Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Beautiful Venus!
Sorry trying to keep up, milesjupp what is it you're unfortunately a lifetime member of?

prettybird · 02/05/2021 13:23

@venusandmars - beautiful pictures Thanks. They bring back childhood memories of our annual family holidays to Tiree Smile

Oneborneverydecade · 02/05/2021 14:08

Everything crossed for you for tomorrow @ouchmyfeet and glad you've had a better week

@venusandmars that sucks about your sister. The island scenery is absolutely stunning, amazing

TeddingtonTrashbag · 02/05/2021 14:36

Sorry this is boring but might conceivably help someone!
Am on a mission to find the best formula for drinking enough water.
Seems that if I have 500 mil as as i wake up it removes the need for a cup of tea with milk. Then another 500 mil on the way to school.
500 mil at done point in the day when I have one lesson before break.500 mil on the way home from school. 500 mil when I arrive home...
Have n er like coffee butnowgondi v thst Americano with cream is gorgeous! Many ch better than with milk.

@cheeseisthebest I have chronic lymphoma. Was just being circumspect as didn't want to derail :)
FusionChefGeoff · 02/05/2021 15:18

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch my emojis are on the blink but I'm glad you've got support on that thread and I am humbled by you putting helping me above your own struggles xxx

@Random789 the shame thing is so nuts isn't it. Were / are your parents judgemental / always thin / always on diets?? Mine are and it's left me with a very concrete core belief that fat = lack of discipline = inferior to them / therefore me. It's horrific to admit but I have to say it out loud in order to get rid of it.

The self confidence I get from properly and mindfully nourishing my body is enormous and I'm hopeful that eventually that will be the loudest voice.

So, alas it seems I hit my peak 2 yrs ago as although I had a great run in a stunning place with glorious sunshine and my favourite person in the world (DH, DC, DP only possibly come first Grin) I was 5 minutes off my PB which doesn't sound like much but it's an extra 30 secs per mile I just didn't have today.

I ran for 2h 12 minutes and STILL managed a sprint finish which nearly killed me (and I also let out a bit of an accidental / desperation "fuck" as I was passing a small child on a bike Blush) but I DID IT!!!!!!!!!

Resisted the doughnuts and brownies from yesterday which are still in my house Shock and refuelled with on plan salad and strawberries now I'm going back into BC lite.

Signing off from life / parenting for the rest of the day now Grin

Oneborneverydecade · 02/05/2021 15:42

Well done @FusionChefGeoff fantastic!

My DP or more especially DSDad is v judgemental. Its so frustrating as he's never had a problem with his weight and so has no emathy. I know that this negatively affects my self worth when I'm heavier

BestIsWest · 02/05/2021 15:43

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch can I echo what @FusionChefGeoff said and thank you for your kindness.

@FusionCheffGeoff. Well done on your run. Amazing.

Timetobuckup · 02/05/2021 16:30

Well done @FusionChefGeoff that is a fab time ! Even in my most optimistic moments doing parkrun I have never even toyed with running so far .

Yay to good hair @Rshard it makes such a difference doesn't it ?

@Oneborneverydecade my dh is lovely but it wasn't until recently when I was really honest about how disordered my eating was that he has come to understand how tricky it is for me. He was never judgy but he definitely was of the eat less move more mentality. However he also doesn't care how heavy I am.

Or so he tells me , I cant quite believe he isn't happier when I am 3 stone lighterthan I am.

FusionChefGeoff · 02/05/2021 16:37

@Timetobuckup my DH keeps saying how much better my mood is and how it's noticeable as a definite result of this approach.

I don't think he had a clue how badly it used to affect me either but the great thing is that he's really supportive and fully behind the changes which is a big help.

Oneborneverydecade · 02/05/2021 16:49

@Timetobuckup I'd be doing my v supportive DH as disservice if I didn't point out that's its my dear parents who are judgemental, rather than him. DH has said that the change that makes him happiest is my renewed confidence. He lost 5st about 10 years ago so he gets it.

Sounds like you, @FusionChefGeoff and I are lucky, it makes such a difference

ditavonteesed · 02/05/2021 17:00

Had a right of passage parenting moment yesterday which made me realise I'm not cut out for parenting teens, had to collect a drunk 15 year old from town. On the plus side I've barely eaten anything as I'm so stressed. She was out with dd1 (17) and her friends and apparently dd1 didn't know a couple of her friends took drugs and were giving dd2 alcohol, when she found out she went mental and dd2 refused to come home with her. Cue lots of sobbing all round. Anyway everyone safe, dd1 not talking to most of her friends and dd2 unfortunately didn't even get the hangover that's supposed to put you off for years.

Timetobuckup · 02/05/2021 17:29

@ditavonteesed that is a right of passage for sure!! Very annoying the hangover didn't live up to expectations. My ds did this at a similar age and thankfully the hangover was horrific!
Happy Bank Holiday Wink

Stokey · 02/05/2021 17:35

@ditavonteesed Flowers that sounds incredibly stressful, both the friends taking drugs and having to collect drunk 15 y old. At least nothing too serious happened, hopefully just a lesson learned.

Well done @FusionChefGeoff, amazing run and kudos for not slipping afterwards.

I'm at the end of week one and finding it tough today. I feel quite headachy and was tempted to reach for the digestives. I had a few almonds instead. I haven't drunk as much water today and just feel tired and flat, don't know if it's carb flu. Still today's food:
B: Greek yoghurt
Decaf Coffee with cream
L: scrambled eggs & smoked salmon, some cheese
S: almonds
D: chicken stir fry.

I can't supplement with salt as am on a low-salt diet anyway for a chronic condition, so if anyone has other suggestions to stop the headaches, they're most welcome!

prettybird · 02/05/2021 17:53

@Stokey - can you have Lo-Salt? It also helps supplements magnesium which is important on this WoE. Before having the almonds, you should make yourself drink a glass or two of water and wait 5 minutes. You'll probably find that you were thirsty and/or "mouth hungry" (rather than genuinely hungry) and the moment will pass.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 02/05/2021 18:01

Wow lots going on here!

Firstly unmumsnetty hugs and Flowers for everyone who needs them. I hope everything goes well for you all 🤞🏻

Well done @FusionChefGeoff! Afraid I’m one of the ‘if you see me running you’d better run too because something scary is after me’ camp, but I love how much enjoyment it brings to those who love it.

@BIWI phew, then I don’t need to apologise for possible hockey stick related injuries to you anyway Blush

@venusandmars oh that looks amazing Envy

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 02/05/2021 18:06

@Stokey I take a magnesium supplement which seems to help.

Otherwise up your potassium high green veg? A wise one will be along shortly.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 02/05/2021 18:07

@Stokey also I don’t think almonds are allowed on the first 2 weeks.

cheeseisthebest · 02/05/2021 18:21

Oh milesjupp so sorry to hear that. Well don't fusion on your run, wow!

cheeseisthebest · 02/05/2021 18:22

Having a lovely weekend away but my god eating is not good. Im trying but am starving all the time where I'm not eating the right stuff and blood sugars gone haywire.
We've had a huge pub meal at 3 which was a weird time and now haven't really got any food for later!

FinallyHere · 02/05/2021 18:33

@FusionChefGeoff great results, congrats

@BSky glad to read that reading some honest reports around emotions etc issues around food is helpful. I'm OK at sharing things while I'm pretty much complying with the rules. This Bootcamp I'm feeling strong and commit to staying around and posting even if I fall off the wagon.

That's a line ^ ready to be drawn if necessary. Oddly it pretty much ensures that I shall stick to the rules pretty strictly.

I have been out of a walk each day since we set the move more May challenges, except for Friday when I was in work and felt I walked miles. My calves were very tight by the time I finally (sic) hot home.

Yesterday finished with fried chicken thighs with mushroom, spring onion and philly sauce with roast sprouts.

Today's lunch was left over chicken in a Caesar inspired salad of garlic and anchovy mashed with tbsp delouis Mayo plus celery, spring onions, cucumber, little gem lettuce, avocado and parsley.

Not sure about supper yet. DH is not feeling quite well so I get to cook myself whatever I fancy. Excited.

cheeseisthebest · 02/05/2021 18:35

Forgot to say have swum twice and today walked 1300 steps so pleased with that, lots of fresh air too.

Moonswimmer · 02/05/2021 18:40

An odd good day, as I was out and about and food was not totally within my control.

B: bacon rashers
L: handful of salted peanuts
D: beef brisket and the first harvest of asparagus, covered in melted butter.

Haven’t pooed all weekend, which is stressing me out for tomorrow’s weigh in, I must say.

Moonswimmer · 02/05/2021 18:40

An odd food day, I mean.

Odd because of shocking lack of veg.

colouringindoors · 02/05/2021 18:42

Self sabotaged with cake at garden centre. Didn't even enjoy second half of it. Felt yucky and bloated after. Bum. Tomorrow's weigh in will not be what it would have been. SadAngry
