Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 8 - the last three weeks!

Morning all.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hope it's been a good week - lots of challenges going on! I challenged myself to cook something different with cauliflower yesterday as I was getting bored of the same old same old, and so found a recipe for Bang Bang cauliflower, which I adapted slightly to make it more low carb friendly. I shall post that later.

In the meantime, I hope that the scales or the measuring tape have been kind to you!

Here's to a good next week. Remember we only have three left, so if things are slacking a bit, time to get stricter again.

I went out for dinner tonight with friends.
Possibly too much booze but I had the only carb-free options on the menu, so feel proud. Grilled oysters with njuda butter, bouillabaisse and cheese for pudding. Drank one large glass of picpoul, and probably similar of Malbec.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 21:37

Aww, thanks. I was tempted to do a little dance!
These scales sound fun... Mine do body fat but they're not very accurate and I have had them for years. I may need these Renpho ones. Especially if there is an app! I'm currently weighing at work as I switched to kilos and can't work out how to change the home scales to kilos Blush

Just had a bit of a dodgy stomach, I don't think it's anything I ate. I'm feeling a bit premenstrual and I'm sure this happened last month too. Wierd LC side effect? My first thought was, ooh I bet I'll weigh less tomorrow!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 21:40

@Dailyhandtowelwash ooh, fancy sounding dinner (again!). I'm not a fan of seafood so would be wasted on me, but how lovely to be out and enjoying good food. Agree with the BMI, I'd also like to get to the middle of healthy (I'd look awful at the low end), I should probably go and work out what that is...

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 21:43

Ooohh, those scales. The app has so many graphs (swoons).
Doesn't have handles though. My omron ones have handles that you hold out in front, was a good gimmick but I've never been sure how accurate the fat measuments are.

Ninkanink · 08/03/2021 21:50

🎉🎉🎉 and 💐💐💐 to all those who have reached milestones or otherwise won hard earned victories. KOKO. It isn’t a rice, it’s just doing what’s actually good for you, day by day, step by step.

@Stuntnun, (I think it was you who asked about Korean foods), the two main things you need to get started with Korean cuisine is gochugaru (Korean chilli flakes/powder) and gochujang (Korean smokey/sweet/hot chilli paste). Then your usual basics like soy sauce, sesame oil, Mirin. Some soy bean paste would come in handy too
Plenty of spring onions!!

Ninkanink · 08/03/2021 21:50

@Dailyhandtowelwash mmmmm that sounds delicious.

cheeseisthebest · 08/03/2021 21:55
@cheeseisthebest how did the first day back go? I only saw a couple of mums due to the staggered start and one said "you look different, have you changed your hair?' Confused So much for the big reveal
Same here no one said a word but I don't look that different and in the end only threw on a few scruffs! Kinda forgot to take into account having to do packed lunches, etc!

Ninkanink · 08/03/2021 21:55

@prettybird 😭😭 about your Dior wedding earrings! Perhaps you can find a single one on Vestiare Collective or Fashionphile. Or possibly eBay.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 21:58

I got lost looking at scales and reading reviews, there are too many models...

venusandmars · 08/03/2021 23:58

So many amazing losses, that I'm at a loss to name everyone.

And so much determination to keep on going, from everyone.

3 weeks more of this particular bootcamp, but it doesn't have to end there. If it's worked for you , even if it was an ounce or two a week, you can keep on going. And there's a new motivational bootcamp starting in April.

venusandmars · 09/03/2021 00:06

@prettybird aha, I feel a book coming on: The 31 earrings

A story behind each earring, a tale for every one, something woven between each tale... I'll ghost write it for you, you just have to tell me the story of each earring...

MrsOmelette · 09/03/2021 04:36

@RagzReturnsRebooted that’s fantastic news!

ditavonteesed · 09/03/2021 05:49

I've sts this week which is the first week that's happened, was down 1 lb on Friday but it came back. I've been feeling really bloated for a few days though. Also nsv of half an inch off my waist.

Tomorrow is dds birthday and still not sure what to do about the sushi she wants, it's my favourite food.

Well done on the losses everyone.
Today's foods will be
Breakfast bullet proof coffee
2 nd breakfast Greek yoghurt.
Lunch salad and chicken
No dinner.

Dreamqueen · 09/03/2021 06:23

STS for me this week. I'm happy with that because it was my birthday on Saturday and even though I cooked low carb food, I also had a lot of low carb cake and cheesecake. I avoided weighing in yesterday because I was worried about a gain. Going to do a stricter week of eating on plan.

Off to catch up on the new thread now.

AWryGiraffe · 09/03/2021 06:24

@RagzReturnsRebooted I've had one too - I'm starting to think it's linked to when I've had celeriac? I'm sure when we've had it, the next day the scales jump up by a couple of pounds too. Has anyone else had this? Might just be coincidence though!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 09/03/2021 07:43

Not had celeriac for a week. I know ground almonds give me stomach ache and make me bloated, so I can't bake with them.
I'm going to blame PMT for mine, unless another culprit presents itself.

cheeseisthebest · 09/03/2021 07:47

I forgot to report back on my hair. The mask was a real success! Hair looked shiny and more defined curls.
@Bestbees do you follow strict curly girl method? I feel I need to refresh my knowledge of it and think about trying some elements of it again.

Cactusowl · 09/03/2021 08:10

Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday. I felt despondent as I know I’m sticking to plan. Today I’m 3lbs lighter so am having a whoosh at the moment!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 09/03/2021 08:27

@Cactusowl congratulations on the whoosh!

cheeseisthebest · 09/03/2021 08:34

Great news cactusowl!
I've noticed today that I look younger, my skin looks nice, I look more fresh faced.
God I love this WOE!

FusionChefGeoff · 09/03/2021 08:43

I've decided to weigh more often so I can keep myself on track as I think I need to be more careful about snacks and portions!! O.8lb off since yesterday which I know can easily go back on but it's what I needed to see to pep me up.

I was really really mindful yesterday and was not hungry between meals so every time my thoughts wandered to the fridge I stopped myself!! Also was strict about portions although my fat filled Bolognaise sauce was so delicious I did have 1 extra large spoonful for seconds

Plan for today:
L: Chicken, bacon, 1/2 avocado with small salad and hm Caesar dressing
D: fish cauli mornay, green beans, cabbage

I agree the earrings book would make a lovely memoir!!

And I don't care enough about what I wear but wow what a generous offer from @ShagMeRiggins

I definitely need the dirty fries recipe was that @RagzReturnsRebooted I seem to have missed it!!

I definitely have some trigger foods for bloating but I'm working on shifting some belly weight first then gonna attempt to narrow it down around week 6 I think.

ZiggZagg · 09/03/2021 08:53

Ahh shags legendary zoom!! Really helped me (won't give any secrets away) but let's say I now wear a dress I owned for 2 years without wearing it Grin

As expected I had a gain (5lbs!) Sad

So I'm right back into strict bootcamp! So much so, I'm sat eating breakfast, which I haven't done for 30 years!!

Just need to KOKO and drink all the water, confident I can lose that this week Grin

nowlook · 09/03/2021 08:56

@FusionChefGeoff Ragz' dirty fries recipe is on the Vegetarian recipes sticky thread (near the end on 11th Feb)

Doilooklikeatourist · 09/03/2021 09:04

@FusionChefGeoff I’m sure it’s been mentioned before , but every time your thoughts go to the fridge , stop at the kitchen sink and pour yourself a glass of water , or keep a bottle of sparkling water in the fridge ( Tesco do a 2 litre bottle for 17 p or so , I’m a cheap and cheerful shopper )
It helps on the water consumption, and gives us something to do

pinkpinkeverywhere · 09/03/2021 09:14

@RagzReturnsRebooted these are the scales that were recommended to me on here Renpho scales and I've been really pleased with them.

As @VeryLittleOwl says, lots of graphs and data on the app, all loaded for you straight away. I actually find looking at them and where I came from very motivational.

I've never even noticed the different colours but now I'm on a mission, but I can't get my metabolic age to come down. It reduced by 2 years then when my birthday came and I gained it went back up never to reduce, even though the weight has gone, it's really not fair.
