Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

BIWI · 25/04/2021 23:22

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Wow taken me ages to read the thread I can’t keep up!

@Moonswimmer we’ll done on your loss. Fantastic results.

@ditavonteesed you look amazing. Loving your new purchases.

@FusionChefGeoff - sorry you’re having a tough time. Hope everything turns out ok.

@BIWI we’ll done for your c25k success. Lots of impressive stories of people taking up running seriously. I often end up injured in some way after a while - like now due to bad back. Enjoying my walks though, especially these crisp mornings.

I was another one who had their skirt tucked in knickers & cart wheeled everywhere. Really needed one of those skorts! Also a good girl not sure I ever bunked off. Liked sport but preferred it outside school.

Having flirted with Cathy twat over the weekend I’m back on track with lchf. It’s quite hard now there’s a few more social things - nice but harder to keep on plan. I didn’t go majorly off track but definitely some carb creep. At least I didn’t eat too much sugar and have stomach pain like last time.

I generally love this woe & feel good on it but not sure how maintenance will work out. I do want to introduce pulses & the occasional hunk of wholemeal or sourdough bread once I’m at my target weight. I’ve a few pounds to lose yet so let’s see if I get there!

B: coffee
L: forgot so nibbled some ham & mozzarella mid afternoon
D: courgetti, meatballs in Tom sauce & cheese

Snack: Greek yoghurt, few raspberries & few walnuts.
Probably not quite enough water

Covid10lbs · 30/04/2021 01:43

@mermaidsariel is it 'restless legs', are you a runner? Try water, calf stretches & is it magnesium - I think it's some mineral found in bananas, but you can't have those.
I'm being inspired to return to running.Hmm

Is anyone watching the Sewing Bee? Does anybody sew? It's inspiring me to sew, but I'm thinking that's a bit mad.

Food today
B. 3 eggs with mushrooms & cheddar. Mug coffee.
D. Pork loin with cabbage and broccoli.
Yogurt with spoon of peanut butter.
2 mugs herbal tea with square of 85% chocolate
2 L water.

Rayna37 · 30/04/2021 05:53

@Bestbees there are actually lots of foods with more potassium than bananas but somehow everyone has latched on to them for it! Avocados and spinach best for this WoE

www.healthline.com/nutrition/foods-loaded-with-potassium

Bestbees · 30/04/2021 06:35

Thank you @Rayna37 I have both spinach and avo in so they will be on the plan today. Each time I pushed off for a length in the pool I got a mini cramp!

@prettybird I get my mum to proof read essays and am always very grateful, I hope your son is. What's he doing to be writing about human rights?

So Friday is my weigh in day and I have lost 2lbs making me the lowest yet at 9.10. I am super please as I have been really stuck. No surprises about what has worked though really, no snacking! Also I have really cut down in cream over the last couple of weeks which has helped. I nice clean 16:8 every day and meals which are big and fat filled. Let's hope weekends doesn't derail me too much.

Plan for today:
L soup and boiled eggs
D burger, halloumi, spinach and avo. Greek yog. Might have a gin and tonic too.

Have a great day everyone.

Rshard · 30/04/2021 06:49

I can’t do forward rolls, we call them tipty pies 🤔 or handstands but dd and dh can. They did that handstand challenge that was going around last year when you put a top in whilst doing so.

Love the sewing bee covids10lbs, mainly because I can barely see a button on. I love portrait artist of the year for the same reason. Awe at their talent!

Timetobuckup · 30/04/2021 07:25

Morning all

Sorry I only seem to get time to pop on in the morning but I do catch up and read everything. It definitely helps to keep me on track hearing how everyone is doing.

Flowers to all who need them whether that is eyeballs or lumps or annoying teens and everything in-between.

My 17 yr old seems to have decided he is an adult who needs no guidance anymore and doesn't understand why anyone would care when he gets in or why we would worry about where he is ! He does still follow our rules thankfully but is confused as to why we are bothering.

Food is still going well and getting all the water in.
I am going to have a good look through the recipe threads today for some inspiration. I love cooking but a lot of my normal meals aren't suitable for this WOE.

Oneborneverydecade · 30/04/2021 07:30

That's great @Bestbees well
l done. I need some of your motivation

@Covid10lbs I love Sewing Bee. My mum is fantastic at sewing and occasionally teaches me but because I don't keep it up it's in one ear and out the other

Random789 · 30/04/2021 07:31

Congratulations on the weight loss Bestbees.

Running has become much more fun for me since I was talked into paying for Spotify. So many lovely playlists. I have a great 'alternative 70s' list that has so many wonderful songs. Luckily I was up in remote farmland with not a soul in sight when Jilted John came on and I started singing joyfully along with GORDON IS A MORON, GORDON IS A MORON ...

Could just about do a roly poly of sorts when I was at school but I was endlessly jealous of my cartwheeling cousins.

venusandmars · 30/04/2021 07:33

Seeing @BIWIs big stick in a different light now I know her parents were teachers you do know corporal punishment is no longer allowed?

I was a wee skinny runt so hated team sports, terrified to be passed a basket ball because immediately 6 amazonian girls surrounded me flapping their hands and grabbing... I just gave the ball away. Our favourite bunk off was to take up an instrument (trumpet for me). What with extra lessons, orchestra practice, brass band, there was barely time to go to other classes. Plus the county orchestra practice meant travelling on the back seat of the bus with 'Jimmy the trombone' Blush

Apart from that I was another of the good girls ignores the incident of being taken home from school drunk after I knocked a desk over

Was up at 5am to see a glorious dawn, and catch an early ferry. Mercifully calm seas so enjoying egg, mushrooms, tomato, sausage and coffee with a dod of butter in it.

Random789 · 30/04/2021 07:34

Why were forward rolls/roly-polies such a thing at school? The way I remember it, they were pretty much the core task of all indoor PE. They aren't a life skill that I've had much use for since.

Random789 · 30/04/2021 07:36

lololol at 'Jimmy the trombone'. Pwoar.

Makegoodchoices · 30/04/2021 07:38

@Random789 I’d forgotten Jilted John!! Grin

Timetobuckup · 30/04/2021 07:42

I'm another one who has done C25K , I have completed it 3 times and each time I feel great and continue for a few months and then it slides off and stops and then I have to start all over again.

I am toying with doing it yet again......

Jimmy the trombone sounds like a tale Grin

Pleaseandthankyou · 30/04/2021 07:43

For those interested in maintaining - I have lost 6lbs this bootcamp while trying to maintain. 2lbs to go to a 25 bmi. I am bootcamping Mon to Thu. Friday night has introduced carbs and a few carbs over the weekend. I haven’t been going mad but have had a large slice of cake instead of lunch, a portion of chips with a steak for dinner etc. I have resisted sourdough as I don’t know if I could restrict myself. Sticking to the SLC bread. I did a lot of walking last weekend - 30km which probably helps. I can walk fast for miles but running 100m leaves me gasping. No alcohol Monday to Thursday either. I was in the habit of a glass of wine to relax after work. It feels sustainable. This weekend I am having a night out with friends I haven’t seen for a year. We have a lot of catching up to do. The wine will be flowing so it will be interesting to see the damage inflicted. It seems too easy which is worrying me a bit.

MotherBuckets · 30/04/2021 07:51

Morning all Smile

I am sorry I can't properly join in the chat, although I read every post. I'm one of you with a perimenopausal me and a hormonal 15yo DD who is currently too anxious to go to school so the stresses are many and varied Confused

Was a girly swot myself, hated sport and still hate running although I did manage C25K about 7 years ago. Blaming knees for not trying again but it's mainly because I hate running.

Lost 3lb this week so v happy about that, only another 40 to go.... friend coming for pizza and prosecco tonight so I will have the prosecco and make myself a flattened chicken breast pizza which I actually prefer to the bread variety.

BestIsWest · 30/04/2021 07:53

@Covid10lbs I adore the Sewing Bee especially Patrick. It’s such a heartwarming lovely hour. I’ve promised myself that when I lose a decent amount I’m going to buy some lovely Liberty lawn and make myself a skirt or dress. I used to sew years ago when DD was little but haven’t made anything for years.

@Random789 love the sound of alternative 70’s playlist. Sounds right up my street. I loved that kind of stuff when I was a teenager - I was 15 when Jilted John was a hit. Takes me right back.

prettybird · 30/04/2021 08:19

@Bestbees - he's doing an MA in Politics and International Relations. In his Junior Honours year, so still one more year to go. Smile

ElasticFirecracker · 30/04/2021 09:08

Yesterday's food

All the water

B: 10% yoghurt

L: artichoke hearts in oil , watercress, prosciutto

D: beef curry in slow cooker. Beef, onion, mushrooms, spices. Tbsp Tom purée.
Whole aubergine fried.

S: melted creamed coconut & cocoa chocolates. I added some ground flax seeds for bulk.

SunsetSeaCow · 30/04/2021 09:19

Hello, well done on all your losses! I joined at the beginning, had a few good days, then a few not so good, so didn’t update the spreadsheet. Can I rejoin now?

Oneborneverydecade · 30/04/2021 10:08

That's interesting @Pleaseandthankyou do you think that drinking less is behind your loss? I looked on Diet Doctor for maintenance advice this week and it basically said that the health benefits of low carb are greater than weight loss and to just koko. I think I'll probably do that but with the odd slice of toast

@SunsetSeaCow of course!

BSky · 30/04/2021 10:19

That’s really interesting @Pleaseandthankyou - sounds like going slow on the carbs & being stricter mid week is working. And you’re still losing!

Sorry for folks with hormonal challenges - theirs & others. Kids are having such stressful time with the disruption to their studies due to COVID. Hoping things get easier. I’m in a house full of boys & both apart from OH pre-teen - clash of the hormones!

Have good days all - sun is out here ☀️😎

SunsetSeaCow · 30/04/2021 10:22

Thank you!

colouringindoors · 30/04/2021 10:41

Well done to all the runners and weight loosers!

No change today, not a surprise.

But I have lost 3.5 inches off waist since I started which I'm really noticing 😊

VeryLittleOwl · 30/04/2021 10:46

Congrats, BestBees and great NSV, colouringindoors!

I've had a 2lb whoosh overnight which takes me to a total of 1.5 stone lost since I restarted boot camp in October. I suspect it may not stick around for Monday, but from here I've only got 10lbs to go until my initial target :)

colouringindoors · 30/04/2021 10:48

@BIWI is there anything I can do that I'm not already, to maximise loss. Don't want doldrrums to get the better of me?

Am doing Lunch and Dinner. Watching dairy, which is one thing I'm wondering about. Sometimes have yog at lunch and cream in dinner. Do have one coffee with cream in (only a little) each morning. I'd say about half the days I'm doing 16:8. Have a couple of diet drinks a week which I should prob cut out if poss. Watching portion size of dinner. Drinking at least 2l water a day.

Sadly unlike pleaseandthankyou if I have any of the usual carbs or any wine I stop loosing for 24-48 hrs. Not erred enough to go up in weight which is something...
