butter.

D: 4 pork chipolatas roasted in a small gratin dish of leftover chilli, big handful of sprouts on top, because I don’t have any other veg left.

Also 1 coffee, 2 tbsp of double cream

Gingerwarthog · 19/01/2023 20:37

Meals today
Green yoghurt and honey
Chicken salad
Tomato soup with cheese grated on top
Is it permissible to have a glass of red wine tomorrow evening???

TangledWebOfDeception · 19/01/2023 20:41

Green yoghurt

Let me guess...sprouts?? Grin

Gingerwarthog · 19/01/2023 20:53

@TangledWebOfDeception
Well of course! Puréed and blended in.
Highly recommended

BIWI · 19/01/2023 20:53

@Gingerwarthog No! Not till next week

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 20:58

Can you have unlimited celeriac?

prettybird · 19/01/2023 21:01

@DryWhiteagainW - your strike through worked on my MN (on MN iOS app) Smile

DryWhiteagainW · 19/01/2023 20:58

Can you have unlimited celeriac?

Celeriac is I understand good to eat to satiety. It does tend for me to be very 'umm, freeing so that I tend to limit my portion size to avoid too much 'urgency'.

Delicious as 'chips' or dauphinois

BIWI · 19/01/2023 21:34

Celeriac is very low carb @DryWhiteagainW, so no need to restrict it - other than it would get pretty boring if you ate tons of it and - as PP have intimated - it can have a very specific effect on your bodily movements!
