Well, it's a good job I started the thread last night, because I didn't wake up this morning till nearly 10am
Sounds like there have been some great results in week 1 - but don't panic if that hasn't been you. Remember, it's not a competition and everyone loses at a different rate. And if you have less to lose, you'll lose more slowly.
However, if you haven't lost/haven't lost much, do think back to the week and ask yourself if you've been following all the rules. This is not a very forgiving way of eating, and the odd indiscretion here and there will have an impact on things.
And now to answer some specific posts ...
Firstly, very sorry to hear about your DF @ZiggZagg. I hope everything goes as well as it can, but also make sure that you're taking care of yourself
Sorry for the confusion @BuffyTheBuffetSlayer
- but glad that you found us in the end! Sorry to hear you're ill - hopefully better soon.
Fantastic loss @debka!
I do tend to get a dip in the afternoon, especially if I've run in the morning: I probably ought to eat a bigger lunch, or plan a little snack mid afternoon
Definitely have more at lunchtime - especially more fat - rather than snacking.
Congratulations @Moonswimmer! It's great when you move into another 'class' isn't it?! And what a fantastic first week you've had

You too @oscarandelliesdad
. Hope your move goes well.
@Bestbees
The discussion about eating breakfast making people more hungry is making me go back to no breakfast
As you've been low carbing for a while, it's perfectly OK to drop breakfast - as long as it doesn't leave you ravenously hungry mid-morning!
Well done @blackbettybramblejam! Sounds like you have a stressful life, which will count against you I'm afraid, so 5lbs is a great start.
@Nateismine great first week! Generally the pattern is as @venusandmars outlined - the biggest loss in week one, which is a combination of water, the glucose stored as glycogen in your liver and muscles and a little bit of fat. Week 2 will be more fat - then we hit the Low Carb Doldrums of weeks 3 and 4 (and sometimes 5) where weight loss slows, sometimes stops and occasionally goes back up. After this, though, you should see a settle pattern of loss, at a lower level. Be aware, though, that it isn't necessarily a consistent week-by-week loss - people talk about having a 'whoosh' because you can go for a while without losing and then suddenly you'll drop 3lbs in one go!
@FinallyHere 4.5 inches is a great NSV
@cheeseisthebest
My losses are small, very stuck at ten stone i think
You've lost 2lbs so you're not stuck! Please don't be negative about that loss, it's a great loss to record, as you've been low carbing for a while now.
Always hungry so need to up the fat but perhaps salmon and avocado rather than yet more cheese!
Yes, definitely up the fat. Salmon and avocado are great choices, but you could also add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to the salmon and/or a vinaigrette dressing to the avocado. Mayo on the side, and butter on your veg/in your cooking too. Don't forget about the water as well - are you drinking all you need to?
@Midlifemission
Hopefully it means that if you just keep making the right choices as best you can you don't have to worry too much
This is the entire thinking behind Bootcamp! Because I'm a lazy arse, I couldn't be bothered with the faff of weighing and counting everything (plus, I hated the obsession with calorie counting in previous diets), so this is why Bootcamp is all about just following the rules.
It also should - hopefully - make it easier when you reach the point where you want to maintain. You will know which choices are best without having to worry too much.
@Thinnerlikeachickendinner how about drinking hot water, with a slice of lemon in it? It's very soothing and, somehow, quite different from cold water.
Well done @MilesJuppIsMyBitch!
