Morning all.

I was going to link, as usual, to the spreadsheet, but it doesn't appear to be working for me this morning Confused. Will have to call on @Baystard to help out!

I was glad to read on the other thread, though, about continuing losses - which is great to hear, especially as we have just finished the dreaded weeks 3 and 4. Hopefully the losses will continue from now on.

This week is likely to offer challenges with the Jubilee weekend, and the inevitable parties (sorry, work meetings) Wink

Like many others, I expect, we're planning on a barbecue - but thankfully barbecue food is probably the most low-carb friendly way to eat at a social gathering. As long as you avoid burger buns or hot dog buns, it's usually all pretty low carb fare - especially when you're making your own salads and marinades etc.

So this week's challenge is to share your favourite barbecue recipes and tips!

Oh dear! Or rather, there were ubercamp meals and shopping lists, but when I click on the tab, they seem to have disappeared.

Can anyone else check their spreadsheet and see if it's the same for them?

Lougle · 31/05/2022 12:25

The tab is there but empty, @BIWI

pinknsparkly · 31/05/2022 13:11

Oh wow, thanks @Lougle - I guess cocktail sausages are off the menu for me then!! I'd missed the 5% thing somewhere along the lines.... I'm also still a bit stuck in the gestational diabetes way of eating, where I needed to make sure that a food had as much, or more, fat/protein than carbs rather than looking solely at carbs. Happily, the big size sausages I've been eating are 4g carbs/100g so that's not so bad :)

pinknsparkly · 31/05/2022 13:12

@BIWI - the uberbootcamp tab is blank for me too in the spreadsheet (or uber buttcamp as I just managed to type!)

pinknsparkly · 31/05/2022 13:13

@ditavonteesed , thanks. I'll check out Jillian Michaels. She was also on my radar but always looks scarily fit. Though I need to just bite the bullet and get on with doing something!!

BIWI · 31/05/2022 13:27

Hmm. I think we need @Baystard to the rescue!

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of any of the ubercamp recipes/lists either, as I wrote them such a long time ago, and they were on a computer that died on me.

pinknsparkly · 31/05/2022 14:35

@BIWI and @Baystard - I don't want to touch anything in case I break it more. but the uberbootcamp tab is still populated in the spreadsheet from the pre-Christmas bootcamp from last year. It can probably be copied and pasted from that?

BIWI · 31/05/2022 14:39

Good shout @pinknsparkly. I should have thought of that! Thank you.

OK - hopefully this will work:

amended spreadsheet with ubercamp recipes and shopping lists

@BIWI when I was breastfeeding DS4 I couldn't eat eggs for 18 months as was allergic. Ever since then I haven't been able to get enough eggs although it has only been six years!

venusandmars · 31/05/2022 15:13

@Jollyholibobs when you posted about your big jugs on the table, my juvenil humour couldn't get past this.. [apologies everyone]

@pinknsparkly sulk all you like. sometimes the scales are just cruel and unfair. Go on stamp your feet as well.

@Lougle I agree re the carbs per 100g is always imprtant to look at. If I'm going to go over 5g/100 I'd like to make the choice between beetroot, or peas, or lentils. When I do go over, I try to choose food items where a) there is less processed food; b) there is less chance of me eating more. So ONE slice of schneiderbrot (like it, but really don't want more) but cocktail sausages I could keep on, and on, and on snacking...

Yesterday's itinerary went out the window, but I stayed low carb. There was a big gap between eating and going to bed, so this morning, when I got up v early to take dgc to school I stuck a biscuit in my pocket - just in case. Busy time doing reading practice and plaiting hair meant that I had neither time nor inclination to eat the biscuit and it is now safely returned to dh's snack stash.

So today is repeat of what yesterday might have been:

B - coffee, cream
L - meat loaf, salad
D - curry with halloumi and beans

venusandmars · 31/05/2022 15:27

D - curry with halloumi and beans just to clarify that is green beans (to replace the peas in the muttar paneer) it is not Heinz beans in a curry enough to put you off curry AND beans for life

CrystalTits · 31/05/2022 15:49

Hello campers. I seem to be gaining and losing the same 1kg, which is v frustrating and also entirely my own doing thanks to having chocolate in the house. I'm going to check out the uber bootcamp menu for a kickstart and to banish my returning sweet tooth.

@Lougle I wondered whether the magnesium in the electrolyte tablets might be contributing to your bowel problems? It can have a laxative effect. Just a thought.

@venusandmars Heinz beans in anything is unacceptable, IMO! Perhaps with the exception of a bath, for charideeee.

Lougle · 31/05/2022 16:36

@CrystalTits it's a thought but my issue seems to be an increase of tenesmus (I feel like I need to go but there's nothing there). It's normally accompanied by pain and bleeding, but this time it's just the tenesmus on its own.

@venusandmars I agree re carb counts, although I'm a BC virgin. I think the other thing to remember is that some foods might be high carb % but we use so little of them in cooking, that it really doesn't matter. I got hung up about my garlic early on because it's 14g/100 but the reality is that I really only use a teaspoon at a time, so as someone said 'No-one gets fat on garlic...' I suppose the main difference would be in the refined carb section, where even a little can tip the insulin response. E.g. golden syrup, sugar, maple syrup, etc.

BIWI · 31/05/2022 16:44

I love tinned Heinz curried beans.

(Not that I eat them any more, obvs)

OP posts:
BIWI · 31/05/2022 16:45

And in the interests of a full confession, I also loved Heinz tinned ravioli.

I don't eat that any more, either!

OP posts:
Lougle · 31/05/2022 17:03

I remember tinned ravioli! I think we had it when I was a teenager.

I always find the sauce in those things too sweet, tbh.

venusandmars · 31/05/2022 17:21

Tins of curried beans and ravioli - I've might have to leave in disgust.

And please, please can no-one mention tinned macaroni Envy

prettybird · 31/05/2022 17:47

@venusandmars - what about chips 'n' curry sauce? Wink

Although it's a good to ensure that I don't want a single chip Grin

Jollyholibobs · 31/05/2022 18:19

@venusandmars laughing at the jugs. 😂

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 31/05/2022 18:22

Hi all, had a good laugh at your picture @venusandmars 🤣
B: nothing - did IF
L: slow cooker coconut/ginger/chilli pork from recipes thread and cabbage. Divided it up into lunch portions and in the freezer for when I am stuck for lunch
D: frittata made with eggs, cream, goats cheese, peppers and tomatoes with shoogled sprouts. Will have this as leftovers for tomorrow's lunch
Had 2 creamy coffees and 3.5L water drank, will prob get more in before bed

Miserable eve here so might do a bit of a batch cooking session
DH made red lentil and coconut milk Dahl (daal? not sure on spelling?) for himself and kids dinner tonight and it did look and smell wonderful

Lougle · 31/05/2022 18:34

B - Greek yoghurt and raspberries
L - salmon salad
D - pork belly with roasted veg

Fluids: 2 X 750 ml electrolyte water, 1 X 750ml plain water, 6 cups tea.

Lougle · 31/05/2022 18:36

When I was a teenager, my favourite breakfast was a golden syrup suet pudding. 1½ minutes in the microwave was all it took. Didn't touch the sides then. How times change!
