Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

Congratulations to everyone on their weight losses. And, MrsKoala, lolol at "Why won’t my bum just piss off?". I'm sure you would miss it if it did.Grin

Well, I climbed Scafell Pike yesterday, the highest peak in England, and gained a kilo.AngryAngryAngry
I did eat some carbs. Stayed at a youth hostel and the least worst option was cottage pie. And it is technically illegal not to drink beer after hiking so there was that.
I've cheekily used Friday's weigh in as my bootcamp final weight, so this post is kind of an IOU: I vow to lose the post-Scafell-Pike rogue kilo to make my final recorded weight retrospectively accurate.

MrsKoala · 21/06/2021 18:03

@Oneborneverydecade it went really well thanks (although I was bloody freezing in a t-shirt dress and bare legs as we were sat outside all day - west London was a lot colder than Kent!). The person who was particularly unpleasant didn’t come, my ex and all the challenging people stopped by briefly and we all got on fine and then I chatted the day away reminiscing with old friends and ended up crashing over. Had to sleep in my dress and travel back with yesterday’s makeup on feeling a bit ‘tired’ but it was totally worth it. I’m so glad I went - thanks for asking.

Oh and the waist is a gift and a curse - it’s so hard to find clothes which fit all over and I’d happily trade a couple of inches with my arse! It’s just never in proportion. I shan’t moan though, I’m happy with it all at the mo.

Thanks everyone for all your efforts and support. The thread really keeps me motivated.

ZiggZagg · 21/06/2021 18:07

Evening campers, well done to everyone on your losses, some fantastic achievements there!

Today is my day one of the first 2 weeks bootcamp. I've added my weight 219lbs which means I gained 14lbs since my dad died.

I've had a word with myself and had egg salad for lunch and just now tucking in to steak with cheesy celeriac chips 😋

Have also drank most of my water with some to go!

I just wanted to say thank you for listening and sending best wishes (and welcoming me back several times this bootcamp!) I'm determined to get this weight off now, back into the frame of mind 🤞🏼

ElasticFirecracker · 21/06/2021 18:28

Hello everyone.

My final week of this boot camp is 2lbs. This gives my boot camp loss as 10.9 lbs.

My weight was going up every time I weighed myself, and when I started I was 76.5kg. I'm now 71.6kg.

I had set my goal weight at 68kg, but 64kg is really my ideal weight which I had considered to be unattainable. I'm going to carry on with this, and will jump on the next boot camp whenever it is.

I've really improved my attitude to food and am taking a greater interest in cooking. I had kohl Rabi slaw for the first time yesterday which was delicious.

Thank you all!

venusandmars · 21/06/2021 18:58

Well done to everyone for some lovely consistent losses - whether that was achieved by slow steady adherence to the rules, remembering to drink the water, or CurvyKoala's 15 vodka weight loss trick Grin

And for those who have more to do, well done on your motivation to stick around.

I'm away and can't weigh, but I doubt it will be good. Hotel breakfast, so no intermittent fasting, and a few glasses of wine with dsis.
B - fried egg, tomato, mushroom, bacon (but I didn't eat it becuse despite my very specific instructions they did not make it crispy. I think they rubbed it round a lukewarm frying pan and then served it. Yuk, wibbly wobbly yuk
L - amazing Italian, real authentic properly cooked food (not stuff out of the freezer): garlic stuffed mushrooms, then the most amazing scampi Provençal (without rice) and a salad. Wine
D - a picnic of all M&S's best delights: artichokes, roasted peppers, meats, cheese, serano crisps... Wine

But I swam for 30 minutes this morning in the lovely spa pool, and have walked 27,000 steps (so far!)

pangolinfan · 21/06/2021 19:40

Many thanks to @BIWI and to all the regular and super knowledgeable posters on the bootcamp threads. The recipe threads are also an amazing resource. As a returner from five years ago I am thrilled to have lost 16lbs during bootcamp, plus another 8 since I started just before on 1 April, going from borderline obese (BMI 29.5) to a nearly healthy BMI (25.5) in under three months. Best of all, at 57 I feel in control of what I eat and when I eat for the first time in years. Will be sticking with the Bootcamp WOE until I am well within a healthy BMI (another stone, to provide a buffer zone) so in it for the long haul. Hoping others will carry on posting, as I find this group so supportive and full of fun. Thank you all.

Andi2020 · 21/06/2021 20:00

@Mrskoala glad you event went well.
You sound like you had a good time brings back teenage memories sleeping in clothes and same makeup. Lucky you still losing weight on 15 vodkas Grin
@ZiggZagg keep up this woe and you will loose the 14lb I averaged about 1.5 per week and lost I think 16 overall in this bootcamp and hopefully will continue most of the good habits
@venusandmars breakfast does sound yuk enjoy your break

BIWI · 21/06/2021 21:04

@Oneborneverydecade I have to confess that I've given up on the running. I really, really don't like it! And I'm back at the gym now, so am doing something. The weather was a part of it - always an excuse not go to - raining or too hot!

OP posts:
BSky · 21/06/2021 23:38

Congratulations on all the loses.

Well done @ditavonteesed - great you hit your BMI goal 👏

@nowlook - you look fab in both pics but definitely slimmer in second pic. Also very radiant.

🤣 ^why won’t my bum just piss off^ - love that. Your measurements are amazing.

@MrsKoala - glad to hear your event went well & that you got to spend some nice time with old friends.

My final weigh in will be on Friday. As of this morning I’ve lost 10lbs this BC & 19 since January BC. Feeling good & healthy & really pleased to have shifted my BMI firmly into healthy range. Want to lose a few more lbs to give me some leeway. Determined to maintain this time & get a grip before the scales raise & the clothes tighten!

Thanks to everyone for support, insights into food & mood, fun threads about bathrooms, flowers, sharing recipes & just helping to KOKO. Big thanks to @BIWI & others for their expertise & input.

Def interested to keep on the thread to stay motivated to lose those last few pounds & to keep up this woe.

Bryonyshcmyony · 22/06/2021 08:00

I hope noone minds me posting here even though I'm only four weeks in. Scales at 12.11 and a half this am so although a tiny shift, I am beginning to move away from 12.12. Wednesday is my "official" weigh in day.

I've stopped doing couch to 5k because it's too wet and muddy now. I'm very much a fair weather runner/jogger/granny shuffler.

Dd3 finishes school on Friday and dd1 is coming back from uni for the summer so from next week I'll have 3 x teenage/adult girls/women in the house. Always quite a strain on the food budget and willpower as there's usually a lot of snack food - biscuits and crisps. We live very rurally so they can't just nip out and buy what they fancy which means we have to buy stuff in one big shop once a week. Makes dieting/eating differently quite hard. I've told them all what I'm doing though and that I need to get into the 11 stone bracket so I can have riding lessons and they are very supportive.

BSky · 22/06/2021 09:07

@BIWI and @Bryonyshcmyony I struggled with couch25k too - achieved it, hurt my back & stick to walking now!

@Bryonyschcmyony - Celebrate those small losses and good luck with your weigh in tomorrow. Love your reason for weight loss. Good luck avoiding those snacks & managing all those female hormones!

BIWI · 22/06/2021 09:17

Of course you can keep posting here @Bryonyshcmyony! You're one of us now Grin

OP posts:
cheeseisthebest · 22/06/2021 10:02

You are definitely one of us!
This feels a bit like Oscar's acceptance speeches!
I've learnt so much since I started this in Jan. About why I eat, what I eat, emotional, boredom eating, the impact it has on me, I've changed my views and attitude but its very much an ongoing battle for me against my sweet tooth!

Bryonyshcmyony · 22/06/2021 11:21

Thank you! It's all very inspiring!

Was trying to go until 12 but I was starving, so just had 2 chicken sausages, a handful of lardons, a handful of spinach and two eggs, all fried in olive oil and butter. That'll do me until about 4,when I'll probably have a small tuna salad. Chicken curry tonight made with lots of cream and cauli rice for me.

I've even made dd2 some banana bread and will not be having any of it!

ditavonteesed · 22/06/2021 19:56

@Bryonyshcmyony what a fabulous reason to lose weight, I used to ride when I was younger, sometimes I really miss it. You are definitely one of us now.

ZiggZagg · 22/06/2021 20:11

Oh I'd love to ride a horse! Too scared (and fat) though Blush

Good second day, lunch was chicken satay skewers, eggs and salad. Dinner was steak, celeriac chips with mushrooms in a cream cheese sauce. I'm stuffed now!

I have a fabulous training day tomorrow, Harmful Practices which should be very interesting and informative!

Lunch will be more boiled eggs in mayo on lettuce.

Dinner will be steak with garlic mushrooms and cauliflower mash.

Have a great evening all!

FusionChefGeoff · 22/06/2021 20:50

Hello! I'm feeling very 'meh' as my day off at the weekend has left me 5lb up (expected and I know it's all glycogen / water but still harsh) and it's not shifting yet. It's also left me hungrier and emotional eating has reappeared and I've binged Sad. All LC but still not healthy mindful eating.

I was better today but carried on eating after dinner when I should have drank water / left the kitchen instead.

We're away again this weekend but I feel so shitty (physically lethargic and emotionally low) that I'm hoping that's enough motivation not to want to go off plan again.

So I am definitely staying on the thread for accountability and to try to keep working on the emotional side.

L: gorgeous and healthy hot smoked salmon salad with homemade coleslaw and boiled egg
D: gorgeous and healthy red Thai chicken curry (paste from local health food shop not full of sugar and nasties) with stir fried veg and cauliflower rice

Then 2 boiled eggs with hm Mayo and 2 slices of cheese with Mayo for no apparent reason!

Lots of water, herbal tea and black coffee.

Am also back on IF after a snacky evening yesterday.

Bring on tomorrow!!!

venusandmars · 22/06/2021 23:23

Still on holiday with dsis, so another relaxed day of hotel breakfast, swim, day out, dinner. Another 27,000 steps clocked up! And another 10 hours spent talking about all the things we've not been able to talk about for a year. Dsis and I have spoken on the phone more frequently than before but I think there has been a lot of the mundane "I'm just on my way to Tesco" or "What are you having for dinner?". Plus truncated versions of big family events - new babies, houses bought or sold, relationships developing or crashing - without the time spent sitting down with each other and sharing what we really feel about these things. It has be so good to talk - properly.

Being in a different city has been interesting, particularly finding suitable food options. It seems that lots of places (either post covid or post brexit) are opening reduced hours and serving reduced menus. In practice that means the options are high carb (and high fat). Today we went to a lovely (big) garden attraction with a huge walled garden. One of the noted seasonal highlights was the summer veg harvest. There were rows of radishes, peas, leeks, lettuce, melon, courgette, all kinds of herbs. The restaurant was closed (for the foreseeable) the cafe had lentil soup, and 4 types of sandwiches, plus about 16 different cake options. Not a salad or home grown vegetable in sight. So disappointing. Then there was a 'tuck shop' selling sweets, fizzy drinks and ice cream. I felt quite despairing that the offerings were so poor - it must be driven by consumer demand.

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/06/2021 07:07

venusandmars that sounds so lovely (the break not the food options), how amazing to have such a great trip with your dsis.

12.13 this morning. Officially miserable.

Andi2020 · 23/06/2021 08:04

@Bryonyshcmyony just keep going and will eventually go down. Drink extra water if you feel hungry.
Going for lunch today with a friend haven't seen since before March 20 lockdown but we message every couple of days. Probably be a bit carby but will start again after the lunch.
Bought patio set yesterday for sun and of course its raining today.Grin

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/06/2021 08:12

Will it though? I'm feeling so bloody demotivated.

Yesterday I had
Chicken sausages, spinach, eggs and bacon fried in butter

A Greek yogurt with 6 blueberries

Stir fried cabbage, courgette, broccoli and spinach with tofu and a fried egg on top

A diet coke

A piece of cheese at some point.
4 x instant coffee with almond milk
2l water

BIWI · 23/06/2021 08:54

@Bryonyshcmyony this is the point at which I bring out The Big Stick.

First, as I have reminded you twice now - you are in the weeks 3/4 Doldrums. Little/no weight loss, sometimes an increase, is quite normal for this stage of the WOE. You know it works, because you lost half a stone in the first two weeks!

Second, where is the extra litre of water you should be drinking?

Third, where is the fat? I doubt, very much, that chicken sausages will have much fat in them - plus, unless you made them yourself, they count as processed food - which we're trying to avoid. Ditto tofu. Stir-fries, too, generally tend to use only a little fat - and yours sounds like it was mainly veg which will have been low fat too.

Third - protein. I see you've been adding an egg, which is fine, but tofu is low in protein compared to, say, chicken. And I'd be surprised if there was much protein in your chicken sausages. (Did you check the ingredients and nutritional info on those?)

Fourth - although we allow artificial sweeteners in Bootcamp Light (i.e. from week 3 onwards) it's much better to avoid them, so I'd knock the Diet Coke on the head.

You need to be patient. If you can't cope with daily weighing, and it sounds like you can't, then make your weigh-in once a week. Your body weight will fluctuate quite naturally on a day-to-day basis, even if you're being really strict.

BIWI · 23/06/2021 08:57

FYI - and anyone else interested - this is the ingredients list for Heck Simply Chicken chipolatas:

British Chicken (85%), Water, Pea Flour, Seasoning (Low Sodium Sea Salt, Rice Flour, Sugar, Dried Leek, Preservative (Sodium Sulphite), Spice, Yeast Extract, Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid), Natural Flavouring, Spice Extracts, Herb Extract), Citrus Fibre, Filled into Calcium Alginate Casing

And the nutrients:

Table of Nutritional Information

Per 100g (grilled) Per 2 chipolatas (58g) (grilled)
Energy 737 kJ/176 kcal 427 kJ/102 kcal
Fat 6.3g 3.6g
of which saturates 1.6g 0.9g
Carbohydrate 3.7g 2.2g
of which sugars 0.7g 0.4g
Protein 25g 15g
Salt 1.7g 1g

So they are a good protein source after all - but they're also low in fat

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/06/2021 09:01

Thank you BIWI. I thinm the last time I had a diet coke was years ago. Dd bought it for me as she'd heard they had no carbs so I'm blaming her Grin it was disgusting anyway.

I drink 4 mugs of coffee a day so was assuming that was included in the water total but can definitely improve.

I will hide the scales until next week although I will find that hard.

ZiggZagg · 23/06/2021 09:04

@Bryonyshcmyony BIWIs big stick comes from a place of love and experience. I lost 21lbs in my first bootcamp, although I did have a lot more to lose than you. Patience is the key, weight loss isn't linear and you will go up and down however as time moves on the downward trajectory is there. Keep on keeping on and you will see results!
