Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh in (but ongoing chat thread)

Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

Thank you. Just worried that I'm somehow doing it wrong.

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 23/06/2021 09:16

Hello! Haven't checked in since the first couple of threads as couldn't keep up. But I'm still here Smile

Weighed in at 13st 5lb, down 23 pounds this BC. Just tipped over into the overweight rather than obese category on BMI! Still got to keep going though, I need to get back to my pre pregnancy weight of 11 stone at least. Going back to work mid August so hopefully I will drop a bit more before then. I've been making loads of interesting (and sometimes high carb) things for my baby for weaning and not tried much of it... my DH is enjoying being a taste tester Grin

Thanks to @BIWI and all bootcampers Flowers - even if I haven't been on the thread I often have a look for motivation. It's very inspiring and congrats to everyone for their losses or ability to maintain. I'll be here for the next BC Smile

EarlGreyHot · 23/06/2021 09:21

Hopped on the scales this morning and there's another 1lb off since Monday. Think I'll amend the spreadsheet of fabulousness accordingly as it's my lowest weight in about 8 years Grin Definitely a lesson in koko if one were needed!

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 23/06/2021 09:21

@Bryonyshcmyony I would definitely agree with ditching the everyday weighing - I itch to check but it's much more satisfying to check once a week so you don't see those fluctuations. You are just in a plateau - you'll get out of it soon, even if it feels like forever and nothing is happening Smile

BIWI · 23/06/2021 09:27

Well ...

I have pointed out where you can 'tweak' things!!!

Good morning!

Been awol, as I've been a bit meh about my slow weight loss.

I've just caught up with the thread, & really enjoyed reading everyone's insights. Some amazing losses, & one amazing beach!!

I've lost 15lbs since Jan, which is better than nothing I suppose. I know why, though: dark chocolate & peanut butter. It's too nice.

I'm doing strict boot camp Mon-Thurs now, & have immediately lost another pound.

Thanks @BIWI , @prettybird , @venusandmars , @Athelstanetheunready , @StuntNun & everyone else who contributes to these valuable, inspiring threads x

prettybird · 23/06/2021 11:09

@Bryonyshcmyony - iirc, you're allowed to count just two of your teas/coffees towards your water allocation - or is it just 200ml?

So get glugging down that water! Grin

If it helps, herb teas like rooibos, mint or lemon and ginger, as well as the fruit ones, count toward your water Smile. Some people like to make up fruit tea and leave it to cool to drink as flavoured water.

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/06/2021 16:48

Right. Scales are in the cupboard.

I've drunk 2.5l of water

Eaten a three egg omelette with spinach mushrooms and cheese for lunch. Cooked pork belly for tomorrow but it smelled amazing so I ate a slice.

I feel slightly sick but chicken with spices and cream and cauli rice tonight.

Pleaseandthankyou · 23/06/2021 18:49

@venusandmars I’ve been away too for few days. First time in a hotel for over a year. The hotel has only just reopened. Only one of the 3 restaurants was open and all the mains were pasta based. The food was superb but I haven’t eaten pasta in 6 months. That combined with bread and alcohol has left me feeling bloated and lethargic. I won’t be weighing for the near future. Another weekend away coming up.

Oneborneverydecade · 23/06/2021 20:42

Well done @BlueLilyLilyBlue great result!

We're also away this weekend. We're staying in a Premier Inn and so I plan to fill up on full english first thing - IF will have to take a back seat for a few days.

I went for another job interview today. This time with a startup who sell bulletproof coffee sachets and smoothie bowl sachets. The smoothie bowls are advertised as keto friendly but they're 15g carbs before you mix them with yoghurt?! He gave me some samples and one of the flavours is really unpleasant. I'm pleased we both agreed the job wasn't for me tbh

I've been eating chia seed pudding thanks to @Bryonyshcmyony yum!

FusionChefGeoff · 23/06/2021 21:09

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch 15lbs is loads?!?!!!!!

Well done everyone.

I finally feel back on a more stable emotional keel and have eaten well and mindfully today. Also had loads of water and herbal tea. TBH I generally smash my relatively low (compared to some!) water target by lunchtime as I've got a really good system so stopped measuring a while back.

I am feeling confident about my weekend away. We had a meal planning call with the others yesterday and all is great apart from a maybe danger meal one lunchtime "we'll just grab something when we're out" so I'm taking a back up salmon & egg salad Grin

There's also takeaway one night but again I'm taking ingredients for a fathead pizza 👍👍

If I have time, I will make and take a batch of Keto rolls or the cheese almond scones so I'm fully prepared with some extra special treats.

L: BBQ halloumi and veg skewers on salad tonnes of hm dressing and oil
S: buttery egg, celery and peanut butter
D: leftover Thai curry, veg stir fry and cauli rice

Bryonyshcmyony · 24/06/2021 09:13

I've been eating chia seed pudding thanks to @Bryonyshcmyony yum!

Glad to be of service. I could eat it every day its so good. But I'm being super strict so restricting to once a week only if feeling deprived.

Desperate to weigh but have hidden scales so will be strong.

I'm making chilli tonight, two different types, one without kidney beans and with fatty mince. Dd3 will be delighted as she likes chili but spends a good 5 minutes picking out the beans first.

BIWI · 24/06/2021 09:42

I put extra mushrooms in if I'm leaving out the beans, @Bryonyshcmyony. In fact, I think that's what we're going to have tonight, now you've reminded me!

Good shout I'll fry some separately and add to mine
ouchmyfeet · 24/06/2021 11:00

What recipe do you use for your fathead pizza dough @FusionChefGeoff ? I have been meaning to try one of these for ages but get confused every time I try to find a recipe.

I think an attempt at cauliflower pizza years ago has scarred me for life!

FusionChefGeoff · 24/06/2021 12:16

I@ouchmyfeet ive got two - 1 strict and 1 less so:

Strict:

Nicer but has almonds: www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/fat-head-pizza

Any advice for eating here please @BIWI ? We're visiting vegan friends with our kids so choices are limited

Err ...

Nope! You could go for one of the burgers without the bun I suppose. But there's bugger all else there that's low carb.

Do you have to go there?!

That looks amazing!

Surely you're best off with a burger without the bun?

Sorry, x-post with @BIWI Smile

prettybird · 24/06/2021 12:49

Bathroom is now underway - this is what it was like last night after their first day's work. The dining room is full of all the supplies: including the bath from the display at the plumbers’ merchant as delivery of the one on order had been delayed until August Shock, so we made them hold good to the commitment to let us have the display one.

I've made up a wee time capsule to put into the void from the bathroom above the hall cupboard, with various photos of dh, ds and me (including my "Swishy" hair one just after my cut 'n' colour), the cats, the old bathroom, the design of the new bathroom, the garden, a copy of the June Good Housekeeping and a wee note describing who we are, as well as some other bits 'n' bobs. Who knows when it will be re-discovered - if ever! Grin

I did an extended fast earlier in the week and have managed to get back "in the zone" and drinking plenty of water. It's also helped stabilise my weight at 11st 5lb, so I'm hoping that the scales will soon be moving downward again.

Oneborneverydecade · 24/06/2021 13:31

DH did ask for other options but apparently it's mostly old fashioned pubs who frown at small children. Which is weird because I thought we were going to Somerset not 1978
Depending on hunger levels I might look out for a Pret and eat a preemptive salad.
Thank you @BIWI and @nowlook

Oneborneverydecade · 24/06/2021 13:33

Love the time capsule idea @prettybird

We're so similar in weight that whenever you talk if losing I feel under pressure ha

BestIsWest · 24/06/2021 13:38

What a lovely idea to do a time capsule @prettybird.

I’m having to isolate for 7 days as instructed by the NHS app. No idea where I’ve been in contact with anyone as I’ve only been to Tesco once and Aberglasney which was all outdoors in the last week.
It’s a royal pain since I care for DM. My DB has had to cancel his weekend away which makes me feel really guilty.

Foodwise I have upped the fat level and cut out the nuts and seeds since I think I’m stalling a bit. Upped the water too although I’ve been pretty good at that so far. Just had a delicious lunch of roast chicken and salad with lots of olive oil.

BIWI · 24/06/2021 13:39

Not according to tripadvisor @Oneborneverydecade - plenty to choose from that's child and vegan-friendly!
