Morning all!

As ever, here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Looking forward to reading how you all got on.

Hopefully it's good news, but if it's not what you expected then have a think about what you've been doing - read the rules again and make sure you know what to do.

If you're sure you've been following the rules, then post and let me know what your last 3-4 days have been like in terms of what you've been eating and drinking.

Really enjoying reading the thread. I'm no cook but I'm going to come out of my comfort zone and try some of the recipes I wouldn't normally choose. I'm down 2 lbs this week and I'm very pleased with that.

SettingPrecedents · 01/08/2022 20:00

Has anyone come across block mozzarella anywhere? The solid stuff, not the soft white balls. The only option I seem to be able to find is a 2.2kg block on Amazon and I can’t see myself getting through quite enough to justify that!

Baystard · 01/08/2022 20:06

Could you freeze it in more manageable lumps @SettingPrecedents ? I buy regular mozzarella and freeze it and it seems to behave as expected when defrosted, though I've no experience with the block type.

ChimneyPot · 01/08/2022 20:09

Any suggestions for something to sweeten rhubarb with other than sweetner? I really fancy rhubarb with ginger and cream.

Chocasaurus · 01/08/2022 20:09

Great to see such successful losses for week one, really motivating. I've been utterly staggered by a loss of 7.4lb this week - I suspect some of that is to do with me eating removing the chocolate and treats from the house pre-bootcarb, as well as end of period bloat. But strengthened my resolve to carry on, and mini goal one achieved.

Today's LBW (little big win) isnt really to do with bootcamp, but I felt my interview went well and found out just before leaving work I got the job :D A sideways move into an area I'm more interested in, and with some hopefully better long term prospects.

B: greek yoghurt and coffee with a splash of milk
L: protein box from CRUSHD, with avo, salmon, egg and chicken on a bed of spinach. A few seeds on it but not enought to be an issue I hope
D: (bunless) turkey and courgette burgers topped with cheddar
W: 3l so far and about to have another glass of water with dinner

@prettybird am definately going to try cinammon with my next yoghurt breakfast, can't belive I didn't think of it!

FinallyHere · 01/08/2022 20:19

@ChimneyPot poached rhubarb with no sugar or sweetener is delicious as a vegetable, particularly with roast duck breast and buttered spinach.

I may be showing my bias here. My father would eat raw rhubarb unsugared. To me, a child with a very sweet tooth, it seemed the epitome of sophistication.

@Chocasaurus that's a massive victory! Well done you.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 20:23

So hot today!

B - Greek yoghurt and clotted cream
L - slice of goats cheese
D - roasted veg (celery, courgette, mushroom, broccoli), BBQ pork loin steak.

Fluids: 600ml tea, 3.8 litres water.

SettingPrecedents · 01/08/2022 21:04

@Chocasaurus wow, what a fab day! Celebrate with a glass of water 😂

@Lougle ah, I saw that one and assumed it was the normal type. I’ll give it a try!

@Baystard freezing is a good idea, I’ll keep that as plan b!

venusandmars · 01/08/2022 21:22

Caught up at last! I've got dgc staying for a few days so I've been reading sporadically but too busy thinking up exciting activities and refereeing fights to have time to post!

Someone is going to Italy on holiday (sorry can't remember who) - while it has the reputation for being the land of pizza, pasta and risotto, it also has plates of meats and cheeses, olives, artichokes and other lovely antipasta delights. Anchovies, sardines, prawns, fish. Lots of amazing salad ingredients. I was there earlier this year and lost weight! The main challenge was that breakfast is basically loads of cake / pastries. While dh tucked into those I had an expresso macchiato - I felt very sophisticated!

Food today (catering for very active, very hungry dc)
B - bacon and egg (this was 2nd breakfast for dgc, they'd already had cereal at 7am), and I had a coffee with cream dgc need no stimulants
L - nothing, I was still full from breakfast and lunch was very early since dgd had to go to a party. They had pasta then cake and fruit.
D - sausages with cabbage and cauliflower (potatoes for the others followed by jelly and strawberries).

Another hectic day in store tomorrow!

CarpetMollusc · 01/08/2022 21:29

Thanks @venusandmars it is me that is off to Italy this week. Great to know you lost weight, that's just the inspiration I need. I'm vegetarian so no fish or meat for me while I'm there, but can't wait to find some lovely antipasti stuff!

Some great losses today, well done everyone.

B- mushroom and spinach omelette with avocado and sour cream dip
L- red Thai curry soup type thing (homemade) with loads of veg, coconut milk and tofu
D- spinach and cream cheese gratin
S- couple of babybel with coleslaw

pinknsparkly · 01/08/2022 21:55

I've lost 2.9lb this week which I'm very pleased with. After being chuffed with my water intake yesterday (4l) I've struggled again today and only managed about 2l. I'm going to try for another 0.5l before bed.

Lunch = avocado and feta salad with vinegar and olive oil dressing
Dinner = chicken with garlic mushrooms and FLGV.

Is coconut allowed during the first two weeks? Or later on? I make frozen coconut cream ice lollies for my daughter (100% coconut cream, nothing else) and really fancied one earlier but had no idea if they were allowed or not 😂

cupcakedaisy · 01/08/2022 22:05

How much greek yoghurt do people tend to have? I have 100g and don't know if this is an appropriate amount, keeps me fullish but not always.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 22:09

@pinknsparkly coconut is a weird one. It's technically a drupe rather than a nut. But also, different brands of coconut cream contain different levels of carbs.

Sainsbury's is 4.5g/100g

Tesco is 1.6g/100g (added water, I think)

Blue Dragon UHT is 1.9g/100g

But Blue Dragon creamed coconut block is 9.6g/100g.

I think you'll just have to be really careful to pick one that is low carb. They aren't all the same at all, despite having the same name.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 22:11

@cupcakedaisy we're not meant to weigh on this WOE, but I find that yoghurt is an easy one to go overboard with because it doesn't look like much in a bowl. I've settled on 100g yoghurt but I add in 25g of clotted cream, which boosts the fat level. I'm so honesty, I could have less of each because that keeps me going easily from around 7am to 2pm ish.

Lougle · 01/08/2022 22:15

@pinknsparkly following on from my post, apparently:

"The reason for the difference in states between creamed coconut and coconut cream is the fact that creamed coconut is made from dehydrated fresh pulp of mature coconuts. Whilst coconut cream is made from the non-dehydrated fresh pulp."

So if you use coconut cream (the tinned stuff) you should be ok as long as it doesn't have added sweeteners. It's creamed coconut blocks that is higher in carbs.

pinknsparkly · 01/08/2022 22:57

Thanks @Lougle - the brand I've been used is creamed coconut, diluted down with water to make coconut cream. Once diluted, that works out at about 8g carbs per 100ml so off the cards! I'll need to figure out another low-carb frozen dessert option 😋

Bunce1 · 01/08/2022 23:02

Hi- sorry so late to the second thread!

b/ tuna mayo with cucumber
l/baba ganouche with kale chips
d- chicken thigh with Boursin, green salad and avocado.

Bunce1 · 01/08/2022 23:06

Oh and weighed myself but can’t type on the ss. User failure I’m sure so will do it tomorrow.

2lbs down.

SaSamhradh · 01/08/2022 23:15

One lb loss. That'll do. 😊

Lougle · 02/08/2022 06:41

@Bunce1 I've added your weight as 124lb on the SS. If it needs to be different and you can't do it, let us know 😊

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 02/08/2022 08:25

Great to see everyone's losses yesterday! I have woken up with a head cold please not covid again thanks to my germy toddler 😬 trying not to feel too sorry for myself!

Chocasaurus · 02/08/2022 08:26

Oh the disappointment when your avocado isn't ripe - first world problems 😂

TheOnlyMrsW · 02/08/2022 08:38

Back yesterday and STS which quite frankly I'm amazed by as food choices over the weekend have been abysmal, plus the vats of G&T consumed to go with so I'll take that!!!!!
Off to meal plan, shop and catch up with you all 😊

Rshard · 02/08/2022 08:41

Congratulations @Chocasaurus on the new job and can totally relate to the avocado disappointment! Tricky buggers really, but if you catch them during their apparently 10 minute window of being perfectly ripe…😀
