Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

@KateF I need to lose 100lb so I'll be here forever! you do realise that this is a bit like Hotel California, you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave Grin Grin

But actually being here forever is good. This is not a fad 'diet' that you follow for 6 weeks, this is a long term, healthy, way of living and eating.

venusandmars · 13/07/2021 22:27

@FusionChefGeoff I was the sailing person - we had tinned ratatouille with corned beef (and tinned potatoes for the carbos)

I like John West tuna infusions with salad or veg, and added mayo.

venusandmars · 13/07/2021 22:35

@FusionChefGeoff I make the cheese and almond muffins, and then spread them with butter and peanut butter.

If you can't eat almond I'm sure you can blend some FODMAP acceptable nuts instead. Can you eat eggs? And choose a hard cheese that you can tolerate.

As above - the muffins are carb and fat dense. Add a nut butter and you will feel full and satiated.

Then you can have a veg soup or other veg recipe.

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2021 22:37

Ahhh thanks @venusandmars the ratatouille is a blooming marvellous idea if it wasn't for this sodding FODMAP curve ball as it's got onions in it. I like to make things even more difficult for myself apparently Hmm.

I will be able to take some veg / salad just not a lot abs it wont last long. I'm thinking cucumbers and radishes travel and last well + olive and feta pot = Greek salad ish. Toms may get squashed but worth a try and a round lettuce could do me day 1 and 2 if it's not too hot! Sugar snap peas should be ok too.

I've also just purchased a silicone foldable lunchbox to help with the eating Smile

Love the spoon suggestion - keeping it simple Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2021 22:38

Oh I didn't think about grinding other nuts!!

Almonds are out - but apparently Brazil nuts and macademia nuts are ok so I could try that for some muffins. Yes - eggs ok and hard cheese.

Great idea thanks!!!

Hello all. I was just wondering how often the bootcamp resurrects?

I feel I am slipping a lot at the moment. But my weight is more-or-less maintaining. So I've decided not to berate myself but to deliberately embrace a certain slackness and a maintenance goal, with a view to blasting back onto the full regime when a new bootcamp starts.

I thought that kind of 'interval training' approach alternating the steady jog of maintenance with the stretch challenges of rigorous low carb might be more psychologically constructive than constantly aiming high (and frequently failing).

Hope you are all doing well, both with your eating, and with gardens, health, family, pets, travel and all the other sundries of discussion!

@prettybird I love the tiles. Herringbone is very on trend and is good in a small room as it leads the eye up rather than sideways. It makes the most of Victorian higher ceilings I think. And the colour is gorgeous. You are very in trend!

I’d use this wallpaper with it and bright pink towels and accessories- but that’s because I’m all about the drama!

Still no sorting or decluttering done as dd is home with an ear infection- I held her all night while she whimpered and stroked my tummy and boobs (really not conducive to sleep). Now I’m fighting the false feelings of hunger which I know are simply tiredness and I’m not looking at the bread bin at all.

Great tips on food when out. I’m going to email Legoland to check whether dinner is still buffet style. Because otherwise it’s a plate full of cheap filler for dinner.

prettybird · 14/07/2021 09:28

We're still planning on the navy blue walls - but possibly a green (similar to the tiles) in the 3 dookets (and maybe the ceiling?). I was waiting until the tiles were up to confirm the paint colour.

Tiles behind the bath, up to the window, and above the sink, will be the same emerald green herringbone.

Grout is to be a mid grey.

I'm going to get some green hand towels but the rest of our towels are white.

I'm so looking forward to it being finished as I've stopped doing exercise (except for rugby training) until I can have a shower afterwards. I know exercise isn't part of Boot Camp per se but it helps my mindset.

MrsKoala · 14/07/2021 09:33

All sounds so gorgeous. I’m excited about it too! Since we can’t get on with the work on our house I’m getting my fix through you. I hope everyone else is drawing straws about whose renovating/decorating next to keep me going?!

Agree about exercise, I haven’t done any for over a week now and I am feeling demotivated. I must try to do some during the holidays otherwise it’s a long 6 weeks of gradually feeling blurgh and lethargic.

BIWI · 14/07/2021 10:41

@Random789 I don't know when the next one will be - TBH I feel a bit Bootcamped out as I've done more this year than I usually do!

That said, it's most likely to start in October, in the run up to Christmas.

@KateF the important thing is you have started. Keep posting on here to keep yourself accountable.

BestIsWest · 14/07/2021 12:26

How’s the isolation @BIWI? I had to isolate a couple of weeks ago. About 4 days in DH said ‘you’re enjoying this aren’t you?’ I must admit it was quite restful not having to rush about and take care of DMs needs and blissful having the house to myself whenever he went out on errands etc. We are both WFH so always in each other’s pockets.

Reading the Nerys and India LC book which is what first got me doing this WOE years ago as I need some motivation. I can see that weight has come off my face, chest legs and arms but my waist and hips are stubbornly resistant.

@prettybird gorgeous tiles. I love the herringbone pattern. I wanted to do our kitchen like that but we weren’t brave enough as we were doing the tiling ourselves and though it would be too complicated.

BIWI · 14/07/2021 12:41

So far, so good @BestIsWest! It is, in its own way, actually quite enjoyable. I'm up in our bedroom, have an en suite bathroom and my little office to hand. I have a kettle and coffee/milk up here, along with the paper, my book and a new copy of Olive magazine that arrived this morning.

I don't have to worry about what I'm cooking for dinner tonight and I don't have to justify why I'm on the laptop all day Grin

I think I'd probably better have a shower at some point, but will then get straight back into my pyjamas!

What's not to like, really? (As long as I don't develop symptoms, of course)

venusandmars · 14/07/2021 14:59

Ooh @BIWI that sounds like sick leave, without actually being sick Grin The best of all worlds. Except that you're retired so you don't get paid for not working (apart from whatever pension you are paid for not working anyway).

My dc2 is coming home tomorrow Grin Grin they live in Europe so it's been a long time... Quarantine has been done, and now we can be together. I've spent the morning cooking in anticipation Grin

prettybird · 14/07/2021 15:06

Enjoy your family time @venusandmars SmileThanks

Hi all - @venusandmars that sounds so lovely!

Glad to hear isolation isn't too arduous @BIWI

I've had a few good days with plenty of veg and water, today I was really tired and just couldn't face cooking so had what felt like a slovenly lunch of two slices of that low carb bread, lightly toasted with butter then a tin of posh sardines. Then a piece of cheese.

Just had a big dollop of 10% greek yog with a few blueberries and a splash of double cream

Chicken curry tonight made with cream and spinach with cauli rice

not the best day re veg, but at least I have drunk plenty of water

The gamechanger in my house is finally managing to set up Netflix on the tv in my bedroom (involved a chromecast and a wifi extender - old stone house). So no more having to endure Love Island for me (three teens at home). Am looking forward to being in bed by 9pm, I've changed the sheets and nicked some big cushions from the sitting room. Can't wait.

MrsKoala · 14/07/2021 16:56

How lovely venus . How long is it since you saw them in the flesh? I bet you are so excited!

I’ve contacted Legoland and because of COVID it’s not a buffet anymore 😡 So it’s a 3 course menu whether you want a pud or not! Here’s e menu the menu
I’ll probably have the salmon to start and not really sure about the mains Confused . Maybe tandoori chicken or steak- I expect the watercress salad is minuscule tho. 😡😡😡

BIWI · 14/07/2021 17:05

I'd go for the salmon for the starter as well, and any of the mains just without the carb element! Ask if you can have extra veg instead.

It's outrageous making you pay for three courses if you only want two, though.

OP posts:
BIWI · 14/07/2021 17:06

... although you could always go for the fruit salad from the kids's menu - might be a better alternative (although obviously depends what fruit they put in it!)

OP posts:
MrsKoala · 14/07/2021 17:19

I agree. I’ve emailed and asked if they do 2 courses and if I can substitute carbs for veg/salad. They don’t do separate sides otherwise I’d order a veg too. I expect cheese as a pud is too expensive for their margins. Iirc the price has gone up to reflect the service part and the choice has gone down. Sigh. More COVID effects.

FusionChefGeoff · 14/07/2021 19:16

@Bryonyshcmyony that sounds AMAZING I hope it lives up to expectations!

@BIWI oh wow you're properly isolating from everyone that's hardcore. Does sound nice though Grin

Feeling well and happy today thank God. Lovely food and managing to (mostly) feel grateful that I have so much work to do and only a little bit resentful how pulled in different directions I feel!

Had a physio / massage session earlier and it is in a gorgeous golf club so instead of rushing back to the laptop I had a decaf coffee in the sun as a treat - very nice indeed.

L: hot smoked salmon and boiled egg salad with hm dressing and hm mayo.
D: chicken stir fry all by myself

Sounds silly but I've never confidently made stir fry without relying on a jar / packet as couldn't really comprehend what you add for flavour. So I cheated a little bit with a special stir fry oil that's a mix of garlic oil, ginger, sesame oil and rapeseed. Then added coconut oil, fresh chilli, fresh ginger, FLGV, bean sprouts, a Thai spice mix I bought from our health shop (no nasties) fish sauce and GF soy sauce. LuSH!!

FusionChefGeoff · 14/07/2021 19:19

@MrsKoala can you ask if you can have 2 starters instead of a dessert???

And I always try to mix and match from what they've already got so you could have the steak and ask for the spring greens that come with the gnocchi and / or broccoli is with the lamb. I find it helps to be really specific!

prettybird · 14/07/2021 21:13

@FusionChefGeoff - I usually just use plenty of garlic (but I suspect that's out of bounds for you at the moment Sad), ginger and Kikkoman soy sauce when I make up a stir fry with odds 'n' sods. I finish it off with some c

prettybird · 14/07/2021 21:13

....sesame oil.
