Morning all!

Another wet and dreary day. What happened to summer?!

Anyway, for its final outing, here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

It's not the end, of course - and I know many of you are keen to keep going until whenever the next Bootcamp starts. So post here for all the usual chat, banter, recipes, etc.

Poor you BIWI. Im confused. If you get pinged does it mean you have to isolate for 8 days or can you do a test? It’s a total bummer tho either way. I’m so pissed off with all this now. My resilience is fading away and I just want to ignore it all - not very mature or responsible I know!

MrsKoala · 13/07/2021 15:01

Never washed any Berry here either. I remember watching a program one about why you shouldn’t wash raspberries- it was either Greg Wallace or Paul Hollywood.

Above should have said that dh and I had a further 10 days of quiet reading and walking, just in case I'd given it to him.

BIWI · 13/07/2021 15:28

I've been told to isolate for 8 days, which is 10 days since I was in contact with my trainer - who subsequently tested positive for Covid. His symptoms started on Sunday (day after we'd trained), he got a test on Monday and the results this morning - so my 10 day isolation period is now 8 days.

@venusandmars I'm not sure what you mean about having to set up an account though? I haven't been asked to do this. Nor have I had a call from anyone yet! I have ordered a PCR test, which hopefully will arrive tomorrow.

@MrsKoala I'm going to be in a very similar situation at a festival although I will have a high tech camping cool bag which is good for at least 2 days - can you take a cool bag??

Things that are floating round my head as options:

Tinned tuna (the drained stuff)
tinned green beans
olives
Jar artichokes / other antipasti stuff in oil
Spam / corned beef / frankfurters??? I know they're all horrifically processed but they're LC
Babybel (would last ok last out of fridge I reckon)

I can add pre-boiled eggs from cook bag so could you get hotel to do you a couple extra for breakfast?!?

Was it @StuntNun who went sailing and had similar challenges?

FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2021 16:38

I'm actually thinking of a browsing trip to Tesco later to see what other weird and wonderful shelf stable stuff exists so will report back.

I love how nothing changes here, other than scales and inches. Grin

Same great recipes, great encouragement, a bit of a setback, and tremendous humour.

From what I remember from our last stay at Legoland the food is atrocious. The breakfast is trays of cooked fried or scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, tomatoes, beans etc, and pastries/toast and jam. The lunch options are difficult because unless I go back to the hotel room it’ll need to be carried around and eaten on the move if everyone else is eating in the pizza/pasta place. Dinner was a roast meat and veg and a curry or chilli which I can eat around easily. I think a big breakfast and some sausages smuggled out in my pocket (is that a sausage in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?! 😂) will see me to dinner, which will be early at 6pm anyway. Then another big breakfast and more pocket pork for lunch the next day and home to a plate of FLGV!

I might look at those tuna salads, I know they have beans in but it may be preferable to all alternatives.

StuntNun · 13/07/2021 18:27

MrsKoala I found the Legoland hotel lunches okay because it was a buffet so very easy just to pick the low carb stuff. I don't know whether the menu has changed since I last went though. McDonalds is easy if you order through their screens as you can customise their burgers to take the buns off. I usually go for a bunless double cheeseburger and a side salad.

MrsKoala · 13/07/2021 18:30

Oh that’s good to know. Was that in the hotel? We usually eat in the park so haven’t tried the bricks restaurant at lunch, just at dinner. Is it a faff to go back to the hotel and then out again? We’ve got the pool booked at 3pm so I don’t want to keep going back and forth.

MrsKoala · 13/07/2021 18:35

Just had a look and they don’t have a lunch sitting in the restaurant in the hotel- just breakfast and dinner. I wonder if that means you just can’t book it or if it isn’t open for lunch.

KateF · 13/07/2021 18:51

I'm feeling a bit down today. I bought some scales and got a horrible shock. I weigh far more than I imagined. I need to lose 100lb so I'll be here forever! I've been through shock, disbelief, shame and anger ( with myself) in the last 24 hours but at least I can still hope that this way of eating will get me there eventually.

I don't have any support in real life so I'm very grateful to everyone who posts such helpful information. It's lovely the way you all support each other.

BIWI · 13/07/2021 18:56

Don't panic @KateF! You've already made a really good start, so you're on the right track.

Try not to think of it in terms of 100lbs, as that just seems overwhelming, and will make it easy for you to give in. Break it down into smaller, more manageable targets - say half a stone at a time. Focus on the next month, rather than anything longer than that.

And, try and reward yourself each time you achieve a target. (Not with high carb goodies though!)

Bryonyshcmyony · 13/07/2021 19:04

@katef what BIWI says is absolutely right! 7lbs at a time! That's totally doable and you will feel so happy everytime you hit that 7lb target!

MrsKoala · 13/07/2021 19:22

@KateF don't panic. Don't even focus on the weight. You will start noticing your face looks slimmer, you're less bloated, your clothes will feel more comfortable, your hair and nails will look healthier, your skin will glow, your energy level will go up. The weight will come off gradually and all these things will happen. Before you know it you'll need new clothes and will feel fantastic. You can do it.

prettybird · 13/07/2021 19:35

And take measurements! They are amazingly motivating!

At the very least, use a belt or a piece of clothing to monitor how your body is changing shape. Smile

BIWI · 13/07/2021 19:38

Yes great point @prettybird

@KateF it's very common for the scales to refuse to budge, even though you can tell from your clothes that things are moving!

So measurements are a great idea, as is finding an item of clothing that's just a bit too tight right now, and keep trying it on.

KateF · 13/07/2021 20:40

Thank you so much for the kind messages. I will definitely find something I can't fit into and use that as a measure.

Today I've eaten
B. 10% Greek yogurt, spoon of cream and a few berries
L. Chicken mayo and green salad
D. Two lamb koftas with Greek salad including feta and olive oil
Three cups of tea with a splash of unsweetened almond milk. I'm on my fourth bottle of water (900ml each)

BIWI · 13/07/2021 21:06

That sounds good @KateF - but you need more veg than just salad. That's where your carbs should mainly be coming from - it's important, so that you're getting appropriate nutrition (and fibre)

OP posts:
FusionChefGeoff · 13/07/2021 21:13

@KateF sounds like a good day full of lovely nutritious food great news!!

@MrsKoala so my Tesco recce revealed the following. Bearing in mind I'm also low FODMAP at the moment so there were more exciting options they just had onion / garlic in which I can't have.

Corned beef
Frankfurters
Tuna (lots of flavoured options)
Salmon (lots of flavoured options)
Mackerel fillets lemon and black pepper
Green beans
Olives in pouches very handy
Pecans
Macadamias
Brazil nuts
Jars of olives stuffed with cheese in oil
Jars of spicy peppers stuffed with cheese in oil
Jars of grilled peppers in oil

So I reckon I can make 'salads' using a slightly different selection of fish, green beans, olives and peppers.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the corned beef - maybe use as 'sandwiches' with pre sliced cheese and cucumber.

Frankfurters will prob end up as general snacks.

Question for everyone - peanut butter will probably feature but what can I put it on?? Celery is out due to FODMAP and everything else I can think of is carb heavy...

BIWI · 13/07/2021 21:26

...erm, on a spoon?

I had a courgette carbonara tonight using a courgette grown by my own fair hand Smile

In other news, the bathroom is progressing slowly nicely Smile: shower tray is in and tiling is now underway (needed to be herringbone after all was going to be a simpler L shape apparently because the tiles aren't evenly sized Confused)
