Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

So sorry @Angliski : that's tough 💐

Love the time capsule idea @prettybird . I did something similar when we moved out of our flat, although it was only in a plastic pocket posted through the floorboards, so is probably a rats nest by now. A little piece of us lives on there, in the form of rat poo.

Thanks @FusionChefGeoff . I know it's a lot, but this boot camp I think my net loss has been about 2lbs, so a bit disappointing. Weirdly, I'm much more in the zone now we've finished!

Glad it's Friday, but must be careful not to press the fuckit button. I keep using the 'I don't need to eat right now' mantra, & it's very effective! Was that yours @venusandmars?

Hope everyone has a great day, especially those of you on beautiful beaches ☀️

Andi2020 · 25/06/2021 11:00

Weather not great here but got a nice surprise on my friday scales that I am 145.8 and wasn't as strict as normal this week added in a bit of new fruit and had seeds every day on greek yogurt.
Kids want subway today for last day of school.

Rayna37 · 25/06/2021 15:14

Just checking in before the weekend. I think I'm lower now than I hit all bootcamp! 123.6 (and add 1lb for the old scales which read higher) and BMI of 21.9. Not sure what I'd need to do for the Renpho scales to give me a green for the "subcutaneous fat" metric but I can't see it happening! 5lbs to target; basically I'm at the top end of my maintenance zone.

Have eaten a bit of rubbish- DH works for a large purveyor of ultra processed food and received a box of all sorts yesterday. Also have a friend visiting this weekend and we're off out for Thai. Long bike ride planned too though.

venusandmars · 25/06/2021 15:40

@Angliski I'm another one who meal plans to get back in the zone. 16/8 intermittent fasting so no breakfast. After dinner the kitchen is closed. I also use a smaller plate and have smaller portions, but up the fat so I'm not hungry. If I find myself mindlessly looking in the fridge or cupboards I make a nice glass of sparkling water with ice and lemon and go somewhere away from the kitchen to drink it. By the time its finished I've forgotten that I had a grazing mindset...

B - Coffee with cream (not exactly I/F but it was 15 hours since dinner)
L - left over fish and veg topped with fried egg
D - beef rendang with courgetti, spinach and green beans

prettybird · 25/06/2021 15:52

We've just enjoyed a lovely lunch with my best friend up from Wales with her dh and her dd (our goddaughter, who has SN) it was her mum's funeral that we went down to Wales for in a Scottish-Croatian restaurant. I had a garlic prawn and chorizo salad and lots of water Grin

prettybird · 25/06/2021 15:57

Oh - and I made a batch of tablet yesterday and didn't even eat the "soft ball" test just felt it and threw it away , nor have any squares today when I was breaking it up to give bags to the 2 bathroom fitters and my best friend and her family Halo

FusionChefGeoff · 25/06/2021 16:37

@Rayna37 thats amazing!!!! You've got a very low target - I'd be very happy with that as my lowest BMI.

We are in the car en route to our weekend with friends. I have a cool box packed with lovely LC food, LC friendly menus planned and backup salads / fathead pizza ingredients.

I must remember how shitty I felt after a day off it's just not worth it!!!!!!

Creeping back down too so that's helping I think.

I will stay strong!!

venusandmars · 25/06/2021 20:59

@prettybird I was going to congratulate you on avoiding the tablet until I ate half a teaspoon of dh's raspberry cheesecake - so sweet I nearly had to spit it out. I used to love tablet, now I just enjoy the sweet vanilla scent, much the same way as I do with a beautiful candle no desire to eat the wax

Dinner tonight was so good I couldn't resist a photo... OK there are a few peas in there but it was a glorious feast of aromatic lemongrass, coconut, star anise, cloves with a heap of green veg. Dh had his on a pile of rice.

prettybird · 25/06/2021 21:13

Unfortunately I still love tablet Blush - so I can't allow myself a single piece or it would turn into lots of pieces Blush

prettybird · 25/06/2021 21:26

In other news, the bathroom fitters have now plaster boarded two and a half walls (including the void with the time capsule) and have sorted out the main pipe routes. They've managed to ensure that the tight space for the 700mm wide shower tray will work - it was always going to be really tight (the old bath had actually only fitted because the previous bathroom fitters had dig into the solid bricks between the bathroom and kitchen) - but the glass panel will "only" be half way into the door frame - with enough room for a pull cord light switch (once we re-hang the door).

MrsKoala · 25/06/2021 22:07

What on earth is tablet? It doesn’t sound particularly delicious, I’m imagining soluble disprin flavours?

venusandmars · 25/06/2021 22:39

Tablet is a massively sugary sweet treat - like fudge, but with more sugar so it is sort of crystalline

It was the stuff of Scottish children's dreams

prettybird · 25/06/2021 22:40

Tablet is a Scottish delicacy: a cross between toffee and fudge. A sort of crisp fudge or a melt in the mouth toffee. Made of 2lb of vanilla sugar, 200ml milk, a can of condensed milk Shock and 4oz of butter. The technique is quite difficult to master as it involves lots of stirring and then beating at the right stage for the right length of time - and you don't know until the end of the period (takes me 45 minutes of stirring Shock) whether it has crystallised correctly.

Not at all Boot Camp compatible Grin

venusandmars · 25/06/2021 22:42

In the words of Robert Burns: "warm, reekin', rich"

Well he actually said that about a haggis, but the description would also apply to making tablet...

MrsKoala · 26/06/2021 08:59

It sounds like an, ummmm, ‘acquired taste’. Not sure what part sounds worse - the cooking or the eating Confused 😂

cheeseisthebest · 26/06/2021 12:05

Sounds delicious!!
Can anyone point me in the direction of some reading around being stuck at a set weight and what I can do about it?
Thanks

BIWI · 26/06/2021 14:17

Yes - you need to read this book!

Essentially, following a low carb diet will do a lot for you - the other key part of this is about reducing the amount of Omega-6 we consume, in favour of upping Omega-3.

Afternoon, I've been the cemetery this morning to visit my grandparents and clean their graves, also went on the hunt for my great grandparents grave but couldn't find it! Lots of walking though, so positive!

Had Greek yoghurt for breakfast and 2 SLCRs with cheese and coleslaw for lunch, not sure what I'm having for dinner, maybe vegetable soup and a salad.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Bryonyshcmyony · 26/06/2021 18:12

Hi all. I've had a difficult couple of days with a relative who is in desperate need of rehab. It's all really upsetting. Also all three dcs are now home for the summer so the kitchen is in constant use. I've been sticking to the plan apart from yesterday I didn't drink enough water and had a few a glass of rose.
Can't remember what I ate yesterday but it was all low carb. Today I had a pile of bacon and a fried egg. Lunch: a very low carb slice of bread from that company that does the nice rolls, lots of courgettes fried in butter and some sliced halloumi. Was planning chicken thighs in a cream sauce but I'm not hungry and all dcs out to see friends so might have a slovenly fry up of corned beef, sauerkraut and cheese with mayo.

cheeseisthebest · 26/06/2021 20:24

Thanks biwi

FusionChefGeoff · 26/06/2021 23:38

Wow tablet sounds amazing!! I don't know why but I had a kind of peppermint cream in my head - perhaps I had it mixed up with Kendall mint cake?!?!

Am indulging / overeating but staying almost completely on plan in challenging circumstances so I'm really pleased. Today's day trip was a queueing / timing nightmare and lunch at the cafe was wall to wall carbs and stress. But I whipped out my preprepared emergency salad!

Then dinner was again a badly timed affair with all the local pubs booked up and even takeaways advertising 95 minute waits!! With 4 hungry small people to sort out, fish and chips was the obvious solution. So my back up fathead pizza was deployed - with surprised and admiring looks from my friends "that's a no carb pizza? Looks amazing'.

Pinched 2 chips when clearing up and had a spoon of pineapple chutney on my cheese and that's it!!

Pre lunch snack!: leftover fajita bowl as running v late so didn't want to the cafe starving as risks bad choices Smile
L: salmon and egg salad
S: hm Keto bun and cheese and olives - see above as was getting peckish, were about to talk about food and I saw danger!
D: fathead pizza with tuna, olives, veg
Raspberries and cream, dark choc
S: cheeseboard

Thanks for this, I made the diet doctor one yesterday and it was so nice. Will try it without the nuts next time

Rayna37 · 27/06/2021 07:35

Fusion Thanks, I apparently have a VERY small frame so the lower BMI works for me, I carry a good bit of wobble (hence the high subcutaneous fat reading on the Renpho scales). Not looking gaunt in the face at all which I know can be an issue for some at lower BMIs but we'll see how it goes as I get more middle aged. I'm not even a completely consistent size 10 despite 2021 vanity sizing.

I have a friend staying who just had some physio or similar and was told one of her issues was "normal for middle age" (we're 41) from a seemingly 12 year old. Depressing rude.

Way off plan this weekend- far too much wine on Friday led to an extraordinary hangover then all kinds of carbs yesterday including bacon and egg rolls while out cycling and a lovely Thai meal. Back on it today.

Not sure I've ever had tablet but confident I would like it!! If only I could lose my taste for cake and such like.

Rayna37 · 27/06/2021 07:39

Just saved that fathead pizza recipe, may try on a week off we have coming up. I LOVE pizza.

Rayna37 · 27/06/2021 08:07

5lbs on in 2 days!! Don't do it kids.
