Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 8 - the last three weeks!

Morning all.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hope it's been a good week - lots of challenges going on! I challenged myself to cook something different with cauliflower yesterday as I was getting bored of the same old same old, and so found a recipe for Bang Bang cauliflower, which I adapted slightly to make it more low carb friendly. I shall post that later.

In the meantime, I hope that the scales or the measuring tape have been kind to you!

Here's to a good next week. Remember we only have three left, so if things are slacking a bit, time to get stricter again.

Thanks @BIWI I’ve read the spreadsheet and will take a look at that thread!

1WayOrAnother2 · 14/03/2021 16:57

They are a credit to their mother BIWI!

Jellycatspyjamas · 14/03/2021 17:05

Well chosen @BIWI, the Harris gin is particularly nice.

ShagMeRiggins · 14/03/2021 17:24
@ShagMeRiggins am I too late for the style session? It's my own fault if I am!
Not too late. Send me a PM here with an email address (can be as incognito as you like), and you’ll hear from me tomorrow.

Yea. Tomorrow. That is my absolute fecking deadline. Grin Mwah.

ListenLinda · 14/03/2021 17:49

My tea was supposed to be a special chow mein, sans noodles. He ‘forgot’ and mixed the bloody noodles in with everything huffs thankfully i fried up some mushrooms in butter and there was some veg left over from the kids tea. Just had a slice of chilli cheese and i had to leave half my meal.
Oh well, i got my calla lillies so i’ll forgive him Smile

ListenLinda · 14/03/2021 17:50

As I had to leave half my meal... bloody fingers!

cheeseisthebest · 14/03/2021 18:29

Thank you

ouchmyfeet · 14/03/2021 18:29

Gorgeous takeaway Sunday roast here. I donated my roasties and yorkie to DH and the kids but I did eat the cauliflower cheese...

Substituted the spuds etc for @venusandmars's turnip and cabbage cheesy mustardy bake from a couple of threads ago. It was gorgeous and plenty leftover for next week.

ouchmyfeet · 14/03/2021 18:30

Very well trained sons @BIWI! Mine is only 10 and got me gin this year Blush

Mimosa1 · 14/03/2021 18:32

@ziggzagg my 3 year old has just told me he loves me because... I sometimes let him play in the IPad. Your 3 year olds sounds considerably more charming Wink!

Pleaseandthankyou · 14/03/2021 19:00

So who watched the lambs being born on Countryfile? We were glued to the screen here.

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 14/03/2021 19:55

Also had takeaway Sunday roast. Took off the yorkie, roasties, mash, peas and carrots. Did eat the cauli cheese and too much stuffing.

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/03/2021 19:58

@Pleaseandthankyou , yep we watched Countryfile , Sunday night tradition

Oneborneverydecade · 14/03/2021 20:09

DS1 has food tech at school tomorrow. They're making a sponge cake. He has been asked to bring 3 eggs, 75g sr flour and 75g sugar. That's weird right?
No fat and too many eggs? DS1 says the teacher never asks them to bring enough and so I'm going to send him with the standard 2 eggs 4oz everything else. He'll either have the only decent cake or they're making something else altogether.

nowlook · 14/03/2021 21:05

Intriguing @Oneborneverydecade!

Just found this:

the recipe perhaps

venusandmars · 14/03/2021 21:06

@nowlook that enigmagram looks great. It's dh's 60th birthday next month, not much we can do party wise and I think something like that would be fabulous. Will require some tricky technical stuff for me between now and then to gather everything together. But thank you, dh will be frustrated and delighted in equal measure - result!

Another crazy day here. dh and I are involved in a stupid challenge so, after a late night, my mother's day started at ten past 7 with dh saying "we're one point ahead, get out on your bike!" not even a cup of tea in bed.

Luckily this woe means that 2 hours on my bike without breakfast is no problem. Then refuelled with coffee and cream, and boiled eggs mashed with butter. Family walk with dd followed by a 'challenge' walk saw me put in another 32,000 steps. Feet up now and a relaxing and restorative bath tonight.

early breakfast - nothing (well, rooibos tea)
late breakfast - coffee with cream, boiled eggs mashed with butter
snack - pre-cooked sausages
dinner - bouillabaisse with butter and cream

Not enough veg, not enough water, not enough sleep. Will probably pay for it on the scales tomorrow.

nowlook · 14/03/2021 21:13

Oh good venus! I wish I'd have know about it before- would have made the ultimate lockdown Christmas round robin Wink

That's the third time you've mentioned this challenge. What on earth is it? Geocaching? What's the prize?! Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/03/2021 21:34

@Oneborneverydecade, looks like an old fashioned whisked sponge ( Swiss roll type )
@venusandmars I’m intrigued too ( seems like it’s tough though )
And I’m with you on the not enough veg this week , it’s not good

venusandmars · 14/03/2021 21:35

The problem is there is no prize! Just glory! It's a sort of gps-related orienteering thing turfgame.com/ Usually we're battling against each other in our local areas (or just setting our own personal goals) but this is a Scotland versus Sweden challenge.

I am the MOST unathletic, un-sporty person ever. I was the person who was always picked last for the team in school sports. I hate to get hot and I hate to get sweaty. I've never found any exercise that really suited me. But this has got me a bit hooked and I'm walking and walking and walking, and even sometimes getting on my bike. Now, I'm on the team as an international athlete Grin [one of those lmao emoticons]

It's good because it is something that dh and I discovered together, so although he is a mega-athlete (and a skinny bugger to boot) we're equally engrossed in this. And it is a blessed relief to have something new to talk about that isn't about COVID!

I suppose I mention it (3 times at least, possibly more) because this weekend in particular has been really disrupted. Often I'm the smug golden eater with avocado for breakfast, vegetables and eggs for lunch, meat and salad and oils for dinner. Drink all the water. Now everything is chaotic, and I feel the need to excuse myself or explain.

But it will settle down.

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 14/03/2021 22:33

It's a fat free sponge. The type you use for a swiss roll or fill with jam and whipped cream. Much lighter than a Victoria sponge.

Oneborneverydecade · 14/03/2021 22:37

@nowlook and @Doilooklikeatourist thank you, my mum suggested a swiss roll too when I mentioned it to her. He's such a glutton that we're unlikely to see the finished result

Dailyhandtowelwash · 14/03/2021 23:04

Today got very stressful to the point of me having a bit of a sobbing meltdown (lots going on). I ended up eating a Yorkshire pudding and a few Leonidas left in a box from Christmas. I really am not an emotional eater 99% of the time but today broke me a bit. The scales will punish me tomorrow.

BustleInYourHedgerow · 15/03/2021 04:34

Happy mothers day to all the mamas.

I'm working night shifts so had breakfast, lay on the couch reading the paper and woke up and had dinner. Its husbands turn to cook when I'm working anyway but he did it on plan for me so I was happy. He even asked me for the keto queen yorkshire pudding recipe became likes the ones I made last week. Got a bunch of flowers and homemade cards from my sons so I was happy.

B: scrambled eggs, mushrooms and bacon
D: lamb roast with yorkies and tenderstem broccoli

Made myself some choc mousse for dessert

@BIWI I ordered some of the zero electrolytes online. Got next day delivery so this is day three of using it and my rhr has dropped from 62 to 54. So I'm assuming I was low in electrolytes. It taste nice too, not much taste off it in fact, I was worried it would taste very artificial like berrocca.

Oneborneverydecade · 15/03/2021 06:56

Sorry @Mrsbrownsgargoyle I missed you in my reply. I'm going to have to remeasure it all out this morning aren't I
