Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

I make H Bananas and custard with chopped up chocolate (usually all the uneaten kids Easter eggs) stirred in. He loves it. Everyone else hates it. You couldn’t pay me to eat it. We never ever ate food like that when I was growing up. I hadn’t tasted cauliflower cheese till I made it in my 30s and hadn’t tasted cauliflower or cabbage at all till I was in my 20s. I remember tasting angel delight at a friends house once and thinking it tasted like hand soap, I thought they were all strange to go on about how great it was Grin

@Timetobuckup I have a 17yo dd who thinks she knows everything too
I told her to spend a while today looking up university and look at Grant's she looked at unis but said she couldn't find anything on Grant's. She will leave all the financial part to me and think she can go off to party.

Loving all the chat on olden day meals brings back memories

Well done to those who weighed in today.

I did my big wardrobe clear out filled 3 black bags off clothes I dont wear.
Ready to start afresh now for May

prettybird · 30/04/2021 20:10

I found a pair of over 17 year old cream, ever so slightly bootcut, barely worn jeans of mine in dh's wardrobe today. I actually think that they're c26 years old. They were M&S size 12, which in the mid 90s was less vanity sizing than now Shock

I tried them on - and they fitted Smile just Wink

I've put them in the wash as there was a slight stain on the front, but I'll post a picture once they've been washed and ironed.

Ha! I went out this evening for an early dinner with friends and wore a pair of cream, straight leg, Tommy Hilfiger jeans that I haven't seen for at least 15 years. They're a 28 with not a jot of elastane.

Back in my dressing gown now and hope the marks from the waistband will go overnight Grin

Restaurant was a Turkish place and I had halloumi followed by a chicken shish salad. We didn't stay long because it was freezing and they don't have an alcohol licence

Hello lovely people, so good to catch up with you all after a day unusually at work in real life rather than via Teams.

Loving the wide ranging topics and the picture of those tulips, here is a snap from work where the tulips are out in force. These are my favourite colour combination.

3.5l water, chicken leg on way home, lemon sole in lemon and butter, leeks and spinach for dinner.

For the first time this bootcamp, I'm tempted by chocolate. There is some part of my brains telling me that it would be perfectly reasonable to eat two squares of Lindt 90%. There is nothing wrong with that per say, there is also no need for it know and it makes no position contribution to consequences.

Every time I say err, no, why would I? though, it produces a different reason why ... its been a long day, I'm tired after being in site all day, 90% is within bootcamp rules, I deserve it, one square wouldn't hurt etc.

My strategy is to observe the desire and not satisfy it, to break an unhelpful habit of eating sweets I don't need in the evening.

The voice is convincing and highly plausible. I have no intention of 'blinking first' and giving in to it.

Am sure you are cheering me on. KOKO

Hello everyone - I'm knackered after the most hectic yet exciting work week I've had in a while. Things are finally looking up for my industry and therefore my business.

Sounds like your travellers will be well looked after @nowlook. Can't think of much but Europeans tend to be suspicious of tap water so have you got lots of bottled for then?

Love the maintenance stories - I can't think about that yet as the weekend showed me my impulse control is non existent so I'm focussing on today!

I've been sticking to strict BC this week and have done really well - kids had friends over and asked for pitta pizzas, garlic bread and chips talk about carb fest!! The garlic bread smelt sooo good but I resisted AND the bowl of leftover chips was hanging around for ages and I didn't even pinch a tiny one

Instead, I did myself a carb free pizza with egg and cheese base and then chicken / peppers / olives / mozzarella topping it was delicious and incredibly filling.

We're off to a food fair tomorrow and even DH suggested I take a pot of something just in case - this is the man who usually wanders into the kitchen at 6pm and starts thinking about what might be a good idea for dinner.
So for him to be showing that much forward planning to MY lunch is incredibly thoughtful - and right of course!! So I will do an avo / egg / salmon / spinach / tomato mash up.

@biwi I have a beetroot question as the spreadsheet has it quite high and yet my jar of pickled from Aldi has it much lower (am upstairs so can't check exact). I love beetroot so if the pickled stuff is as low as it says ok the jar I'd be well happy!

I've also got a general question about unsweetened almond milk. Does it count as dairy?? I use so little in my tea I end up chucking loads away as it goes off. What else (apart from drinking it!) can I make with it?? Normal milk gets used up in porridge or a white sauce thickened with flour so they're both out any other ideas?

Covid10lbs · 01/05/2021 02:45

I weighed today, and my weight can easily go up or down a lb over 2 days. Anyway it's a downward trajectory so thrilled.
Inspired by the C25K talk, I ran today - run 2mins, walk 1min, ten times. Actually I really enjoyed it, and I hate running so thanks.
Food
B. 3 eggs with broccoli and blue cheese, creamy coffee.
L. Soup, patè
D. Pork leftovers stirfried with peppers (just remembered the mange tout now!) & onions, coconut and curry.
Greek yogurt with peanut butter.
Herbal tea with 85% chocolate.

nowlook · 01/05/2021 06:33

Bottles water is a great shout @FusionChefGeoff. I'd forgotten about the European views on our wonderful groundwater system Grin

ouchmyfeet · 01/05/2021 07:01

Do Europeans not like our water?! I don't understand this, it's SO MUCH NICER THAN THEIRS.

Sorry for shouting Blush. Just a bit horrified at poor European taste Confused

TeddingtonTrashbag · 01/05/2021 07:19

@ElasticFirecracker
artichoke hearts in oil
Bought sone of thses in Liidl yesterday -bliddy gorgeous!

ListenLinda · 01/05/2021 07:21

Having an absolutely horrendous time with DS. The bladder spasms are horrible to witness and the medicine is doing sod all. Trying to get four different medications into a 2yo is awful, he now says ‘no no’ every time you go near him with the spoon!
We tried to get ibruprofen in him yesterday evening and he threw up everywhere and then again 30 mins later. Poor little dude.
Yesterday was such a stressful day.
But food wise good, my Sainsbury’s delivery arrived with their premium range sausages going out of date today, so stuck them in the air fryer while I fried some Savoy cabbage in butter and fried an egg.
Tea was pork belly with tender stem broccoli and carrots.
Only managed 1.5 litres of water though, as was doing my best to clear some work as I’m not in now until Thursday.
First day back in the office for 13 months Shock

Some of them (not all) have a completely unjustified superiority complex.

I'll be in south west Wales to add insult to injury. The water is grand!

They can have bottles of Princes Gate from Narberth. Not buying Evian for them Grin

nowlook · 01/05/2021 07:27

Poor little DS @ListenLinda. I bet you're worn out with it all Thanks

ElasticFirecracker · 01/05/2021 07:41

Yesterday's meals

B: Yoghurt

L: Avocado w vinaigrette dressing, spinach rocket watercress. Cheese crackers.

D: chicken and aubergine stir fry.

Red wine

Oneborneverydecade · 01/05/2021 07:42

DH and I stayed at The Bell last year @MrsKoala when we visited Sissinghurst and Dixter. The food was lovely. Such a weird coincidence as I think that's the only time I've stayed/eaten in Kent as an adult

Bestbees · 01/05/2021 07:50

@prettybird looking forward to seeing the jeans! Your ds course sounds great.

@FinallyHere great self talk there. I will remember that when the chocolate is calling.

@FusionChefGeoff I have the same issue with almond milk. I put some each day into my kids porridge so it's half and have with dairy. It would be great to be able to buy half bottles. Having said that I have continued to used the same bottle for over a week and it's been fine. Glad to hear work is looking up.

@Covid10lbs well done with both the run and the weight.

@ListenLinda your poor DS. I hope today is a little better. Flowers

Has anyone else watched the tonight program 'giving up sugar for good'? Nothing we do t know really but thought it was interesting to see it a bit more mainstream. Its on itv if people want to watch.

Had 2 gins last night, but no chocolate/cheese which is great for a Friday. Another 0.25 lb off on the scale this morning too. The only derailment this weekend will be Sunday night when I am having drinks with friends, but will avoid snacking by making sure I have a big dinner before hand. I have found saying to people that eating late gives me heartburn in the night a good way to avoid carby snacks. Although I don't not tell people I am doing this woe I don't always actually want to talk about it!

Day one of Move More May!!

So plan is
L salad of spinach, tomato, chicken, black olives and mayo. Boiled egg.
D meatballs in a tomato sauce, courgetti, probably cheese on top. More green veg on the side. Greek yoghurt with pomegranate and flax seeds.
MMM: long walk with friends through local woods.

Have a great Weeke d everyone.

Rshard · 01/05/2021 07:53

Poor ds linda, hope he’s feeling better soon.

Move it May! Pinch, punch and all that. Going to aim for 10k steps a day to include getting back into running.

Oneborneverydecade · 01/05/2021 07:57

@ListenLinda that sounds awful for you both, I hope things improve quickly

@nowlook the soft water in S Wales did wonders for my curls - if only you could bottle it and post it to me Grin

Oneborneverydecade · 01/05/2021 07:58

@ouchmyfeet how're you getting on? I've possibly misremembered but did you post you'd had a not so great couple of weeks? Did you manage to get a grip?

I'm a walking timotei advert whenever I visit that particular client Grin

(One for the teenagers. Must update terms of reference)

FinallyHere · 01/05/2021 08:00

Ohh @ListenLinda feeling for you and the little one so much. Do hope some relief comes soon.

cheeseisthebest · 01/05/2021 08:35

Oh listenlinda that sounds awful hour poor DS and poor you.
Well we are away and I'm not doing great with food will try better today. Lovely to be by the sea, a out to use the pool. Kids are so happy to have a change of scenery.

Jellycatspyjamas · 01/05/2021 08:44

@FinallyHere I too was in the office yesterday for the first time since February last year. We went out for lunch to a Greek place so lots of easy choices, I’m meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow which might be less easy on the good front. And I’m getting my hair done today which I’m ridiculously excited about - my hair is an absolute bloody mess so I’m looking forward to not scraping it back into a ponytail at every opportunity.

I’ll have done more in 4 days than I have in over 4 months, glad it’s a holiday weekend so I can recover.

Food tiday

Lunch SLC sandwich probably ham with cheese and salad
Dinner bolognese sauce with broccoli

Stokey · 01/05/2021 08:54

Sorry to hear any poor DS @ListenLinda. Hope he starts to feel better soon.

Loving the retro food talk. I got a Soda stream for Christmas and it's been great for all the fizzy water without plastic bottle guilt.

Yesterday's meals as I forgot:
S: Flat white with almond milk (is this allowed... Deliberately went for almond rather than my usual oat)
B: Greek yoghurt with cinnamon
L: salad with avo, cherry tomatoes, olives and cheese
D: aubergine & halloumi curry (from veggie thread - really yummy) with celeriac chips & cauliflower rice.

I seem to be eating loads compared to others on the thread but definitely feel like my tummy's getting flatter.

MrsBertBibby · 01/05/2021 08:58

Morning, popping in to say I got under 14 stone this morning! 13 13 1/4. Go me!

Got to dash off to do aged P errands now.
