Morning all.

I was going to link, as usual, to the spreadsheet, but it doesn't appear to be working for me this morning Confused. Will have to call on @Baystard to help out!

I was glad to read on the other thread, though, about continuing losses - which is great to hear, especially as we have just finished the dreaded weeks 3 and 4. Hopefully the losses will continue from now on.

This week is likely to offer challenges with the Jubilee weekend, and the inevitable parties (sorry, work meetings) Wink

Like many others, I expect, we're planning on a barbecue - but thankfully barbecue food is probably the most low-carb friendly way to eat at a social gathering. As long as you avoid burger buns or hot dog buns, it's usually all pretty low carb fare - especially when you're making your own salads and marinades etc.

So this week's challenge is to share your favourite barbecue recipes and tips!

In the circumstances I'd go for the bean chilli @Jollyholibobs with veg instead of rice. It sounds like it would be high in fat with the cheese and soured cream and you might then not need to eat alot of the beans themselves in order to be filled up?

Baystard · 01/06/2022 17:48

Could you take something fatty to surreptitiously eat before you go out to fill yourself up a bit @Jollyholibobs and then ask for the halloumi as a main course, with extra salad?

Jollyholibobs · 01/06/2022 17:57

Thanks @BIWI thats a good shout. 😊

Jollyholibobs · 01/06/2022 17:59

Also good ideas @Baystard thanks.

pangolinfan · 01/06/2022 19:35

@bella1426 well done for not giving up - I had a wobble after a weekend of serious lapses and a couple of pounds back on, but I am back on it again this week. Helps to see that others are going through the same. Here's tonight's ratatouille from the veggie recipes thread. Rubbish photo as we'd eaten half of it before I took the photo but it was delicious with some pan fried fish. I make this a lot and it's great the next day too.

Lougle · 01/06/2022 19:57

That looks lovely @pangolinfan !

I've had a rubbish day, tbh. Awake in the early hours, so head's been banging all day again.

We went out at lunch time. Took the kids to Subway, but thought I could have a salad. The lettuce was awful. The girl took it out back and I heard her say 'I can't serve that!' and the bloke said 'Just pick the good bits out..' I declined the salad 🤢

Difficult to find anything suitable at Tesco that was also a single portion but managed in the end.

B - Greek yoghurt with raspberries
L - 2 hard boiled eggs, mozzarella balls in pesto
D - salad: salad leaves, baby plum tomatoes, olives, ½ avocado, 1 slice belly pork, oil and vinegar dressing

Fluids: 3 X 750ml electrolyte water, 330ml mineral water, 6 cups of tea.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 01/06/2022 21:22

Hi all, I hope everyone has had a good day

@Jollyholibobs I would prob have the stroganoff (although I hate mushrooms) but with veg, it might keep you on the low carb track? It's frustrating when you are trying your best but also don't want to draw attention to the fact. Esp if it's with people you know, but don't know we'll enough to explain properly iykwim

B: fasting so had creamy coffee at 10.30
L: leftover fritatta from last night
D: chicken skewers with peppers and tomatoes, tzatziki (quite a lot, maybe too much?) and cauliflower rice with butter

My MIL is coming this weekend and I'm planning to have steak one night with veg. She & I both enjoy although DH doesn't so it's a nice treat. I am thinking of making @prettybird choc pot from the dessert thread. We will have an Indian takeaway another night, just wondering whats the least bad thing I can have? They have chicken tandoori pieces or lamb kebabs, they might be an option? She loves Indian food but lives alone and never gets it for herself

glamourousindierockandroll · 01/06/2022 21:40

I've slipped today. I was at a farm park with a friend (and children, not just for the craic). I was being polite, as friend wanted lunch. I'd hoped there would be salad options but it was covid-esque table service, order on the app, no interaction with the staff.

A tuna panini was ingested. Mercifully, there were no chips.

I am so so so pissed off at myself for not preparing something to take or just having coffee. School holidays are notoriously bad for me. I do not do well out of my routine.

BIWI · 01/06/2022 21:52

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore yes, any tikka/tandoori (dry) dish will be fine. Along with a veg side dish like cauliflower or spinach or mushroom bhaji.

We've had a great holiday and smashed 100k steps in 4 days!! Dog is broken Grin. Evidence attached!

@Baystard I'm not sure it's been that quick as 2 stone since Jan bookcamp, pretty steadily. I'm going to massage as much as possible and hope the water washes it out Confused

Sorry to hear of slip ups and difficult food choices - I've done ok as breakfast at the cottage, made salads for lunch and pub food is pretty good if you're not veggie. Everywhere has been happy to do no bread/potatoes/chips and add salad or extra veg. I had one very measured 'slip' which was a pint of cold lager after our 11 mile walk around Derwent Water. I don't feel bad at all and won't repeat for a while.

Not looking forward to the traffic heading home tomorrow but the family not keen at getting up at 6.30am! Dog is with me on this one....

KOKO all Smile

ditavonteesed · 02/06/2022 08:04

Blimey @SummerSazz that's some step count. I can never seem to get above 25,000 even if I don't stop moving all day.

My dog appears to have kennel cough so all my lovely plans for the weekend are cancelled. Also going to struggle to get my steps in and also how does one entertain a Dalmatian with no walks?

Jollyholibobs · 02/06/2022 09:40

Oh no @ditavonteesed hope you dog gets well soon. Will he lie on the sofa and watch telly like a poorly child?

Interesting weighing result which only goes to show what tosh the what the scales say is and you should not get too hung up on. I woke and weighed at 6 today. Then remembered it’s a bank holiday went back to bed and to sleep. Weighed again at 9.00. 1.2lbs less than 3 hours earlier. I think they are pretty reliable scales. I still like to weigh daily but I look at the trends. I always compare todays weight with a week ago as a check to see if I am on track.

Sounds like a holiday hope the return journey is ok@SummerSazz .

B black coffee
L mushroom omelette and salad
D fish stew with cauliflower rice

have a great day everyone

pinknsparkly · 02/06/2022 10:22

Thanks everyone for indulging me in my self pity wallow! @comfortablyfrumpy , fingers crossed we'll both have a nice drop on the scales soon (whichever ones you use!).

@SummerSazz - I did find that dry body brushing really helped although I found it quite uncomfortable. I've switched it out for using Soap and Glory textured shower mitts (they seem to be rougher the other ones I've tried) in the shower and being a bit rough and brutal. It's much more comfortable than dry body brushing but seems to give similar results for me.

@ditavonteesed - we've also had our weekend plans cancelled thanks to a poorly toddler who also hates being cooped up inside. It's going to be a fun jubilee weekend for us too and you have my sympathies!

For breakfast we've had a delicious serving of scrambled eggs with pancetta mixed through. My toddler insisted on peas and green beans :-)

Dinner will be creamy sauce with the rest of the pancetta (my husband brought home 400g of it as it was reduced to clear!)

pinknsparkly · 02/06/2022 10:23

And thanks for the various recommendations of 30day shred. I shall look it up on YouTube!

prettybird · 02/06/2022 10:38

I alternate between the Shred and Ripped in 30, but I have them both on DVD. I'm currently on Level 3 of Ripped (I do a session 3 days a week, on alternate week days, and do 4 days per Level). not looking forward to next week's Level 4 which includes the dreaded burpees
