@Oneborneverydecade I favour indie alternatives because they will usually adapt - take off the muffin, add a side of salmon, give me cream in my coffee etc. Well done you for getting into a new job, hope it all goes well.
@Stokey for me maintenance is more deliberate. So a (perhaps weekly) planned meal that includes lentils, beans, hummus or roast potato, or something else that I enjoy. That allows me to choose not to have mashed potato tonight because I know I will have some on Thursday, or to avoid beans in my chilli because my preferred carb meal is puy lentils on Saturday... (obviously not both of those in the same week)
Then the rest of the time I try to be on a balance between boot camp strict and bootcamp lite. But - with the exception of GREAT EVENTS - I would try to avoid 3 days of small discretions, that doesn't work well for me either in terms of the physical or psychological impact. I get far too easily into the "one potato won't hurt" mindset. But when it's combined with the rest of the high fat stuff and the other indiscretions , it does.
Maintenance can be tricky to learn / experiment with, but once you have, it's not so hard to maintain. And as BIWI says, you know what you can do (bootcamp strict) to readjust when you need to.
