Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp '22 - we're half way through!

Morning all

So this marks the half way point.

Hopefully by now you're adjusting to a low carb WOE. I hope, very much, that you're enjoying your food and you're not feeling deprived in any way.

Carb flu should be way behind us.

And now, now that we've got past the infamous weeks 3 & 4, weight loss should continue, in a slow and steady way.

This week's challenge

We have four weeks left, and the key to success is not only KOKO but also enjoying our food. So this week's challenge is to post a low carb recipe that you think that others will really enjoy

Good luck to us all

I should be able to meet that challenge Grin

venusandmars · 13/02/2022 23:20

Marking my place. I've got an extremely busy day tomorrow, a planned event in the afternoon, and a sudden unexpected one in the morning.

Got a friend coming to stay for a couple of days midweek so have to sort out food and shopping, and the cleaner comes first thing on Monday, so I'll have to be up early to tidy 1st world problem Grin

FrenchBoule · 14/02/2022 00:21

Marking place 🙂 recipe you say 🤔 will sleep on it

TheCurrywurstPrion · 14/02/2022 04:14

3lb off! I put a pound on last week, so now I’m 8lb down in total since the beginning. Thank you all so much for all the amazing encouragement I got last week.

Onelittlepiglet · 14/02/2022 06:35

0.9lb on this week I’m afraid Sad. I’m not feeling very well today and my tummy was a bit upset yesterday and today, so presuming it might be to do with that and I’m hanging on to water or something. The only thing I did differently this week is to have two glasses of wine on Friday. No plans to have any this week (I’m fact I’m finding it much nicer not drinking).

Will go back to basics this week and see if that helps.

cheeseisthebest · 14/02/2022 07:26

Just placemarking for now

StuntNun · 14/02/2022 07:29

For my recipe, someone linked to this Cafe de Paris butter recipe on a previous Bootcamp. It's a herb-flavoured butter and you put a slice onto a just cooked steak to make a sauce.

3lb down! After a small gain in week 4, I’m now tracking downwards with 8.5lb loss so far.

Outside of the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, I’m recording in kg, so my next target is to drop below 60kg. Had a sneaky weigh on Saturday morning and it showed I’d got there (and then some!) but ‘twas not to be.

Recipe ideas… will have a think and post later.

Spring onwards losers GrinDaffodil

Baystard · 14/02/2022 07:43

Thanks @BIWI

Just wrote a long reply and my phone lost it! My hands are too cold to retype it Grin

I've stayed exactly the same weight, to the same 50g, for the past three weeks. I suspect it is partly the 3/4 week issue but also I'm eating too many calorie dense foods. I've been eating entire avocados as a snack... Blush plus more nuts than I really should be. So I removed the avocado from my food shop this week and will be a lot more mindful about nuts. Plus make sure I get back on the water!

Good luck everyone and congratulations to all the losers!

SummerSazz · 14/02/2022 07:56

2lbs off (phew!) after some not so good results during the week! That was week 5 for me.

Just been back and looked and I could swear I had more plateaus than this. Daily weighing doesn't help with that I don't think but it does keep me straight so I just need to visit the overall picture/trend more often. 11lbs off in total. Really wanted to make a stone by 1 March so we'll see!

Wk 1 = -6
Wk 2 = 0
Wk 3 = -2
Wk 4 = -1
Wk 5 = -2

I am able to start walking a bit more on my foot and actually did 10k steps yesterday for the first time in 4 weeks. Hoping that will help move things along.

💦 💧 💦 💧 💦 💧 💦 💧

That's water btw if people can't see pictures GrinGrin

Stay on track peeps......

There's no need to remove the avocado! It's a really good low carb food. It's the nuts you should be getting rid of, as they're high in carbs.

Another half a pound off, which I'm pleased with- I've been RAVENOUS the last few days for some reason, so I've been trying really hard to keep low carb but I think I've just been eating a bit too much overall. Went to a Japanese restaurant last night, which was hard to choose something but managed to have spare ribs, yaki tori skewers and a salad- not bad but the sauces were very sweet. Will keep up the water and FLGV and hope for a better week!
On the NSVs- the whole family are now eating shoogled cabbage, DH says its a revelation. I love cabbage but never used to get it so I'm taking that as a victory!

SpottyBumPony · 14/02/2022 08:20

I had a bit of an increase this week, but last week was a ridiculous 7lb down so this is evening out.

BaconOmelette · 14/02/2022 09:57

0.6lb on for me.

Sulking a bit this morning as I thought I’d had a really good week and was starting to feel a tiny fraction skinnier.

Struggling to get enough fats in without eating loads of dairy, everything had copious amounts of cheese and cream this week. Maybe that’s where I went wrong.

Jollyholibobs · 14/02/2022 10:31

Bad week. Haven’t weighed. Have had eggs mushrooms and spinach for breakfast to see it that helps. Need to address my disordered eating. DH is WFH this week which will be better. I hate wfh and being alone all day every day. Overeat because I am bored and lonely.

Will try and make something a bit fancy for Valentine’s Day tonight. Not that needs an oven though. But I have bitten the bullet and ordered a new cooker which comes on Sunday. Will be trying @StuntNun ‘s chocolate mousse this evening

Frenchpoodle · 14/02/2022 10:38

Thanks @BIWI for the new thread. Those are brilliant numbers @SummerSazz, well done! Congrats all the other losers and KOKO to everyone who hasn't seen a loss this week, it will happen.

The scales have started going down again for me, pleased with that. I need to drink more water and eat less cheese. Covid is effecting my motivation to make my usual big salad lunch, so just grabbing the easy cheese and rolling back to bed! Have been having a healthy meal with lots of green veg in the evenings though.

Frenchpoodle · 14/02/2022 10:42

Sorry you have been feeling a bit crap @Jollyholibobs, I also eat when I am bored and lonely (but also when I am happy, celebrating, cheerful, social etc... which is part of my problem!). The Valentines meal and chocolate mousse sound lovely.

Frenchpoodle · 14/02/2022 11:10

@FrenchBoule I meant to mention, one of the nicest things to do with raw fennel is slice is finely on a mandolin, then dress it in lemon juice and olive oil - really delicious salad to go with fish (or most things really!)

TheCurrywurstPrion · 14/02/2022 11:17

Hope you feel better soon, OneLittlePiglet and JollyHollibobs.

And thanks BIWI.

Sorry if I’m the onlybone who doesn’t know, but should the recipe go in the recipes thread, or here? I had a lovely spaghetti beansprout carbonara at the weekend.

Jollyholibobs · 14/02/2022 11:18

@Frenchpoodle thanks. Yes me too but actually when I stop abusing myself with food I am happy, cheerful, social etc so it makes no sense to behave as I do.
