Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

Thank you!

I gained a pound last week, no idea why as I haven't wavered from the rules. The scales are going back down but it's my youngest daughter's birthday so I may have a small piece of cake. The rest will be parceled up for her friends to remove temptation!
I think I need to look at my portion sizes. I probably just eat too much.

prettybird · 29/07/2021 08:30

Remind us again what week you are on @KateF ? I recall that you started "late" but can't remember when.

Sometimes, weight does just fluctuate naturally a pound or two. Are you drinking all the water? Are you close to target? And most importantly, how is your body ? Sometimes you can stay the same/increase slightly but still be losing inches.

And as BIWI will no doubt come on to say, list us out your meals for the last few days so that we can see if there is anything that jumps out as needing tweaked.

Bryonyshcmyony · 29/07/2021 08:32

Gaining a pound is fine particularly if you are in week 3/4/5. Don't eat the cake.

Don't eat the cake!

That way you're guaranteed to see a gain.

It's not even your birthday - and no-one actually needs cake ...

I've definitely stalled. Still at 12.8 and was 12.8 on July 2nd. I think it's alcohol. Going to try very hard to knock it on the head (only drink at weekends but usually a bottle of wine over the weekend plus a large gin and tonic).

FusionChefGeoff · 29/07/2021 09:26

@KateF I go up and down within about 3 lbs for no apparent reason all the time!! So it might not be a gain at all.

BIWI · 29/07/2021 10:04

@Bryonyshcmyony you haven't stalled though - you've already identified what you're doing that's impeding weight loss!

I know it's a bummer, if a moderate amount of alcohol is stopping you losing, but this is what's happening - it's not really a stall.

Thanks BIWI. I don't feel too worried about it. I am finding it hard to drink all the water as well, some days I do some days I dont. I need to put a pint glass by my bed so I can drink it first thing.

Dh keeps recycling the plastic 2l bottle that I leave on the side to measure out my water for the day - must remember to tell him to stop doing it!!

KateF · 29/07/2021 14:53

prettybird I'm on week 5, have a lot to lose and am drinking at least 3l water a day.
Yesterday I ate
B 2 sausages, hard boiled egg
L chicken mayo salad
Snack 2 slices cheese, hard boiled egg
D children and green veg in cream and Philadelphia sauce

Today
B as yesterday
L 'green soup' ( leftover veg plus stockpot and some cream), 2 slices ham and egg mayo
D will be as yesterday's lunch

Every day I have three cups of tea with a little unsweetened almond milk

I hear you all-I won't eat the cake!!

KateF · 29/07/2021 14:54

I really should preview, I ate chicken not children!

prettybird · 29/07/2021 15:11

@KateF - if you're only in Week 5, you're still in the notorious Week 3/4/5 period where weight loss almost always stalls and can even increase.

You just need to KOKO and trust the process.

It's also why we encourage taking measurements so strongly as often they continue to decrease during this period Smile

@KateF there's not really much veg going on in your diet - and also processed stuff too (sausages, ham, Philadelphia)

Are you eating plenty of fat? Chicken is quite a lean meat - unless you're using chicken thighs and also eating the skin. Are you adding an oily dressing to your salad as well as the mayo? Are you frying the veg for your soup?

The other thing to consider is where your carbs are coming from - do you know the carb count of the sausages? Have you checked the carbs in your mayo? Also beware that Philadelphia isn't carb-free, like hard cheese are.

It could also be that you're sensitive to dairy - although it's a bit hard to be really definitive, based on only two days' worth of meals.

However, as @prettybird says, weeks 3-5 are often difficult weeks to navigate, no matter how much you have to lose!

Why don't you post each day's food here, so we can see if there's anything else you could tweak?

OP posts:
KateF · 29/07/2021 16:23

Sausages 2g carbs, mayo 3.7g, Philadelphia 5.3g

I do eat chicken thighs plus skin. I also eat belly pork and salmon but other meat is beyond my budget. I shop in Aldi with a budget of £50/week.

I'll remember to add oil as well às mayo to salad and cut out the Philadelphia. My green veg is broccoli, green beans, leeks, kale, spinach. I also have mushrooms both cooked and raw. I'll try to up the water intake too but I'm at work ten hours a day with very limited access to the loo.

I'm not going to give up. I have to lose this weight so any advice welcome!

prettybird · 29/07/2021 22:00

Finished - although we haven't actually been able to have a bath or shower yet as he's asked us to leave it 48 hours to allow the sealant to cure (so tomorrow night Smile). But at least we no longer have to go upstairs to the loo or to wash our hands Grin

Some slight snagging to do - including replacing the glass pane on the window (apparently both of them will have to be replaced) after the bathroom fitter cracked it while taking off the window surround. Only problem is that even glazing is in short supply Shock We've also to organise getting a roller blind for the window.

Quite a difference....Shock

It's only taken us 22 years to do this Blush

Red runner was a temporary floor covering ("stolen" from the hall when we had to lift the bathroom tiles when the central heating was going in) and we put in a cheap radiator to replace the old one which up by the basin).

Morning. Forgot to weigh this morning. Very very hungry this morning! Have drunk a litre of water and had my electrolytes and a couple of coffees with almond milk. Just trying to decide what to eat. Don't fancy eggs. Making a bean free chili for tonight.

venusandmars · 30/07/2021 13:24

Oh wow!! @prettybird that looks so opulent and elegant. You must be delighted.

Just returned from 3 amazing days with family for my birthday. Very relaxed, including a wonderful dinner catered by a chef.

Fortunately dh is heading off for 2 weeks so I've got the weekend to get myself back in the zone for bootcamp on Monday.

BIWI · 30/07/2021 14:17

Happy birthday @venusandmars! Glad you had a great time Flowers

That bathroom is gorgeous!

Looking forward to the mini bootcamp, I completed my first one this year, but then had a bit of a stressful time and fell off the low carb wagon.

I just did my shop for the next bootcamp and happily bypassed all the breads, cereal, pasta aisles. So excited to be getting back into it!

prettybird · 30/07/2021 17:19

Happy belated birthday @venusandmars Thanks Sounds like you had a fabulous time - and you now get some peace and quiet to enjoy on your own, which can also be lovely Wink

"Opulent and elegant": that's a good way of describing the feel of the bathroom that I was trying to achieve Smile You lot also helped with some of the detail - like not trying to squeeze in the wider vanity unit (and the 605mm wide one we got is plenty wide enough) and not putting up white shelving as matching blue shelving would "recede" into the walls better (although we ended up going even further and doing them as dookets rather than shelves). So thank you Boot Campers Thanks

The double-ended bath is going to be "christened" tonight with a luxurious bubble bath and a bottle of Taittinger that I was given by a neighbour for my 60th Smile

My scales are now positioned under the wall hung vanity unit: I'm not going to step on them until Monday for the start of the mini Boot Camp Blush

At least now that the bathroom is pretty much finished, I can get back to exercising (I've not wanted to do much - except the twice weekly women's rugby training - because I can't have a shower afterwards and the bath in the spare bathroom upstairs is pretty grotty too) and to getting into the Boot Camp "zone". Smile
