Morning campers

As ever, here is the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of this Bootcamp.

I sense that things are quietening down a little on the threads, but I hope that doesn't reflect commitment and progress?

It's interesting to hear the chat about maintenance, and very positive that people are starting to realise that it might not be long before they have reached that stage.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit more positive @FusionChefGeoff

@NigellaAwesom - your cloakroom looks lovely. Love the need to provide for the cat as well Grin

@Moonswimmer and @venusandmars - sailing sounds, to me, like a week/weekend from hell! I'd rather do an SAS outward bound course than be stuck on a tiny boat worrying about how I might go to the loo!

@StuntNun - very impressed that you could just get up and run 2K without training for it! I've completed my C25K so I'm running now for 30 minutes at a time, but I know that I'm nowhere near 5K yet, and it took 9 weeks to reach this stage!

Very envious of you @Andi2020 - wish we were near a beach somewhere.

@ElasticFirecrackers those cheese things sound lovely. What kind of cheese is Maasdam?

@ListenLinda - what do you have in your fridge/freezer/cupboards? We can try and do some kind of 'ready steady cook' for you! Tonight we're going to have a stir-fry, with pork tenderloin and either egg-fried cauliflower rice, or a sort-of pho, using Bare Naked Noodles.

@BSky I'm afraid it's inevitable that too much wine won't help. Bloating is generally dealt with by drinking more water, but I'm sorry that you're having issues with that. If it doesn't resolve itself soon, and you're still having the abdominal ache, I'd get that checked out with your GP. Just to be on the safe side.

Busy next few days here - we're having our Christmas this weekend! Off to pick up SIL from Cardiff and BIL from Bath (DH's brother and sister) and bring them back to us - along with DS2 who will come and join us. So lots of prep work to do to keep us all fed and entertained.

Presents are under the 'tree'; all the beds now have Christmas bedding and we have a couple of Christmas candle ornaments on the mantlepiece as well as little stash of Christmas loo paper in the bathrooms Grin

(Oh, and plenty of Champagne and fizz in the fridge)

Oh, how wonderful @BIWI! I adore Christmas. Am madly jealous.

I noticed a quietening, but suspect (may be wrong) a small reticence leading from the first day of week 5. Hopefully people will feel free to post whatever they want this week.

I'm not weighing today because AF is absolutely imminent. Back hurts and I'm a grumpy little sod.

I wouldn't mind a BC-specific challenge. Something recipe related!

Cactusowl · 17/05/2021 08:57

Have a lovely Christmas celebration BIWI, it sounds like such a lovely idea.

Generally my weight loss has been very slow this bootcamp. I decided to really go for it last week (cut out the soft fruit and cream!) and have been rewarded with a 6lb loss - hope to carry on the same way for the rest of the bootcamp.

Timetobuckup · 17/05/2021 08:57

Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 @BIWI

This is the first week where I have atruggled with hunger and keeping on track. I dont really know why I have found this week so tricky.
But it has shown on the scales. 1.5 pounds up. I am a bit gutted about it but determined to get back on track.
I think I maybe need more variety for breakfast and lunch to keep me going. Dinners are fine because I love cooking but I just don't have a lot of time to prep the others.

Anyway I will KOKO and monitor my water . I think I am drinking enough but will keep an eye on it.

Timetobuckup · 17/05/2021 08:59

@nowlook I like that idea. What do you have in mind ?
@Cactusowl that is amazing !! Well done on a great loss.

BIWI · 17/05/2021 08:59

I like the sound of another recipe challenge!

How about something to do with chicken? I reckon we've probably all got chicken in the freezer.

BestIsWest · 17/05/2021 09:02

Merry Christmas. I know someone who has kept their tree up since December and is not taking it down until the family can be reunited to celebrate.

No weighing here but I can see signs that some weight has shifted (bra is looser).

nowlook · 17/05/2021 09:04

I've definitely got chicken in the freezer! Would be good to do something with it other than Alfredo once in a while.

Particularly like this idea because the chicken recipe thread is the one which has lost its sticky, so gets moved further down the thread list.

What about the veggies though? What's the veggie equivalent of chicken? Grin

BIWI · 17/05/2021 09:08

Veggies can have their turn next week Grin

Morning!

Love your Christmas pics @BIWI. Seasons greetings!

@nowlook I concur with your opinion re reticence.

I can take or leave chicken, so ideas to make it more interesting are always welcome.

Lost the half pound I gained last week.

I've lost focus a bit - prob because this is my second consecutive boot camp, and the novelty has worn off. My jaded palate craves novelty.

Will try to think of ways to re-energise self.

Moonswimmer · 17/05/2021 09:14

Happy Christmas, @biwi!

As luck would have it, I’ve just taken a chicken out of the freezer. We are on a challenge to empty the (filthy and knackered) garage freezer, so we can get rid of it, and now that this chicken is out there is only a bag of spare ribs left! I can’t tell you how excited I am about getting rid of it. Things have been massively helped by DP being unable to drive currently, so he can’t go and stock up on supermarket reductions and fill everything up again!

Jellycatspyjamas · 17/05/2021 09:16

Stayed the same this week, and I’ve not been around as much cos work and home have been busy - and some of my food choices haven’t been great, so I’m lucky to have got away with STS.

Back on it today.

B. Greek yoghurt with vanilla
L. Left over bolognese from last night with broccoli
D. Chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce and green veggies

nowlook · 17/05/2021 09:27

I've just consulted the Keto meal planner that came free with that mammoth order I did from the low carb food co last BC. I'm looking for the chicken and leek crumble recipe (which was one of only two of their ready meals that I enjoyed). I stumbled upon a recipe for granola @FusionChefGeoff. All nonsense to me as I can't bear the stuff:

100g each of coconut flakes, hemp hearts, walnuts, almond flakes. 50g each of pecans and chia seeds.

Chop in food processor, spread on baking tray, sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 15 mins at 180 degress.

Makes 10 portions; each portion has 3 g carbs. Apparently, you could go mad and add butter or 100% chocolate to make 10 granola bars instead Envy

SittingontheSidelines · 17/05/2021 09:39

Hi all. I've been lurking around for over a week now, getting inspiration for food and books and being helped by your enthusiasm, so thought I'd better show my face, so to speak. I hope it's alright for me to join in at this late stage. I have been here before and recognise lots of names from previous Bootcamps. I have undone all my previous LCHF good work since the first lockdown. Oh how much easier it is to put it on than lose it, especially when eating is one of the few nice things you're left allowed to do. Anyway I've given myself a good shake and have been back on it for the last couple of weeks. I can't weigh as don't have any scales, but am using a new item of clothing to check loss. Bought in what I thought was a very generous size but sadly no where near generous enough.

nowlook · 17/05/2021 09:49

Hello @SittingontheSidelines! Welcome home Grin

Completely agree about the relative lack of effort it took to pile on the pounds.

Now, how's your chicken game?

BIWI · 17/05/2021 09:53

Welcome @SittingontheSidelines!

Yes, it's distressingly easy to pile on the pounds and more distressingly difficult to get shot of them!

OP posts:
prettybird · 17/05/2021 09:53

@SittingontheSidelines - Welcome Thanks People join in all the time. Just follow the extra strict Boot Camp rules for the first 2 weeks and hopefully you'll soon be into your "test" piece of clothing. Take a picture so that you can see the progress Smile

BIWI - have a lovely "Christmas" Xmas WinkXmas SmileXmas Grin

Oven-baked garlic chicken

This recipe, from The Diet Doctor, sounds both easy and delicious.

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/05/2021 09:55

I also have a recipe somewhere for a sort-of Moroccan chicken, which basically means making a paste out of different spices and using it as a rub all over the chicken. Will see if I can find that one.

MrsBertBibby · 17/05/2021 10:09

Morning, 2.5 pound this week, not bad for my week 4. Was up a pound on Sunday morning too.

Another weekend hampered by bee-sting hand, dammit!

SittingontheSidelines · 17/05/2021 10:11

Thank you all. It's good to be back.

@nowlook Haha. We had chicken last night, will that count?

Very simple. It was chicken wings coated in Pataks madras paste, roasted and served with leaves, vine tomatoes and cucumber. I like some Greek yogurt with it too. The paste on the chicken works out at less than one carb per piece.

nowlook · 17/05/2021 10:18

Just to update you all on my cycles, AF has now arrived. A full hour later than expected Grin

Found the chicken and leek crumble recipe, so look forward to giving that a go.

Another miserable day in Derbyshire, weather-wise. So glad last year's first lockdown was a sunny one.

Random789 · 17/05/2021 10:29

Merry Christmas, BIWI.Glitterball

Haven't weighed myself yet and v much suspect that I will be up on last week.

I did have a NSV this morning though: On my run, my lycra-style running bottoms were loose enough that I had to do a certain amount of repeat-hoiking to prevent a builder's bum type situation developing.

I need to hold on to whatever crumb of validation that I can scavenge at the moment, so I will take that as a win.

StuntNun · 17/05/2021 10:35

Running 2km wasn't all that impressive BIWI as I was running with my six-year-old so it was quite a slow pace! Seriously though I have been doing weight training for the last 20 weeks and I'm sure that there must be some extra muscle in my legs that made all the difference. I'm still working my way up to my first press up though!

I love the idea of having Christmas now BIWI have you saved presents all this time?

Is it near your TOTM Timetobuckup? That can have quite an effect on appetite.

ElasticFirecracker · 17/05/2021 10:37

@BIWI It's a Dutch cheese. They sell packets of slices in Aldi, and ice doing this cheese works well. Emmental is good too.

I put olive oil on baking sheet or foil and put under the grill on a lower shelf. You need to put space between each piece because they spread. And you need to watch because all of a sudden they are dark golden and bubbling and about 30 seconds later they are black and smoking.

This is the packet.
